View Full Version : Any other Disneyland 1/2 Marathoners Not ready to run this Sept?
Gone2Disneyland 07-04-2007, 10:31 AM I ran the inaugural one last year. All year previous to that day, I was fairly gung-ho in my training. So I was really proud of myself when I crossed the finish line of my first ever 1/2 marathon. This year, blah!! Between work and hobbies, and a surprisingly apathetic attitude, I've had a heck of a time maintaining a training schedule, let alone any interest. I just ran 2 1/2 miles this morning, on the 4th of July, 61 days out from Labor Day.
Anyone else in the same boat as I am, floundering but cognizant? :p

Well I sure am in the same boat. I have not officially registered yet and the Disney site still says it is not full, but I promised my brother in law that I would run it with him. I have not been running enough because it was 116 degrees here today for god's sake! I did swim a couple of times this week. I need to start running at night but as of right now(midnight), it is still over 100 outside. I am still planning on making the run but I know I need to step it up a little!
98 % FULL, guess I had better register!
stan4d_steph 07-05-2007, 12:33 PM If you're doing the 10 week training plan, you're not too far behind. I may do that race eventually, but I'm not doing it this year.
This month's Runner's World is a half marathon edition, so you might want to pick up a copy and check it out. There's even information on how to run in hot conditions, Mr. Abominable. :)
timl33 07-06-2007, 09:46 AM Yeah, I'm waaay behind, but hopefully I still have a good enough base from earlier this year to get right back into it.
stan4d_steph 08-01-2007, 12:16 PM How's everyone doing? It's a little more than a month away now! :)
Gone2Disneyland 08-01-2007, 09:22 PM Coincidentally, I just got back from my second run this week. That makes two – count 'em, TWO – times I've run this week :p , let alone the last two weeks. Ran 3 miles on Monday, 5.6 miles tonight. Both times I just took my time and didn't stress and had a good time running. My attitude's finally on the positive side rather than looking for reasons not to run. If all goez well, I hope to keep up with it through the next 33 days until Labor Day.
Mr.Abominable 08-04-2007, 01:15 AM I have done some running this week and I have been eating better. The rooms are booked now and I am sure that my brother in law is ready, so I have tried to kick it into gear a little bit!
PS. A quick question for all you pro runners, Do you try to lengthen your stride to cover more ground faster, or does this generally tire you out faster? I am still trying to develop a good rythym. (LOL, is that how you spell RYTHYM?)
UltraMM 08-05-2007, 10:35 PM Here is the link to the " Live Results" Disney has for the race. You can get updates to a pager, text messages, or by email. Have all your friends follow you.

Good Luck!
timl33 08-08-2007, 11:03 AM Did you guys receive your race number pick up card yet?
The website says:
Registered Half Marathon Runners: Your official race number pick-up card and waiver will be mailed along with your commemorative program in late July. You will need to bring the race number pick-up card and waiver, along with photo identification, with you to packet pick-up at the DisneylandŽ Health & Fitness Expo. Packet pick-up at the Expo is mandatory. There is no packet pick-up on race day.
It's past Late July and I never got mine. Should I panic?

Here is from Disney's site today:
"Registered participants should receive their program in the mail by Friday, August 17th."

Oops. That little gem was right above the paragraph I quoted. :)
