View Full Version : Spring Break 2008
yohomama212 07-12-2007, 02:08 PM Does anyone know when that busy "Spring Break" period will be next year? I'm trying to plan a trip for several friends of mine and we're looking at March or April, but want to avoid the big crowds and high price tags usually associated with that time of year. Easter is March 23rd next year, if that helps anyone.

stan4d_steph 07-13-2007, 07:01 AM Doing a search on "Spring Break" will give you an idea of what it has been in the past. Generally, Spring Break encompasses a wide range of time given the different school systems in CA as well as neighboring states, both primary and university-level.
MermaidHair 07-13-2007, 07:49 AM Because Easter is so early this year, I would think the Spring Break window will be long. Oakland Unified has the week after Easter off but I know of other districts in our area that have the second week of April off. If I were planning I would guess that it will be pretty busy from just before Easter through the third week of April.
mommyof4 07-26-2007, 07:07 AM I was wondering what days the US has there spring break ? Here they will probably get off from march 21 to 30th off . We are trying to go from March 14 to the 20th. ALso where do i go to get the hours of the parks for then ?
Thanks
mommy-san 07-26-2007, 07:21 AM When we were planning our first trip I seem to remember someone saying that pretty much all of March can be really busy. Easter/spring break extended vacations I guess.
I cannot verify that but it makes sense!
Are you overlapping your vacation and our GP Easter break?

splash 07-26-2007, 07:26 AM We live in Washington and our spring break is March 28-April 5.

Roxanne i am not for sure when the gp break will be but th 15th is our anniversary . We could make it earlier or maybe even later but we also want the parks to have late hours when we go .
Thank you
DizneyMommy 07-26-2007, 08:05 AM Spring breaks in California especially really vary throughout the month. Many schools Spring Breaks do not even coincide with Easter anymore, and others are the week before or the week after. Most of the immediate local area near the park gets either the week before Easter or the week after Easter off.
Being that Easter is very early this year, I would suspect that the busy period will be longer than usual, probably from March 15th through late April.

seanutbutter 07-26-2007, 08:30 AM I live in Washington and my spring break will likely take place during the first week of April. I imagine both the months of March and April will be notably busy, since spring breaks vary greatly from school district to school district.
mommyof4 07-26-2007, 08:43 AM Thank you everyone. I know that it will be busier in March, I was wondering if there is a website or a toll free phone number that i could call to find out the schedule of parades and the hours of the parks ?? as the website only goes for three months
Thanks

The number you can call for information is 714-781-4565. But the info won't be available. They haven't even started planning that far in advance. They don't even have the parade times for Christmas yet. The people on the phone had the same info that is on Disneylands website.
You can look at MousePlanets update area and look at last years info to get an idea. I would expect spring break crowds all the month of March and the first half of April.
ssturgeo 07-26-2007, 12:02 PM hoping the week of March 3 won't be too bad...and that neither will the weather. From your posts looks like the spring break crowds will be a little later than that.
Darkbeer 07-26-2007, 12:29 PM This upcoming year (2008) is going to be hard to call, with Easter Sunday early this year (Mar. 23rd). Disney will have PEAK Easter Break being March 14th thru the 30th, (maximum hours, full daily entertainment, etc) with the first half of March and maybe the first week of April having extended hours, but a bit less than peak.
While a lot of schools still have the week off based on Easter, more and more schools, especially colleges and universities have gone to a fixed week, such as the 7th week of the semester, or the 3rd week of March.
In 2007, all of March was busy (extended Spring Break Hours started March 9th in 2007), and then you had the 2 Peak weeks of Easter in April. Now the schedule is going to be COMPRESSED. If you could move your dates to April, I would in a heartbeat.
mommyof4 07-26-2007, 01:50 PM Thank you i am not exactly sure when we are going i jsut thought march would be a good time to celebrate all the occasions but i will have to wait and see if maybe i can change it but i do want to go when there is late hours so maybe a little earlier , who knows but this info is helpful. Teh kids are going to miss some school no matter what though .

DLmomof2 07-26-2007, 05:07 PM Here in northern NV it is the second week of March. I would recommend April for your trip if your able to go then.
partyoffive 07-26-2007, 11:15 PM Thank you for the number and the info .
Just an observation from '07 - We went the week before the extended hours started - Sunday through Thursday the first week of March and it was great! Sunday was busy becuase it was the last day of a cheerleading competition, but the other days were little or not wait - We have planned for the same week again in 2008 - I don't care too much about extended hours and I liked the smaller crowd. Hope it helps! Maybe we'll be there the same time! :)
partyoffive 07-26-2007, 11:17 PM Oh, and the first wave of Utah Spring Breaks start March 14 - and Disneyland is a HUGE spring break destination here!

I was talking to hubby and he might be willing to change but i still would like to be there for our anniversary on the 15th and then if we waited till later end of march begginning of april it is my daughters birthday and she wants to be hear to have her party lol. Sincee easter is earlier this year won't the hours change earlier on or do they always stay the same?? What time are you going partoffive? maybe we will be there the same time lol
wvnative 07-27-2007, 08:44 AM I know that at least our school district (Tempe, AZ) has the second week of March off as well. Other local districts often have the same time frame plus the week before or after off as well.
I know we're planning to be there the end of that week (3/12-3/16).

The week before and after Easter will probably be 8-midnite.
