View Full Version : Question about Cast Parties and Candlelight Processional [for 2008]
Katran 08-14-2007, 04:42 PM I did do a search and turned up lots of info on the "CP and CP" for this year and past years, but I'm wondering about next year. We'd like to avoid the dates of the Cast Parties. Is there any way to know when they will be next year? I know they're the first week of December (which starts on a Monday next year), but do they tend to be on certain dates (i.e. always the 3rd and 4th) or days of the week (i.e. Mondays and Tuesdays)? Also, does the Candlelight Processional bring huge crowds? Should we avoid it, or is it a must-see? I can tolerate some crowding, but would like to avoid "Spring Break" type crowds (at least for the majority of the trip; I expect the actual Processional will probably bring crowds). I've been told in another thread that the first week or two of December is a good time to go, but I want to make sure we avoid the dates of the Cast Parties.
Malcon10t 08-14-2007, 04:45 PM Candlelight Processional should be the first Sat and Sunday of Dec (so it should be the 6th and 7th.) Cast parties are generally Mon and Tues. No clue about if they will be the 1st and 2nd or the following week.
Is the CP a must see? Really depends on the person. To me, it would be a must see.

The dates for the 2007 CP are Saturday Dec. 1 and Sunday Dec. 2. Vacation Planning confirmed it when I asked about dining packages and tickets. The 2007 cast member parties will be Monday Dec. 3 and Monday Dec. 4. DL will close at 6pm on Dec. 3 and Dec. 4.

Actually, as I said in my first post, I already know about this year, it's next year, 2008, that I was asking about.

K & S 08-14-2007, 09:43 PM Does anyone know when reservations for the Candlelight Processional will start?
TIA

Well then it's all good! :D
By the way, how do the reservations for the Candlelight Processional work? Do you have to sit/stand in a certain area? What do you do during the CP? What exactly is it, anyway? I've heard of it, but never really checked into it.

Thanks! I've been looking for that info. We are supposed to be at Disneyland for the dates of the CM parties, so I think we have some re-planning to do!

I've heard of it, but never really checked into it.Reservations are for dinner and seating to it. It is a lot of choirs singing, and a fairly big name (usually, last year one I would have loved to have heard was Hector Elizando) reciting the story of Christmas. I have yet to go, but an really hoping to take my mom this year. There is also a standing area for those who do not make reservations.

Before you rethink going on the cast party days, keep in mind its "low" season, the lines arent as long and the parks aren't as crowded. You might be able to get all of the rides and shows in in the shortened day and when the parks close head to DTD for dinner and maybe a movie. With the exception of last Dec, we always go during the week of CM parties and have never had problems.

In the past you made reservations by calling Disney Dining on a date given via the Disneyland web site. Last year they decided to take the reservations on line and it was a disaster. The chose to have the on line reservations start the same day of MouseAdventure so here I am sitting next to the entrance to DL with my lap top trying to get signed up. But the system kept freezing. My boyfriend was also at home on our other computer trying to get through and he got to the point of giving our credit card info when the system froze up again. We received an email from Disney stating that they were having technical difficulties and they would contact us to finish the transaction. Needless to say many got this email and were never contacted just like us. We still went to the park and waited to see the program and luckily we were given seats but it wasn't the same as having had the wonderful dinner and then seeing the program.
VickiC 08-15-2007, 02:35 PM When I had little kids I LOVED the CM party days. They show the firewroks at 5:45!!
hefferdude 08-15-2007, 04:21 PM The dates for the 2007 CP are Saturday Dec. 1 and Sunday Dec. 2.
Woo hoo! Already got my res's for Hojo's.:D

If they decide to go the internet route again, I sincerely hope they get an IT outfit with some bigger servers. It was an unfortunate mess when the system crashed. I was lucky enough to get in when they re-opened the online service the second time. There has been discussion that TDA should decide to treat this as a "real" event the way of WDW but maybe I should be careful what I wish for ? Probably should save it for another post.

I second that. To some, it may be just a reason to avoid larger crowds.
To my family, it is an annual event. Our Xmas present to my mom every year is a trip to DLR for the CP.
Katran 09-28-2007, 12:50 PM Thanks for all the input everyone. Somehow I lost track of this thread. I think we're going to try and avoid the Cast Party days, but catch the Candlelight Processional. It will probably be the only time we'll ever go during the Christmas season, so I figure we should really see the Processional. How far in advance do you need to make reservations for that?
DizneyMommy 09-29-2007, 11:37 AM If you are lucky enough to get them at all, you'll need to make them the day they are available. Last year it sold out in something like 15 minutes or an hour or something. Last year I think they announced it pretty close to the date they released them, and that was in early November I think.
If you don't get seats, staking out a spot on the curb will be an all-day affair. Be prepared to waste most of an entire day just waiting, unless you want to take your chances with trying to sneak in to a spot after the 1st performance... but you'll have company, LOTS of company. I definintely think it is a must see... BUT I don't think I would waste an entire day's ticket for my whole family just to see it, if we did not have AP's.

Whew!! I JUST avoided them! I am planning a trip the 5th-8th. Boy would I have been disappointed if I had run into them. I actually asked this question on another board but nobody answered me.
thanks for the info.
