View Full Version : Desperately Seeking Marriage Proposal at Club 33
hortha71 08-14-2007, 06:28 PM Hello all!
First, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Chris from San Jose, CA. I've been a life-long Disney fan and I'm happy to have found this forum discussing all things Disney! I'm a real estate salesperson during the week and I work with kids six and under on the weekends teaching gymnastics (TOTAL blast!).
So... I am indulging my girlfriend in a Disneyland vacation for her 26th birthday and there is a secret agenda afoot! After three years together, I have bought her a diamond ring and plan to propose to her at some point during our three days in the park. My DREAM would be to propose to her during dinner at the legendary Club 33. I am truly desperate to find SOME WAY, SOMEHOW to make this dream a reality! I have called Disneyland and tried begging and pleading on that end, to no avail. I come to you all now, prostrate before you, asking that if any among you can help to make this vision come to fruition... I will make any sacrifice (within reason) to see this through!
With gratitude and respect,
~Chris

JamesDL 08-14-2007, 07:19 PM Good luck (Trust me you'll really need it).
I would say you'd probably be better off using this effort to plan something else. Chances that a member is going to let a stranger use their reservations like that is pretty slim to none (and that is putting it nicely).
hortha71 08-15-2007, 01:32 PM Thanks for the replies, Adriennek and JamesDL.
I understand that the odds are definitely not in my favor. The effort exerted here is minimal at best, especially considering how special it would be to propose to her in this setting.
I had a family friend who was a member of Club 33 and sadly passed away some time ago. She had let my parents in on her membership before and so I can understand the level of trust that goes into a member allowing a complete stranger access to the restaurant with their reputation (and club status) at stake. I understand that no one on this board knows me or my future fiancee from so many holes in the ground. I also understand that if you don't ask for anything in this life, you rarely have it handed to you out of the clear blue sky... so with that in mind I humbly submit my wish.
Leah Fairchild 08-21-2007, 11:18 AM hortha71,
Good luck! You are doing EXACTLY what I was intending to do whenever the nay sayers gave their opinions. I respected them but then didn't want to take a chance that perhaps a club member would read the negative report and assume that I had given up; I reiterated just in case. Believe me when I say I NEVER saw all of that coming. One person told me something to the effect of giving up the dream or it was just a dream and would not ever happen. Well, he also claims to be such a huge DL fan but should remember that Walt Disney says that DL is a place where dreams come true. I don't know if that was an exact quote but I'm sure you know it.
Keep the faith. ANYTHING can happen at DL! I hope you can make that special proposal at such a neat and exclusive place.
Congratulations and many best wishes for you and your bride.
Leah
Malcon10t 08-21-2007, 11:44 AM If someone does make the offer, especially if they say "For $400, I will do it", be very leery. More than likely it will not happen and you will be out $400. You need to be aware there are scammers out there, and people who are just plain mean. They will say "I will get you a ressie" and you show up and NOTHING. That will go over great with your girlfriend.
My son also is planning on proposing at Disneyland. He too would love to do it at Club 33, but as we do not know anyone well enough to ask, and I have about another 5-7 years on the list, he has made other plans. (One is asking on the bridge before the fireworks, the other is during the snowfall after fireworks...)
Good luck, and there are plenty of good ideas out there.
Malcon10t 08-21-2007, 11:48 AM BTW- Anyone else get the letter about how Club 33 no longer allows donations to win a dinner, so now, you donate and they host a dinner for you? Exactly how is this different???
hortha71 08-21-2007, 01:02 PM I really do appreciate your kind and encouraging words. I am just grateful to have my request heard by the good people on this board, honestly. The diamond is purchased and the proposal is going to happen one way or the other so I still have faith that a club member's trust, generosity AND sense of romance might kick in and assist me in my quest to make this the best marriage proposal possible!

As always, if you can't make it to Club 33, I and several others here will recommend Napa Rose (http://www.mouseplanet.com/guide.php?pg=ALB401) at the Grand Californian.
june1st1997 08-21-2007, 01:39 PM I have my fingers crossed for you.
But I will let you in on a little secret when it comes to being propsed to... it won't matter where. Really. My husband had a very elaborate plan when he proposed to me. It was on a carraige ride through Central Park. We live in Ca. so this was an event (we do go to NYC a few times a year). I could not tell you where it happened, the color of the carraige, the horse, the driver, whether it was cold outside. I know it was in the evening. But that's it and I have the memory of an elephant. I can tell you the exact moment I KNEW he was proposing and everything he said after that. Everything about HIM after that.
I hope you get to Club 33. But if you don't... Don't fret. All she will remember is YOU and THAT MOMENT. NOT where she is. Honest.
Granted I don't know her, but you get the point.
