Disclaimer - I am not an attorney - and I dont even play one on TV.

When it comes to creating a web site, in many cases, you can do whatever you want within reason. Any images or information that you put up there should be yours to use legally or images in which you have written permission to use. In other words, dont creatively acquire images from the WDW web site and then use them in yours. Additionally, dont scam information from other sites as well. In other words- make the page and the information within your own work.

As for how you name your web page, I think it would be best to stay away from the term "Disney" for sure. "Mickey" may be ok, but I think a name that was more neutral may be better. In other words, you dont want to have a name that will be somewhat misleading to someone who is looking for an actual Disney web page.

As for getting sued, I would not worry too much about it. If you do something that crosses a line with the folks at Disney, chances are you would get a nastygram from a lawyer first before anything else.

Have fun creating your page.

Our philosophy when we started MousePlanet was better to be safe than sorry. We had a list of words we specifically avoided. Mickey was on it. ;)

Say, how did that name get chosen, anyway?

I've had my website up since March of '06, and I've never had any problems. People from Disney Corporation visit my site all the time, sometimes several times a day. I even used Mickey as the background of the site. So I wouldnt worry about it at all. :geek::)

Thank for the input everyone! I'll let you all know when I put my site up. :D

Sosai X - how much traffic do you get a day, my site is similar in nature - but not for name tags. I'm just wondering how much my site will cost me, lol :p

i think my hosting service is 25 bucks a month, but that includes the 4 other websites i have. I get 20 gigabytes of transfer per month, but I never have come close to that.

I have seen a lot of copyright infringements on may sites, but Disney seems to ignore them, but they do have the right, and have exercised it to have you remove any and all copyrighted material. If that doesn't stop you, they will shut down your site. But if you are a fan site and not picking a fight with Disney, they will leave you alone for the most part.

There are also "fair use" exceptions, but they are lengthy and specific and for the most part, you will not fall under the fair use umbrella.

What a fun site that was! You do a great job.

My favorite was the one with Tinkerbell and the stars... it seemed more magical even if it wasn't masculine.

Do you have a YOMD Fastpass?
