Hi all....I wouldn't bother you guys except I can't seem to find a alt. discussion board and/or site with this info on it...
For those of you who have done or are doing one of these Danskin Triathlons or similar events, and wear glasses - what do you do with your glasses???
I can't wear contacts - and from what I can tell we put our bikes and sneakers and stuff in the transition area the night before. should I go blind and leave my glasses with my bike (I hate the thought of that!) or what? I know this seems like a silly questions - but I can't figure it out!
Thanks everyone.

Do you have 'backup glasses' (like a slightly older prescription) that you could either wear after you leave your 'good glasses' in the transition area or to leave in the transition area to wear while you bike and run?

normally...that would be no problem! As fate would have it we just moved and I put those in the "master bedroom junk" box...we are in a short term rental while waiting for our new house...
Maybe I should dig thru the storage unit and try to find them - uh? Yeah - I was thinking that would be my only option. I can't be the only person to have this problem!?

I don't wear glasses (keep an extra set of contact lenses at my bike just in case), but you should talk to one of the race organizers. In the past, I've seen a table with people's glasses at the swim exit so if they have one of those, you can just leave them there. This way, you won't be blind from swim to bike. Label it with your race number and last name. It'd be better if you used your spare glasses just in case they got lost, but as you already pointed out, that's not an option.

Although you do have to leave your bike the day before, most triathlons have the transition area open (for competitors) the morning of the race for the purpose of inflating tires, filling water bottles and warming up with your race shoes. Some races close the transition a bit before the swim start. You should be able to leave your glasses at your bike the morning of the race; I leave my glasses in my helmet with my helmet nested on top of my race shoes. Every triathlon has its own quirks so you should ask the organizers of your specific race. In a worst case scenario you most likely could have one of the transition guards put your glasses in your helmet race morning.

Oh, ha. Now I understand the question. Yes, you'll be allowed back into transition during race morning so you can put your glasses there. I had thought you were wondering if you were going to be blind between the swim and the bike.

Thank you everyone - I'm hoping that I can leave them in my bike helmet that morning and I can get them after the swim!
