HI all! We just booked Thanksgiving at DL in November, so excited! But on Thanksgiving I was wondering where you all MousePlanet members would eat dinner on that day. I've had two options so far, the dinner at the GCH and the dinner buffet at the DL. Has anyone ever been to those and how was it? Any other suggesstions would be helpful! I want to make this dinner a great one for adults and kids. Plus it will be my birthday! Yahoo!

If I were going to have Thanksgiving dinner at the DLR, I'd choose either Napa Rose (in the Grand Californian) or Catal Restaurant (in Downtown Disney). Depending on how old the kids are, Napa may or may not work, and that also depends on how much you want to spend. I think Catal would work regardless. The downside is that both locations tend to not release their special menus until quite late. I would also consider Steakhouse 55 fka Granville's and Storyteller's, depending on what you're looking for.

I wouldn't do the buffet in the Disneyland Grand Ballroom only because we go every year for Mother's Day, so it would be pretty much the same.

I am hoping to go to Storyteller's Cafe for Thanksgiving dinner this year. I was too late to get a reservation there last year and ended up with one for Goofy's Kitchen (but my son got sick and we didn't eat there anyway, my TG dinner was an egg salad sandwich from WWS!) I think the big dinner in the ballroom sounds very nice and fun, but for me it's a little too expensive. Catal sounds very good too, I've seen their menu the past couple of years, but TBH, when it comes to TG, I really like more traditional foods that remind me of my childhood - I love eating more exotic foods and gourmet meals just about any other time, but for TG I just want the basics, KWIM???

We ate at Ariel's Grotto two years ago for Thanksgiving and it was really good. We didn't want to do a buffet. It was nice to be served a good :):) traditional turkey dinner and the kids had personal character interaction with their favorite princesses.

One thing to note is that most of the restaurants at the Disneyland Resort offer a traditional turkey dinner on Thanksgiving, so you have a lot of options. Even some of the non table-service locations (Plaza Inn comes to mind) offer turkey dinners on that day. Last year, we had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner at Carnation Cafe on Main Street. The food was really good and the atmosphere actually struck me as being pretty ideal for that particular holiday.

Oooh Jeff, thanks! Carnation Cafe sounds great, I love it there! Just asking, did they have the original dinner menu plus the Thanksgiving meal as well? Please let me know! Also, thanks for the other replies, it is helping greatly!

We all wanted the turkey dinner, so we didn't pay close attention to the other offerings, but I think it was pretty much just the regular menu otherwise.

We did have a little bit of a problem that they weren't officially offering the traditional turkey dinner in a kid's portion. The only choices they were offering for children were macaroni & cheese and chicken nuggets. This was a huge problem for us as our 3-year-old was repeatedly and excitedly saying "Tatos and turkey!" the whole time we were waiting for our table. Initially, they told us that our only choice was to just order an adult portion, which he never would have come close to finishing. We firmly, but politely, told the waiter that we thought it was very odd that they would not offer the traditional meal for children and basically asked if they could direct us to somewhere in the resort that would.

A short time later, the waiter came back out with the head chef, who told us he would be happy to prepare a 1/2 portion of the turkey dinner for our son. He also then turned to the waiter and told him to be spread the word that this was an option for any families with small children that came to the restaurant that day (we were there shortly after noon). By the time we finished eating and were on the way out, we saw a few other families that had ordered the same thing for their children. Hopefully this year they will have learned their lesson and will have the turkey available on the kid's menu from the beginning...

Other than that bit of a hassle (which obviously turned out fine), we had a very nice Thanksgiving dinner.

We will be spending Thanksgiving at the DLR. Does any one have any suggestions or advice on where to go? We were looking into the DL Hotel buffett dinner... We have a 2 1/2 yr old daughter who loves all characters.. What options are available for the best variety of food and best interaction with characters?

My boyfriend and I will be at the resort Thanksgiving week and day and were wondering if any of you have been there for Thanksgiving and where you like to eat. Since it's Thanksgiving and we'll be away from family for the first time, we would like to have familiar Thanksgiving food (turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc.) rather than regular theme park food (churro and ice cream, etc.). Suggestions? Do any of the sit-down restaurants at either park or DTD have a specialty menu for the holiday, for instance?

Thanks in advance:)

thanks adrienne for directing me over here. I read the top part and now hear there's something going on at one of the ballrooms. Where can I get more info? Price? Menu? Booking? etc. Has anyone done this and thought it was worth it?

Thanks for the 411. So do we call through the regular Disney dining phone number or do we book through the Hotel hotline? So 60 days, would be the end of this month so it gives us time to plan. Thanks so much for the information. :)

Thanks LaurensMom for the link. It's everything I wanted to know and then some, so now we know that we have plenty of options for that day. This will be our first turkey-day sans family so needless to say we were scrambling for dining options.

Hey!
We're going to be there during the Thanksgiving Holiday. We're not planning on going in the park that day, but want to have a nice Thanksgiving dinner somewhere. Which restaurant in the resort would be fun for a family and a nice dinner? Thanks!~

Oh thanks!
Ok, I've been to Disneyland a million times, but don't know anything about any of those restaurants...I've heard of them, but don't know much about them.
Where are each of them at?
Where and what is Storyteller's like?
My brother's 7 years old....would any of those be inappropriate?
Thanks!

Story Tellers for Thanksgiving night and was told no characters there that night. I have read that there are Characters there that night but the CM at the reservations phone number said "NO." Anyone ever been there Thanksgiving night and seen Characters?
