Any discounts for this weekend?. Any tips for touring with thrill seeking 9 year olds?

Hi,

You could look on eBay they had some discounted tickets for Knott's. I don't know any tips really except that we did not like it in Jan when we went. When the girls were younger they use to love Knotts. In Jan we went back and I did not like it. It seemed dirty and run down. There was very little going on but it was Jan, although it was the weekend and not raining. The only thing we really enjoyed was the water rapid ride, which I remember we always enjoyed that one, boy it that a long walk when there is no one in line for the ride. Other than that I don't know what to say, Six Flag is a further drive but you may want to consider that instead. I noticed no one wrote so I am just trying to fill you in a little. My girls are now 16 and 18 and they did not like Knotts this year. Maybe cause to us the roller coasters at Silverwood are so much bigger and better, oh but the wooden roller coaster was closed the day we went, maybe that is the reason. Oh, I don't know, hope if you go you have fun.

Thank you for your response. I have mixed feelings about going and we may pass.

$27.95 for adults and $16.95 for kids if you bought a Scout-O-Rama Book from a Cub Scout. There are coupons in there.

Depending on their height, you may want to consider Six Flags instead. Check their website for height restrictions on their coasters. The best coasters at SF are not for short kids, so it would not be worth the trip there if they are too short. I believe there are discounts at Ralph's. Parking is 15, and the food has improved quite a bit over the last year. Johnny Rockets may or may not be open there by the weekend.

Currently, the Log Ride is down at Knott's, and Sierra Sidewinder has yet to open, not sure if Perilous Plunge is still down.

If you do go to Knott's, hit Ghostrider 1st, an then beeline back to the park and hit Xcellerator. Easily the two longest lines for coasters are those two rides.

Both parks are worth visiting. Knott's has a few different flat rides that SFMM doesn't have and the best wood coaster in our area, and SFMM has the best selection of steel roller coasters. I think at 9 years old they would be able to enjoy some of the flats at SFMM's Bugs Bunny World.

Sidewinder is now open! The Log Ride and Perilous Plunge is closed through the end of June.

We just went to Knotts for the first time ever. What a waste of time and money! Our 8 year old was bored silly. We thought it appeared run down and rather dirty. We didn't stay very long. Also, the employees were rude and not very attentive.

We went last summer and left after 2 hours. Very dirty and almost "carnival-ish" now. Not how I remembered it as a child. And it does not even come close to any Disney theme park. I feel spoiled now going to Disneyland. Overall it was a waste of $$$$, but hey we tried!!

I'll chime in as somebody who really loves Knotts. It isn't Disneyland, but there's something charming about the hokey, fair-type atmosphere. There's lots of fun rides, And Mrs. Knotts Chicken Dinner is famous for a reason-- It's fabulous!

If you've never been, I suggest trying it at least once. Just don't go into it expecting it to be anything like Disneyland, because it isn't.

The husband and I have APs, but I haven't been there in a while, so we stopped in a couple weeks ago. He went on Sidewinder to try it out, and he said it was ok, but because of the weight distribution in his car, he didn't spin at all. He said it wasn't that bad overall, so I might try it on our next visit if I feel up to it. While he went on that, I went on Jaguar, which I like and which he goes on only to keep me company, so he was happy not to have to go. We also went on Silver Bullet, but then I was completely done, which was ok anyway, because after an hour there, there wasn't anything else we really wanted to do.

We've had passes for a couple years now, and for me, the original magnet was Ghostrider, but since it's just too painful to ride that anymore, I don't plan to renew when my pass expires in October. He may renew - don't know yet. I figure I'm good buying a day pass every couple years or so.

Went to Knott's yesterday and had the same "carnival-ish", creepy feeling. I'm really sad to see such a well intentioned park turn into another 'Magic Mountain'. Our boys were so disapointed when we discovered Ghostrider, Log Ride, and Perilous Plunge were down. I wonder if Knott's will be around in 10 years???

It's kind of ridiculous to have two of their best water rides, Log Flume and Perilous Plunge, down during the hottest part of the year....
Cedar Fair is ruining a quaint theme park by trying to make it into Magic Mountain lite with all the rollercoasters.

They're still down? We were there months ago and they obviously hadn;'t been functioning for quite a while.

Hmm? I wonder if this is a 'saftey'/'legal' issue? Very odd indeed! Such a waste of a good park. I for one, will only visit for the chicken dinners from now on.

Both Perilious Plunge and the Log Ride were closed due to safety reasons.

The Perilious Plunge has been testing this week, so it should open shortly, maybe even be open today.

The Log Ride, last I heard, is on schedule for a October reopening for Haunt. Its roof fell in, and DOSH is requiring a lot of changes to get it reopened.

Perilous Plunge has reopened, and now has a simple over the shoulder restraint with a safety strap that goes between your legs, a lot better setup than the prior setup, which was a lap/thigh bar and then a 4 point harness.

You can see photos at the link below.

As always thank you Dark Beer :).

Kinda horrifying that part of the roof on the log ride fell in. It is an oldie but goodie, we rode it the day it opened and I was telling my daughter that my grandmother swears I was the 1000th rider to into a log, she was really excited about riding the "super ancient log ride". Maybe next time.......
