View Full Version : Should I change my reservation?
maxiesmom 08-20-2007, 01:23 PM Right now my vacation is this--One night Pop, 5 nights POR. We have the one night at the Pop becuase our plane lands at 7:30 pm, and I am hoping we will have a better chance of getting the room type I want at POR (Alligator Bayou) if we check in early the next day.
But now I keep going to the Disney web site and checking AP rates. I could get a studio at the Boardwalk Villas for only $90 more per night. So I am thinking of maybe switching to 3 nights POR, 3 nights BWV. Or even 4 nights POR, 2 nights BWV. I would still only be switching resorts once, and I am planning on doing Epcot during the later part of my trip.
What do you guys think? Is it worth the extra $90 a night to be on the boardwalk, and within walking distance of Epcot? My trip is in October, and it would be nice to be so close to the Food and Wine festival.

If you're at all considering it - this alone would be worth it. I stayed at Boardwalk Villas last year for a F&W visit (rented points and stayed at Pop beforehand on Fri/Sat due to the higher points) - and it was FANTASTIC for F&W fest! HIGHLY recommend it if it's in the budget. You can pop over just to "get a dessert" when you've spent the day at another park without any problem. And since France is right there, and they usually have a creme brulee dessert, what BETTER way to cap off the evening? (Unless it's a yummy chocolate thing and a glass of Rosa Regale?)

you will find it well worth the money if it doesn't take away from any other thing you plan on doing. but if this means sacrificing somewhere else then don't do it.
WDW07 08-20-2007, 04:57 PM We'll be doing the same thing in December. First night at POP 12/7 (plane lands late - 9:30 pm), and then transferring to BC for a week 12/7-12/15. We stayed at the BC in Nov. '05 and the convenience to Epcot during the F & W festival was absolutely worth the extra cost. No matter which park we had visited during the day, we could hop over to Epcot for Illuminations and dessert. It also was only a brisk 15 min. walk to MGM--a great way to burn off some of the calories we consumed. I wouldn't recommend it for the elderly or those w/ small children, but as long as the weather is nice, it is an enjoyable walk and faster than the boats when crowd levels are high. Our stay in December will be the first where we switch hotels during our stay. I'm just wondering what transportation you are planning on using from POP to Boardwalk. I'm debating between getting a taxi from POP to BC, or would it be easier to grab a bus to a park and then back to our hotel. We need to get to BC prior to the park, as we purchased a MYW package plus dining, so my understanding is that we need to pick up our cards at the BC upon check in so we can use our Park Hopper passes and the dining plan.

Yes, you'll need to check in at Beach Club before you can go to the parks.
When I did the Pop/Boardwalk switch I had my luggage sent over by luggage services and just had my 'park stuff' with me. Caught the bus to the Studios, then the boat to Boardwalk. Actually, I got off at the Swan/Dolphin, walked over to the Boardwalk and checked in with no line. My room wasn't ready, so I had them hold the package of stuff and I went to walk to Epcot, but the boat was there, so I hopped on that for the short trip to Epcot. It actually was the same boat that I'd gotten off of at the Swan/Dolphin!
As long as the Studios bus is running when you're ready to do this, it was a really easy way to get to an Epcot area resort in the morning!

We did the monorail from the Poly/ bus to Epcot switch last year on our way to the Beach Club, and it was very time consuming. I would much rather spend the $20 on a taxi, then have to listen to all the whining about "why we were wasting so much valuable park time" again.
WDW07 08-21-2007, 02:20 PM There are 9 of us, so it would probably take 2-3 taxis, but I don't want to spend a long time waiting for a bus at any of our stops either. If we can get a bus fairly quickly to MGM, I know from experience that we can walk to Beach Club in about 15 minutes. (and since it's our first day, our legs won't be tired yet!) And I was planning to have bell services transfer our luggage for us, so we'd only need to carry what we need for the parks. My plan was to eat breakfast and be ready to go to the parks before checking out at POP, take a bus to MGM, and walk to BC if there isn't a bus or boat w/in sight at MGM. Then we can check in at the Beach Club, get our Park Hoppers, and be on our way. I'm hoping that by the time we get back to the BC from the parks our room will be ready and our luggage will have arrived. Has anyone else tried this? Any other thoughts on the best transportation strategy? Will the bus scenario be too time consuming and should I just budget for a few taxis that day?
