Well, I went to USH today and saw Spiderman the Musical and it is very similar to Rent (The Broadway show). First of all, this is a really great show with talented actors and is very energetic. I loved it, and you have to see it. Anyways, the Rent connection. Walking in, I thought (wow the set looks like the Rent set) and it is very close. Metal structures, NYC in the background, metal baclonies it's very close. Then the black girl comes out and starts singing and I thought to myself wow, that reminds me of Joanne because of the dance moves that were very similar to stuff she did in We're Okay or Tango: Maureen. Then when Mary Jane (?) came out she was dressed sleezy like Mimi from the musical. Then during her solo, she goes up onto one of the balconies and starts dancing against the rail as Mimi did in Out Tonight.
Then, Green Goblin came out and the pyros went off and something happened and the show was cancelled. It looked like Spiderman was hurt badly, but I'm not sure. Any details that you may know?

A quote from a David Koenig article, "That hasn't stopped Universal employees from calling the show "RENT, starring Spider-man" and "The Rocky Horror Spider-man Show," or decrying: "Instead of the show, they should have torn out the theater and built the Islands of Adventure Spider-man ride there!"

OH! I hit this on the nail! Heh, I knew that Spiderman was a cheap copy of RENT (or at least the dance moves and the set make it seem that way) lol. I think it's pretty funny that people think just like me, heh. I just hope they don't tone it down too much, it's a good show.

Although there is probably MUCH better use of that area. They could never build that ride in that area because of the stability of the land. PLus its not big enough, thayw ould have to take out Animal Planet Live as well. It is also on top of the hillside and I believe is not feasibly possible. Anything of that nature would have to be built downstairs. Hmmmm, I wonder where they are going to build the next "BIG" thing that Screamscape says is rumored to come in a few years. I think that the only possible area would be downstairs, but it looks pretty crowded and small to me???

:D
I personally thought it sucked massively. There are scenes where they dance for no reason, with no connection to Spider-Man! What the monkeys???
