View Full Version : Airport Shuttle Question
BluestBayou 07-19-2007, 06:00 PM Hi all! I'm new here and this is my very first post:D I have been to Disneyland over 20 times in my life, and every time driven from the San Francisco Bay Area. Next week, we are flying!! Yes, first time ever flying into Orange County. We are not renting a car, but rather taking a big bus type shuttle to our hotel on Harbor Blvd. Has anyone ever done this before? I emailed the company and they quoted me some rates, etc. but I would love to hear anyone's first hand account of this type of transportation. The people in my party are me, my husband and our 2.5 year old daughter. Any tips?
disneyhound 07-19-2007, 06:31 PM We have taken both the Airport Bus and the Shuttle Vans. We prefer the Vans. The drop off is much quicker, as the vans only hold 8 or so people. Could be as few as two stops if each group is 4 people. The cost is only a few dollars more per person. When we took the bus, were were staying at the Best Western on Harbor across the street from DL. But, turned out to be the last stop. My dd and I experienced about 1/2 hour looking at DL from the bus window while stopping at all these different hotels! Last January, we flew into JW, jumped on a van and we were the first drop-off (Tropicanna)! :D
jazzysmom 07-19-2007, 07:29 PM Here's another vote for the Prime Time or Super Shuttle type companies. The big buses take forever, and it is worth the extra couple of bucks to know that you will be dropped off within 3 stops. There are plenty of them outside the airport when you arrive so no worries if you don't have a reservation. Just look for one that says something like "Disneyland Resort area" & hop in. If you don't see one, tell one of the employees in the usually blue or red jackets & one will be along in a few minutes!
Wendi 07-19-2007, 08:00 PM I have always had great service with Super Shuttle. Your daughter will be free on Super Shuttle - be sure to take her carseat - they do have seatbelts (full sized buses will not).
CharmingsWoman 07-20-2007, 10:37 AM We have to leave the DLH at 4 am. What would be the best way to get to LAX? (no rental car)

Supershuttle. Or one of the van services. It is unlikely that you would have to go to other stops at that time of the morning.
wvnative 07-20-2007, 11:21 AM Count me as another vote for Super Shuttle. You can prebook/prepay through their website and the van was waiting for us at the curb. We only waited about 5 minutes for a full load and we were the first stop (Desert Inn). They were right on time on our trip back too. It was only $10/person each way +tip.
BluestBayou 07-20-2007, 09:22 PM Thanks so much guys. I reserved trips to and from the airport from our hotel on SuperShuttle. I couldn't believe it was only $10 per adult and my daughter was free!! Hope it all works out.
leota's necklace 07-22-2007, 01:37 PM I have to be a spoilsport about SuperShuttle. I used to be their biggest fan but after two or three trying experiences in a row I have decided to try the DL Express this time around.
I have had a driver circle the airport three or four times, trying to get more fares into the van. (After the last pass we threatened to mutiny and we were on our way.) I've also had drivers make stops in residential areas in Riverside, I think Placentia, and Buena Park before going to the Resort area. You just never know who is sharing a ride with you. If you get eight people all going to the Resort, it's a breeze. If you have less than capacity, or other passengers being dropped at home, it can be a real trial. I had a three-hour late-night van ride once that I will not forget.
This trip I am staying at the DL Hotel so I think we will be the first stop. I hope. :)
Now, the trip BACK to the airport, SS has never been a problem. I have had one late van, that is all, everyone else has been prompt and the time cushion they built in saved us from having any problems.
Kricky 07-22-2007, 02:04 PM We took the Disneyland Resort Express bus last year. The bus is like a greyhoud charter bus, not a city bus, so it's very comfortable. You don't need car seats or booster seats, which was a big plus for us since we weren't using one on the plane (our daughter was 5 at the time). If my understanding is correct, according to California law, children under 6 or 60 lbs need to be in a car seat or booster seat in rental cars, shuttle vans, or taxis.
yenko427 07-22-2007, 08:20 PM We have used the DL express two times in the last year and using it again in Sept. We have stayed both on and off site and had no issues. It is comfortable, no need to have a car seat in tow and a bathroom on board as well. The drivers were right on time for pick ups as well.
Partymagic 07-22-2007, 10:11 PM Thanks for the feedback on the DL Express, that is what I was planning on taking in September. I have 2 small children and having a bathroom on board is a huge feature especially if we get stuck in traffic etc. I have previously used the Supershuttle before I had kids and the service was good but I am looking forward to trying something new:)
