View Full Version : Cafe Orleans and Other Dining Suggestions, please...
FunMom 08-22-2007, 06:44 PM We have not been in the parks for a little over a year - since July 2007 when we enjoyed 5 days there. At that time, we found that we liked having sit down meals for both lunch and dinner because it gave us a chance to rest and relax in air conditioning and more comfortable chairs - so that we could blast on until park closing at midnight.
Since then, I think some of the restuarant options have changed - and we'll be in the parks including the busy gay days weekend in Oct. Do you folks have particular preferences in addition to Wine County Trattoria and Story Tellers?
We did not have an opportunity to dine at Cafe Orleans - anything there that's wonderful - or anything we need to avoid?
squirrel44 08-22-2007, 08:17 PM Everyone says the Monte Cristo is great at Cafe Orleans. I also heard that they have good fries with parmesan cheese and I think garlic.

Absolutely! :D
adamvonwillis 08-23-2007, 08:52 AM Heh... that is EXACTLY what I get everytime I go. Those delicious fries are the perfect appetizer to the Monte Cristo. I can't wait to go back!

Deep-fried potatoes are a good appetizer for a deep-fried sandwich? I can hear my arteries hardening already? :) Just kidding, I can't wait for my Monte Cristo in 2 weeks! (Probably sans fries though.)

For what it's worth, the Pommes Frites (http://www.flickr.com/photos/gone2disneyland/557174049/in/set-72157600373678627/) aren't as greasy tasting as you might expect. Every time my friends and I have order them to share, they've always been crisp and non-greasy tasting. We can't not order them on every visit. :p Of course, you'll still have to worry about the parmesan cheese over it to clog your arteries. :p
Ironically, it seems to me the Monte Cristo, which I love too, is greasier tasting than the fries.

OMG, I've only had breakfast at Carnation Cafe.
Now I need to go for lunch or dinner.
And Chef Oscar is just way too cute! ;)

hi, i visted disneyland last year and i loved cafe orleans. I think story tellers is a great place to take the kids when chip and dale are ther for breakfast i don't think that is anything you have to avoid.
Jim Dear and Darling 08-23-2007, 02:44 PM Everyone is right about the Carnation Cafe. I love that place.
disneymania 08-23-2007, 07:20 PM OMG! The gumbo crepes are to die for at Cafe Orleans. I'm salivating just thinking of them.

EVERYTHING there is wonderful (IMHO). Salads are light & fresh if you want to go that route, but I'd recommend indulging--the fried food is a delicious "only at Disneyland" splurge. We love BOTH the Monte Cristos, and the pommes frites are great. My little one LOVES the mac & cheese (and so do I!). The only thing we HAVEN'T tried is dessert.
Also, it's not table service, but we always find Rancho del Zocalo to be a relaxing dining experience. The ambiance in the evening is quite lovely--beautiful scenery, flickering lights, etc., and if you sit along the outskirts of the restaurant, you can take in the Western theme songs. We like it there. :)
lisap 08-23-2007, 07:52 PM We just had lunch at Cafe Orleans today.:) In the past we've gotten a whole monte cristo to ourselves and found we couldn't finish it, so today our group split an order of the cheese monte cristo and the delicious blackened chicken salad. The romaine gives a nice break in between all that heavy (but yummy) sandwhich--and I defy anyone to eat more than two wedges of a monte cristo without falling over :p.
We always share pommes frites as an appetizer--they always come to the table piping hot and not greasy at all.

That's a great idea, does Cafe Orleans charge a split plate charge like BB?
