I book PP for five nights the second week of December, Concergie theme park view for 179 a night. normally it is 310 or more a night.
I also have the ent rate at HOJO for the same time, 79 a night for a park view.
Trying to decide. We have stayed at HOJO and DLH but never PP. I am thinking we may have to spoil ourselves and go with PP. Any advice?

Keep calling. We have been trying to get DLH on a certain date and were told no. After weeks we just got it. Just keep trying it can't hurt.

If you got the PP at 179 a night WITH concierge, GO FOR IT! It's a steal. We stayed there last year and enjoyed it. It's close enough to the park but also not as busy as the other hotels so you won't get as much noise or people traffic. Plus it's still a resort hotel so you get the Disney magic either way. Last year we paid more than that for a 2 night stay and it didn't have concierge. This year we're going in November for an 8 day stay and are paying 230 a night (with tax) and NO concierge :( Like someone else mentioned, we're going to keep trying to get the rate but I don't know if we'll get it. It's very disappointing to not save money. On the bright side, we're spending the holidays at Disney and I'm sure once we're there we'll forget about the price tag (until we get home lol)

I am SO sad...I was about to surprise my dh and book the last three nights of our stay at the DLH - conceirge $209/night. She was about to book it, and then it was GONE!! Someone else had just taken the last TWO rooms :crying:. She said PPH and GCH were available, but dh has no desire to stay at any of those. I'm so very sad. :crying:

No desire to stay at the California Grand?
Wow
I've got two nights in Dec booked for the CG for $199. Would take that over the Disneyland Hotel anytime, hands down.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind trying it out sometime...but we prefer the disney theming at the DLH better. Anyway...I called back today, and we got the Concierge lounge for $209/night! YAY! Now I just have to figure out how we're going to pay for it LOL. (We were planning to pay $430 for all nine nights - those three nights will be much MORE than that LOL)

We got the $209 concierge rate at the DLH for November 25-28. I love the Grand Californian, but find the rooms rather small for 5 people--last time we booked adjoining rooms, which was great but quite spendy. We're visiting at a time when the park closes at 8 each night, so we will actually be spending a fair amount of time in our room (and the concierge lounge). Also, it's about what makes my daughters (ages 4, 6 & 7) happy and the hotel stay is almost as exciting as being in the Happiest Place On Earth. When I look at the Tripadvisor reviews I think it's crazy to stay at the DLH, but my girls don't care about the worn fixtures or boring lobby--they just know they're in Disneyland.
We're also booked at the Residence Inn Maingate (that was booked with getawaytoday back in April), so I've got a little while to decide. I'm weighing the convenience of staying on property with the extra space you get with a two-room suite (and hot breakfast v. continental). I love the idea of a fireplace in our room and bunkbeds for the girls at the Residence Inn, but we do have that at home.
The cost is virtually identical, so it's just a matter of location, location, location.

Alright...can someone knock some sense into me??
Ok...we are planning nine nights total down in Anaheim...we have nine nights planned at Castle Inn & Suites. So then I get to this thread...and I book our last three nights at DLH Concierge at $209/night - and THEN - I tried for the three nights previous to that, but there was no availablilty...so I took PP Concierge at $169/night...so now we're spending three nights at Castle Inn & Suties, then Moving to PP for three nights and then to DLH for three nights.
Am I crazy?? Talk some sense into me please...or encourage this reckless behavior...

I'm in a similar situation. I originally booked DLH for 5 nights, then I decided to switch to PPH concierge. But then I thought the walk was too far (we've previously stayed right across the street on Harbor, once at HOJOs it was too long a walk for us and from what I've read PPH a similar walk) so we tried switching to GCH. Could only get 4 nights so our first night at PPH concierge and the 4 follwing at GCH. I thought what a hassle, if we cannot get the first night at GCH as well we should cancel and just stay on Harbor to save money (this trip has a lot of extras planned, F! riverside, Napa Rose, Segway Tour & 3 character meals all for 3 adults and 1 child except the tour which is only 2 adults). BF says no, just check in, check out and check back in to exerience it all (and I'm the Disney nut). So we're leaving it. I will be calling when it gets closer to see if our first night is available at GCH, when I called last the lady I spoke to told me not to call too often, that once a week was really enough and that when it got to be a week or two out then maybe twice a week, she was not very nice...maybe annoyed with us calling to get the nights at GCH everyday?)

The walk from the PPH really isnt all that bad, you can take the monorail or cut through the grand. Some of the rooms at the GCH are so far from the exits that you are walking nearly the length of DTD and then back again.

I've never really took notice of how big GCH is. I didn't realize that it extends nearly as far down as DTD. Hmmm, I am thinking that if we get placed in a far room I will likely not think it worth the money and stay on Harbor after this trip for sure. The walk to HOJOs was bad for us. After a long day of the parks and either pushing or carrying my DD, my mom and I decided that it is just too far (and the staff was not that nice when we checked in either making it not worth it experience wise either). We've stayed at carousel and Park vue, the walk to park vue was great, even though we were in one of the rooms towards the back. The monorail might help though...
we have nine nights planned at Castle Inn & Suites.
My kids and I just stayed at the Castle Inn and Suites and it was HORRIBLE!!!!
The TV channels never came in clear. (Not that you will be in the room much, but my kids like to watch TV before going to the parks in the morning)
The shower drain was clogged so I went to the front desk to tell them. They said they would fix it, but it wasn't. The next day I went down to tell them it was STILL clogged and they said they would fix it. IT WAS NEVER FIXED!
Next time, I will pay a little more to stay someplace else.
You will love staying at the PP and DLH. We got concierge for PP this October for our stay and can't wait!

Wow...that's not good. I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and just keep my DLH and PP ressies...though I will keep checking to see if space opens at DLH...even if it's not concierge...just to get a room. So if any of you on here are planning to cancel an AP4 room from 20-23rd of Sept...let me know before you do it!! I would love to get it LOL.
I would love to do all nine nights - but figure I better keep three of the nights (it's just SO cheap, but maybe there's a reason for that)...I guess we might be REALLY glad that we'll be moving...though no one but me will know. I just hope I can keep the secret - even though it's just three weeks away...it's so hard to keep the secrets. I think when we move to PP dh will be kinda disappointed, but I'll make sure we enjoy the concierge stuff...then when we move to DLH, he'll be estatic!

As long as you're not one of those who needs to unpack every item from your suitcase and fill up the drawers, you should be OK. I live out of my suitcase when I'm on the road, and packing up and moving is simply a matter of packing up toiletries. Sounds like you have a very fun plan to me!

Hi, MPer's! I've been off for awhile, but got DH to say "ok" last night to a Halloween trip! Yipee! :D
We are seriously planning on buying AP's for our family of 4, with a trip in October and most likely another in May, it will certainly pay for itself. With that in mind, I know the AP starts the first day in the part, but will we immediatly have access to the AP web page with discount info? To get the AP4 discount, where do I call, or can you do it online?
We have always stayed off site - Candy Cane, La Quinta and HoJo, and this talk of the AP4 discount makes me ponder the idea of a DLR property, if there is a rate that I can jusitfy. We have loved the HoJo and Candy Cane, and don't mind the walk.
I guess I'm too late to get the Halloween treat night for Friday :crying: Any suggestions? We'll be driving from Reno Thursday afternoon/night, so can't make that one....
I love coming to this board and how willing you all are to sharing your DLR knowledge. A thousand thanks! ;)

You must give them the AP4 code and you only need to have/ or purchase the AP at the front desk when you check in.

Call as often as you like, although it really only matters in the last week or possibly two weeks. Typically the cancellations and rooms held for conventions are only released back to the reservation department in the last week or so.
Don't worry about the walk! The walk to be actually "inside" the hotel is short, so the rest of your travels are through one of the most beautiful hotels around. Besides, if you are worried, just request a room by the front elevators! If they have availability, you will be right there.
I just tried to get Dec 5-8 at the Disneyland Hotel with the AP4 rate, and they said it was sold out. I've seen others try again for rooms and get them, but those were for concierge levels. Should we keep trying back?

If I reserve a room with Disney do I get charged right away? Also, is there a fee if I cancel?

They do take your card info to hold the room at the price they quote you. But they do not charge anything to your card. If you cancel with in 72 hours of your stay nothing is charged.

Blast it! Why can I not get AP4 rates! They apparently have loads of availability next weekend but I keep getting the regular discount rate. Its not bad but the budget could strain around a quickie weekend trip if they'd just "put out." Blast!
