View Full Version : Stroller advice [Disneyland]
swimmergirl 06-14-2007, 07:45 PM We're headed to DL next week with a 3 year old and a 3 month old. It will be our first trip to DL (we're WDW regulars) and our first trip to Disney with kids. We plan on brining our ultralight Graco stoller with the carseat attached for the 3 month old. Our thinking is that he can snooze in the carseat and we can pull him out to go inside some places and leave the stroller outside. We have an umbrella stroller for the 3 year old, but we're not sure if we should bring that or rent a stoller in the parks. Any advice? Do you think it will be too bulky to have the infant in a travel system stroller? Thanks!:)

You don't say where your staying but ask yourself this: Do I want to be carrying a sleeping 3-y/o back to my hotel or would I rather be pushing a stroller. ;)

squirrel44 06-15-2007, 09:55 PM I've heard if you have a Disney Visa Credit Card then you can get a free stroller rental each day. Don't know if that will help you. I'm bringing one for my niece who will almost be 4 when we go.
julbright 06-16-2007, 07:27 AM just another tidbit that we picked up on our trip last week... that you can take rented strollers all the way to the tented area where they search bags, and you can park hop with the same stroller (we always emptied the whole thing and hopped by walking a re-rented....so not necessary). I only wish you could use them in DD as well... but that few extra yards to the tents at the end of the night was a lifesaver for my sleepy 5 year old.
and yes, up to two free strollers every day with a disney visa - but make sure you ask - the first day I didn't know they still did that and didn't ask and they charged me. the next day I just asked if there was a discount and she said yes - they are free! I was like score! we rent 2 so it saved us 18 a day (well, there is a disney visa discount so it was more like 14 a day...)
june1st1997 06-16-2007, 03:49 PM We took our DD when she was 3 months. We used a snap n go and carseat (which is basically a stroller system) and it was perfect. We had no problem with the size. I have never rented a stroller because I like packing it before I leave the car or hotel and not having to stop and rent a stroller when I get in the gates.
Have a great trip.
Koala Gurl 06-19-2007, 09:05 PM I have never used the infant seat in a stroller...so I am not 100% sure about this...but are you talking about taking the infant seat out of the stroller to go on rides, or say restaurants? I just think it would be bulky to move that seat around. (Maybe I am totally misunderstanding.)
That, and my DS was also not a huge lover of the infant seat, and even that young preferred the stroller to the infant seat (especially for a long day.)

Strollers that carry infant seats aren't that much bulkier than other strollers but...
The OP won't be taking the infant seat out to go on rides because infant seats aren't allowed on rides. ;) And depending on which restaurants you eat at, taking the infant seat out might be the best bet because not all restaurants are big enough to allow in strollers and a 3-month-old sounds a little young for a highchair just yet.

rose7116 06-21-2007, 09:49 AM Some of the restaurants have those folding things that cradle the carrier. Those are great, but for the restaurants that don't you'll have to sit it on the floor. Yeah, 3 month olds usually can't sit up just right for the highchair. So, unless she plans on holding the baby the entire time while dining, she'll have to bring in the carrier.
Koala Gurl 06-21-2007, 11:37 AM I always just brought my stroller in with me to a restaurant when DS was too young for a high chair, so I never even thought of the infant carrier. (I never ran into a problem; just explained to the CM DS was too small for a high chair, and they were very accommodating.) :)
MommyTo2Boys1Girl 06-25-2007, 02:55 PM I would take the umbrella stroller for the 3yo. As another poster mentioned, you won't want to carry your sleeping 3yo back to the hotel, even if you are staying at GCH.
On a side note, can your baby just sleep in the stroller? Reason I ask is that it is best for the baby to have a little more space to move around, stretch legs etc. Not to mention the heat, those infant seats are not really ventilated well. Just thinking comfort for the wee one.
DizneyMommy 07-02-2007, 07:03 AM Bring a Bjorn or other child carrier like that for the infant. My daughter went on rides from 4 months on in the Bjorn and I never had a problem with keeping her in it while I rode, she loved it.
