We will be there October 5-13 and I'm wondering how the crowds are at that time. Should I be expecting large wait times, or not?

Great time to go, we will be there a week after you. Misfitcharacterlover 06-27-2007, 01:06 PM October is a good time to go. splash 06-27-2007, 01:18 PM How are the temperatures in October? What about humidity? Drince88 06-27-2007, 01:19 PM In October, I recommend enjoying World Showcase on non-weekend days. The Food and Wine Festival is in October, and the locals tend to flock pretty heavily on the weekends. They have booths set up around World Showcase (about 2 dozen) that have generally 3 'tastes' of different foods and usually 2-3 beers or wines. It can get pretty spendy to eat a meal that way, but it's a lot of fun to try all the different items! There are also different seminars and tastings (some for free) in a couple different locations that fill up quite quickly on weekends. ETA: The weather is often very nice in October, relatively lower humidity (than Sept), generally lower risk of tropical activity (the later in the month the better - I don't remember when Wilma hit in 2005, but pretty sure it was in Oct), BUT last year on the Sunday I was there, they had record highs (I was melting in my shorts and T-shirt) and 2 days later, record lows (not hitting freezing, but to my 'Southern aclimated blood' I was cold cold and had to buy another sweatshirt to layer.) KJSJpipe 06-27-2007, 02:58 PM I don't remember when Wilma hit in 2005, That would have been the night my family and my friends family and I were in the MK at MNSSHP and into the next morning :rolleyes:. We had a fine time any way. The day after the MK & EPCOT(?) opened around 1pm and stayed open really late (for Oct), I want to say after midnight- 1am maybe. The other parks did not open. That was Oct 23/24 2005. tdelaney_98 06-27-2007, 06:58 PM ETA: The weather is often very nice in October, relatively lower humidity (than Sept), generally lower risk of tropical activity (the later in the month the better - I don't remember when Wilma hit in 2005, but pretty sure it was in Oct), Yep, it was October. We were there for Ms. Wilma (not a huge deal, and we can say we were there during a hurricane!). We were there from October 20-29th. I LOVE October. It's my favorite time to go. We also went the very first week of March, and it was ok too. Inkyprintz 06-27-2007, 09:08 PM We will be there October 5-13 and I'm wondering how the crowds are at that time. Should I be expecting large wait times, or not? I LOVE going in October - in fact we'll be going Oct 19-27! Splash -Are you planning on going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? The last time I went in October was in 2005 for my 40th b-day. For the most part, the crowds were light - at least compared to going in the summer. I remember the weekend being a little crowded but I'm sure it was because we were spoiled by the lighter week-day crowds! splash 06-28-2007, 06:23 AM Yes we are going to MNSSHP on Mon. the 8th. We thought it would be cool to be there until midnight. Trying to talk the boys into dressing up - my son is 13. My husband and I may wear halloween shirts or something. Has anyone else been to halloween party and how is it? efoxx 06-28-2007, 07:35 AM That would have been the night my family and my friends family and I were in the MK at MNSSHP and into the next morning :rolleyes:. That was Oct 23/24 2005. That's so funny... we arrived that night, landing in near hurricane conditions, and spent the night at the airport. next morning our limo service drove us through the near empty streets and dropped us off at WL where we were spending the next 10 days with friends. We ended up in Epcot when it finally opened. the least crowded I have ever seen the place. Back on target, the crowds are pretty light as long as there are no hurricanes anywhere nearby. the days after Wilma had record crowds (for the time) as people fled their homes while power and water were restored, and schools were closed. weather varies wildly from down right hot to cold for florida. in my several trips to Orlando in Oct we have seen highs in the upper 80's low 90's and highs in the 50's. layers are the way to go as you can see these extremes in a single day sometimes. Inkyprintz 06-28-2007, 03:38 PM ... Has anyone else been to halloween party and how is it? We went to MNSSHP in 2005 - and had a blast! The Halloween themed parade was the most memorable Disney parade ever. It was so exciting when the headless horseman came thundering down the street! I liked it so much, we're going twice when we go to WDW this year! I love the look of the park on the party nights with all the mood lighting and the projections on the walls. kadiehl 06-29-2007, 11:06 AM October is a good time to go. Good weather and decent crowds. Ditto...the crowds are a little larger than January but you wont wait long for things at all. Be prepared for the chance for some warm days...it was in the 80's when we were there. Layers is the way to go...cool mornings, warm afternoons. If you can swing it, try to go to one of the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Parties....they are worth it and loads of fun and if you get there at say 6:45 and can get in...you will walk right on the big rides with no waits....we never had to wait at all for rides that night of our party. Our experience with that party made me want to try the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party this year when we go!! Can't wait :D jlagana 06-29-2007, 03:29 PM In October, I recommend enjoying World Showcase on non-weekend days. Thanks for the good tip. I will be there Oct 26th - Nov 4th and I will go to Epcot on a Monday for sure!:) princess21 07-21-2007, 02:36 PM so my friend and i are going for MNSSHP in october and have a problem. she is working and can take a day off but not much more. so we could either go the week after columbus day weekend and have a day less or go that weekend and pay more but have an extra day. i am afraid that an increase in crowds (plus more for airfare and hotel) would make the extra day not worth it. any thoughts? pirateship 07-21-2007, 05:13 PM Tough decision. It would be nice to have an extra day, but with the holiday it will probably be more crowded. Plus, you said it was more expensive. So I would choose not to go Columbus Day weekend. Wendi 07-22-2007, 08:47 AM I would take the extra day... I don't know of anyone who still gets Columbus Day as a holiday anymore so I wouldn't think it would contribute to crowds at all. D2000lands 07-22-2007, 12:41 PM I would take the extra day... I don't know of anyone who still gets Columbus Day as a holiday anymore so I wouldn't think it would contribute to crowds at all. Many that work for the government directly (Federal, some states, and some localities) do have that day off as a holiday, so it will likely be more crowded. I'd choose another time. I think it would be worth taking an extra vacation day from work and do it that way instead. But again, that's just me. :) prekmom 08-23-2007, 07:41 AM Well, i went ahead and did it!! My 5 y/o daughter has a fall break 10/10-10/12. So i decided to take her back to Disney without her little sister and her daddy. We are going with a friend and her 5 and 3y/o. (we just went in June) She had so much fun and i thought that it would be exciting and fun for just us to go and have a "girls trip". Do you know if the crowds are thin at that time, i know other areas have a fall break too. I am assuming that the weather is warm. I live in Louisiana and it is usually warm in the beginning of October. :D stan4d_steph 08-23-2007, 09:46 AM My 5 y/o daughter has a fall break 10/10-10/12. ...
