AUGUST NEWS

Good-bye Moscow Circus

We're sad to see our talented friends at the Moscow Circus leave town this week;
their show is amazing.

If you didn't see it yet, you better hurry! Their final performance is August 16.

The Lost Boys - Movie on the beach!
If you joined us on the beach for The Lost Boys, you already know what a
fantastic event it was. From the clear moonlit sky to the enthusiastic cheers of
the friendly crowd, it was definitely an evening to remember. (I even met a Big
Kahuna who came up from Los Angeles just for the event!)

DH and I are going to be in Santa Cruz this weekend celbrating our 15th wedding anniversary. (Which was a month ago but we couldn't get away) Anything worth checking out on the boardwalk besides the big coaster? Any good places to eat?

Any good places to eat?
The SCBB site has a list of eateries on the Boardwalk (http://www.beachboardwalk.com/02_food.html), but it's all fast food or at best very casual. The only place off the Boardwalk I've tried is the Santa Cruz Diner (http://www.project-insomnia.com/pirr/2005/06/santa-cruz-diner.html).

Hopefully someone else can chime in here.

We were just there a few days ago. On the boardwalk itself, it looked like the restaurants were all counter service, fast food type. There is a pier nearby that we really enjoyed, especially with the sea lions swimming around. We saw several nicer sit-down restaurants on the pier (though still probably on the casual side), and there's even a wintery tasting room. With two kids we opted for quick fish & chips at the end of the pier.

I always eat at Gilda's when I visit. They have a special every day like pasta or Prime Rib (my favorite). Its located on the pier right near the boardwalk. I will be there next week and will stop by as always:)

We always go to Gilda's when we go to Santa Cruz. My husbands grandparents were friends of the owners.

It's not by the boardwalk, but the Crow's Nest (http://www.crowsnest-santacruz.com/) is a great place to go. It is in the Santa Cruz Harbor and has great views of the ocean. The food is excellent as well as the wait staff. Upstairs is the bar where they have live music.
