I need help picking/not picking excursions at this port. I really want to get off the boat and see the island since I have never been there before. I am struggling between which excursion to select. I thought about the Ardastra Gardens & City Tour. I figured I cold see the most wiht this tour. I also thought about going to Atlantis or just plain walking around. However I am a little intimidated about just walking around in a strange city like Nassau.

Any suggestions?

I can't speak for excursions, but when I did Nassau with DCL, my friend and I were off the ship for an hour before we decided the ship was more fun. You can head over to Atlantis -- but it costs $$ to do anything. The town is right there -- so you don't have to walk too far to see things or do a bit of shopping. I say go off early, then come back to the ship to relax and have lunch.

I agree with Niwel about the ship being more fun. On our first trip, we did the Atlantis beach day. The beach was very beautiful but there were so many locals trying to sell us stuff, that is was not very relaxing. The Atlantis is an amazing hotel with some of the nicest aquariums anywhere. We checked out the hotel, had an OK lunch in one of the restaurants, and that was about all there was to do. The pools are pretty cool but you need to reserve a room at the hotel to be able to use them. Last trip, we stayed on the ship the entire Atlantis day, I found Nassau to be a lot nicer, when I was viewing it from the peaceful, adult pool deck, with a cocktail in my hand! :)

On our trip last November we (a group of 15) did the "sunshine glass bottom boat tour" and it was terrible! I have done glass bottom tours before and LOVED it, so I wanted to share this experience with my kids. Well the boat was overcrowded and dirty. And once at the stop to look down below the boat we had to wait our turn to climb down to the boat's basement area and got a small peak into bubly and murky water. Not seeing any fish. We had to hold our kids up to see over this little wall around the "glass". Then after that we headed back up to our seats and went back to Nassau. After that we got off walked around for 10 minutes and headed back to the ship. The ship was LESS CROWDED and it made it perfect pool time! My kids had the slide to themselves ;)
