Hi everyone I am new here and I am sure this has been asked before but I havent found it. I am wondering which one is better for small aged children WDW or Disneyland? We are planning on visiting next year when our daughter is almost 4 years old and would like to go to the one that is more for smaller children with rides and such. If anyone could give me some insight on which park they would choose for this age I would be greatful thanx!

I'd choose WDW, there's a lot more to do, especially for little kids. Just more choice in general, and if you do a character meal they have the princess meal or Cinderella's Royal table, which are both good for little girls!

In large part, I think it depends on how much time you have.
Disneyland Resort includes Disneyland Park (the original) and Disney's California Adventure - plus 3 on-property hotels. It is relatively compact, and some of the off-site hotels are actually closer to the gates than the on-property ones. The most efficient way to get between the two parks is to walk. (They are REALLY close to each other)
WDW includes the Magic Kingdom (most like Disneyland Park), Epcot (consists of Future World and World Showcase), Disney-MGM Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Additionally, there are over a dozen on-property hotels. The only two parks you can walk between are a good half-hour walk apart.

Just back a few weeks ago with 5yr old twins and a 20 month old. We are DL veterans and this was our first trip to WDW.
One thing you didn't mention is where you were coming from?
We flew cross country and it took the kids a couple of days to really adjust to the time change, but once they did they were fine. The only real downside to that was they were hard to wake up in the morning and get going until they adjusted.
Will your 4yr old still be taking naps (Our twins stopped right about thier fourth birthday)?
DRINCE88 described DL resort perfectly regarding the compactness. You walk everywhere and most hotels you can get to within 20 minutes which is GREAT if you are returning for an afternoon nap. With WDW it's an hour travel time back to your hotel (there are a few exceptions), so you lose a big chunk of the afternoon if not all of it.
There is more to do at WDW but at DL you will not be bored and it is very easy to get around and to ride the rides.
We found that the twins were perfect for WDW, the 20 month old I wouldn't recomend for a cross country trip.

Here's why I would vote for Disneyland (without knowing the distances involved) - To me, to do WDW right, you have to have several days. As others have said, WDW is so spread out. So you have a lot to do and a lot of travel time between locations.
When I've been travelling with a 4-y/o, I'd rather have a shorter trip than a longer trip. You can "do" Disneyland in a shorter time with less 'running around' on buses and such.
Then you can go to WDW later when the 4-y/o is older.

What is this thing called a "nap" you speak of? My 3 1/2 year old has rarely ever taken naps.
It totally depends on how much time you have. My vote would be for Disneyland as well due to the size of it. We've taken our son to WDW as well but it requires alot more time and energy to get around and to visit everything.

I'd say whichever one YOU prefer to visit. Unless you have an extremely perceptive 4yr old, she's not really going to appreciate the differences between the two resorts.
So if the travel time involved does not make it a "no brainer" then decide which resort you want to visit, and your daughter will be thrilled either way.
