Does anyone know if this will appear on our credit card as a purchase or as a cash type charge?? If that makes any sense. As our visa check card/ which is what we'll be using has specific limits for both catagories and don't want any problems when we go to pay in the end. Thanks in advance!! Only 7 more days!! :-)

It should be a "charge" type of transaction. However, just like any hotel, they tend to put a hold on a certain amount of funds to cover your onboard charging. I believe you can pre-set this limit if you would like while on the ship.
One thing, I dont recall them reconciling my account on a daily basis. It was one large charge at the end of my trip, and I will assume that it was because I did not hit my preset spending limit beforehand.
Here is my 2 cents... is there any way that you can use a credit card instead of a debit/check card for your trip? I think that is really the best way to go so you do not have them put a large hold on your bank account funds. I keep hearing of horror stories regarding hotels/cruises holding funds then having it mess up other transactions during the trip because funds were not available.
Just a thought...

Thanks Gusman! No we don't believe in "credit Cards" unless it is the visa/check card which is taken directly out of our account. We had considered just putting a cash deposit down and then using the card as a back up plan if we went over that set amount. Although we have 2 different accounts and will be using one while at WDW and the other while on the cruise. Thanks for your help!!! :-)
Based on a cruise where we spent quite a bit....
They authorize amount X on day one. Once you have exceeded that amount, they will capture the funds, and then authorize another Y amount based your spending to that point. In one cruise, they did that auth/capture process five times in total, over the course of two weeks.
Bear in mind that if you book shore excursions through Disney, those charges will be placed on your shipboard account as soon as you book them, so that first authorization can be eaten up very quickly.

frdeb - I understand where you are coming from and thats cool. Kinda going off of what Tony mentioned, I always recommend a charge card since its one of those times where having something else not tied to "green" dollars that can really help, especially if there is an error not in your favor.
As an alternative, people do put a credit card on file for charging but then go to Guest Services on a daily basis (or at the end of the trip if light spenders) and just have the account settled on the debit card. So there is flexibility.
But the nice part about a DCL trip is that, with the exception of gratuities, you can walk on the ship, have a great time for several days, and never spend a dime. (Of course, what fun would that be. :) )

I just returned from a 10 day med cruise and they charged my card on the 2nd, 5th and 10th day. I only spent $1500 on board and they still charged it 3 times.

The only thing we pre-booked was parasailing for 3 and a tube rental. And that I'm assuming will either have already been charged or will be as soon as we check in? Honestly either is fine. Just have limits on each card which I highly doubt we'll go over. But we are going to be at WDW for 6 days prior also and I do have to say that I like to spend!! :D Thanks again!!!
They will be charged to your account when you check in for your sailing.

the way I understand it they charge your card around every time it reaches $250. this might be different or increased in time, but for us on two trips this seemed to be about the threshold.

Well I know just by excursions we are alreay at over $500 and then with pix...which I CAN"T pass up it will be even more. And with souvineirs I know we'll be talking way over $1000 in the end. Can you switch to a back up if you go over what your visa/check card will allow you in the time period they have?
If there is a problem with charging your card, they will contact you and let you know. Just go to guest services, and they can update your profile with a new card.
