As I've stated before, I'm a bit of a Disney World newbie, so I'd really appreciate some advice from the pros!

I'm looking to book our honeymoon trip to the World for next summer, early to mid August. The way we are looking at it now, I think that we will stay at more than one hotel on the trip partly because we want to experience as much as we can, and partly because it's going to be a long trip and we'd don't want to spend a ton of cash at a Deluxe resort the whole time. We definitely want to stay at one (or maybe two) of the resort hotels for at least part of the trip but we're thinking about doing the first week off-property.

Hotels that we are considering right now are the Hilton in the Downtown Disney area, as well as the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Wilderness Lodge. I also really like the looks of the Contemporary, but don't know if it's worth the bucks that they are charging for the time we will be there.

I'm looking for any feedback regarding these hotels, and any other advice on where we should stay. We'd like something a tad more romantic, since it will obviously be a special occassion. Ease of transportation and nice pools are high on our list of importance. Any input would be great, guys. Thanks in advance everyone!

To totally ignore the first part of your post, I'd really reconsider staying offsite the first week. The moderates can be nice and romantic, and won't break the bank (as much) and the transportation onsite is tons tons better than for offsite.

I've never stayed in either, but I like the feel of both WL and AKL -though all things being equal, I'd probably go for the AKL becuase of the animal observation opportunities (even if you don't get a savannah view room).

Just be prepared for the humidity of Orlando in August (especially compared to Edmonton!)

We stayed at the Grand Floridian for our honeymoon. However, I think any of the deluxe resorts would be great for a honeymoon. If you don't want to spend the $$$ for a deluxe, look into POFQ.

We stayed at the Coronado Springs for our honeymoon. It's our favorite. If you don't mind walking, request a room further away from the amenities. IMO, there was nothing more romantic than looking out over the lake at El Centro during the sunset. The Cabanas have a Caribbean feel, complete with hammocks on the sand beach.

I agree with Dince. Please reconsider staying off-property. Especially since ease of transportation is a high priority for you. Consider staying at the Polynesian Resort, which is a monorail resort, with easy access to the MK & Epcot. Or for easy access to Epcot & Disney-MGM, consider The Yacht or Beach Club or Boardwalk Resort. Then transferring to Port Orlean French Quarter. The French Quarter has boat access to DTD & has only one bus stop. (Although, at slow times, while the bus does stop 1st at POFQ, it may also go over to POR to pick up guest.) The pools at all of the Deluxe resorts are great, but IMHO, the pool at The Yacht & Beach Club is the best, with the one at the Polynesian is a close 2nd. While the pools at both the Caribbean Beach & Coronado Springs are awesome, the transportation, at both resorts, leaves something to be desired. Both resorts have multiple bus stops within its property.

But no matter where you stay, ON PROPERTY, you will be surrounded by the magic. And that's the point, isn't it?

Don't forget about looking into the Yacht and Beach Club for one part of your stay. The pool is amazing and a ton of fun!

I would stay at Carribean Beach for my moderate selection.

My cousin stayed at the Grand Floridian for her honeymoon and LOVED it. (although it didn't take place in Disney her wedding was complete with a Cinderella type coach and Cinderella invitations) To me the Grand Floridian is the most romantic hotel on Disney property. My second choice would be the Polynesian - because that would be like staying in Hawaii! :)

We just got back from our honeymoon, and we were in the same boat. We were chosing from the AK and the WL, and for monetary reasons, we chose WL. We wouldn't have traded it for anything! It was wonderful, romantic, and there weren't that many children around so it wasn't anoying or anything. The grounds were beautiful, it made me feel like we were in the Sequoias.

We visited a couple of the other resorts, and we weren't that impressed with AK after staying at WL. Plus, my BIL has taken his family a few times, and said that AK was only worth it if you have a Savannah room, but he would only stay one or two nights. (We had to change rooms at the WL after a couple of nights, and it was kind of weird getting used to a brand new room.)

We are planning on either staying at the WL again, or shelling out the bucks to stay at the GFloridan next time. You can always have dinners at the different Resorts and get the experience through their wonderful wait staffs.

Good luck! Its really humid at the beginning of August, and be sure to have ponchos with you. We got stuck in Norway in Epcot because of a sudden storm that lasted about 25 minutes! Get the Just Married buttons, and if it's your first trip, My First Visit ones. All the cast members will congradulate you and we got fastpasses for Mission Space because of the buttons! Have fun, I hope this long response helps!
