View Full Version : Labor Induction Techniques in the Parks?
yohomama212 05-25-2007, 11:57 AM Okay, last night I had some definite signs of labor and today it's getting more obvious that it's going to happen soon! If I can beat the time I had DD in, I'll still have the new baby today! My bro is in town for the day, so we are definately going to the park as long as I can keep walking and talking!
Does anyone have TNT labor induction techniques from the parks? Something special to eat? An attraction to ride? Any place to visit that people don't usualy think of? ANYTHING!?! I will try it all!
Thanks,
Elizabeth
KJSJpipe 05-25-2007, 12:19 PM No hints but just wanted to say Good Luck! Safe and Quick delivery to you!
vickieluvsmickey 05-25-2007, 12:28 PM You're more brave than I could ever be! Sorry, I don't have any labor techniques for you (2 planned cesareans), but wishing you the all the best.
If baby's born at DL, can you put "Disneyland" as the place of birth on the birth certificate? ;)
Good luck.

Drince88 05-25-2007, 01:12 PM When my sister in law was late with her first, the midwife suggested castor oil as a labor inducer, in addition to walking around.
VickiC 05-25-2007, 01:12 PM Yikes. Given that my baby # 1 took about 20 hours, baby # 2 came in three hours, if I ever had a #3 I'd be camped out at the hospital at the first sign of labr.
adriennek 05-25-2007, 01:20 PM The OB/GYN practice my sister used to work in before Med School recommended beer. In fact, she was forcing beer into me with #3. (And when I say "forcing" I think I had ONE. Maybe I had a second two days later. I don't like beer...)
My problem with #3 was that I'd get contractions for 30-45 min and then they'd stop. That happened for over a really long time.
And it's well known that one of the best labor inducers of all is sex.

lauras5boys 05-25-2007, 03:16 PM When I was pg with my twins I used to climb Tarzan's Treehouse hoping it would put me into labor. It didn't work though :p
All of mine ended up being induced because I was overdue.
mistofviolets 05-26-2007, 04:55 PM The best labor inducer is to be somewhere inconvenient. So...hmmm...maybe try the longest lines? LOL.
Walk and squat...thats my best advice! (squats liik funny but they work. Lower the baby, gets everything in the right positions, and puts pressure on the cervix. You want the baby down as far as possible, and the cervix as dilated as possible before you get to the hospital. But...maybe get there before I did with #2. They thought I was there too early, since labor started less than an hour before. They changed their tunes when I got on the bed and there was the bag of waters already emerging...)
Shinku 05-26-2007, 09:00 PM Churros. Lots and lots of churros. Oh and Dole whips!
Even if they don't work, it'll still be one helluva good time :)
Best wishes and healthy baby vibes headed your way.
limace 05-28-2007, 06:21 PM Any update? Hopefully, baby is here and all went well already. My second was 10 days late...gaaaah-and ahem good old nipple stimulation is what did the trick, I think. With two hour labors both time, I wouldn't risk it in the park, however :)
Malcon10t 05-28-2007, 06:27 PM I'm thinking Yohomama-baby is here. I was 23 days late with MickeyDogMom. In August. The rest were induced as we weren't ging to risk going so far past again. (She weighed 9 lbs 1 oz.)
Good luck to Yoho mama and baby!
yohomama212 05-31-2007, 02:05 PM Thanks all! My Yohomama-baby came on Monday afternoon. All is well, we're home now. Apparently, 17 hours of walking in the parks over the span of one week will not, in and of itself, induce labor. But it was fun trying! At least I got to see Pirate's Lair! (But for those of you who might need to know for future refrence... stay off the Storybook Land Canal Boats!)
