Hey everyone,
I've done several races including the 2007 WDW 1/2 marathon. They have all started early in the morning, though. With the ToT 13K starting at night, does anyone have any suggestions as to how to handle food, activity, etc... Should I reverse my meal schedule--for example do a big breakfast, light lunch, snack before the race? Should I take a nap in the afternoon? Any suggestions would be wonderful. I think that this race is going to be a blast...everything about it is so different. It has been quite difficult to train here in Georgia with all the heat, though. I'm praying for a mild September. Look forward to hearing from everyone,
Jen in GA

Generally, the recommendation is to eat your largest meal 12 hours before the race. In this case, that would be breakfast. I know I plan to eat a light dinner that evening.

When I was in high school I was friends with some people who did a bunch of runs and such - and at that time, it was considered 'gauche' (for lack of a better word) to wear the race t-shirt for the race.

That was QUITE a while ago - and I'm wondering if this is still the case?

Since this race t-shirt is glow-in-the dark, I'm wondering if that makes a difference, from the safety side of things.

Any ideas?

I was wondering both of those things:
1 - What about eating and
2 - The GID race t-shirt

I think it is still considered to be in bad taste to wear the shirt before you complete the race - but how many times will you get to race in a glow in the dark shirt??!!! Maybe we can tie it around our waists - kind of a loophole since we're not actually wearing it....;) I think some people will wear the shirt, and I hope that everyone else will cut them some slack noting that it's extenuating circumstances.

I have an ADR at Hollywood & Vine for 4:30 on race day. I figure I could eat light and the rest of my family will have an early dinner and dessert later on in the evening.

It really is different trying to prepare for a night time race. I'm glad that we don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn - but I hope I have the energy to complete the race. I'll be there with my family, so napping that day is out of the question!

I can't wait to see the race course map - I read it is coming out in Sept.

I plan a lighter early dinner around 4-5. I know at a 12 hour night ultramarathon(7pm-7am) runners were eating pizza next door at around 4:00pm.

I know I won't have any energy after spending 9 days before the race at WDW. But gotta do it!
