it is that time - where I get to trade up my phone. just wondered how people like their phones? I am looking at a chocolate (vanilla actually) or a razor ... there was another one and I can't remember... but you know how sometimes you think you'll love it but then you start using it every day and hate it? I want to avoid that....

My wife loves her (RED) Moto RAZR (http://www.joinred.com/products4.asp) and I am pretty happy with my Palm Treo 650, though I might look at upgrading to the just-announced 755p.

I have a RAZR (just silver) and I don't really like it. I feel like I can never hear anyone. My ex-bf had the same problem with his. When he drunkenly dropped it in the toilet, he got a different phone.

I recently upgraded to a white Motorola Krzr. I like it and it's really pretty, too. It fits very nicely in the little cell phone pocket inside my purse.

Amazon has a good picture of it (the most true to real color picture that I've found on the web). I'd post a picture of it, but I don't know how. :crying:

Andrew, is your Treo also a MP3 player?

I have a pink razr and I love it. I've heard people complain they're too fragile but I've dropped mine several times, I mean knock the battery out drop and it's fine.

tod uses a Chocolate and is equally happy with it. Hold it in your hand and see how it feels...that's what I tell the Little tods when it's time for an upgrade anyway...

Yes, it can play MP3s. Mine is a little older, but the newer models do it very well.

Thanks, I was looking at one on line. My palm is no longer working. I really liked it. I need a new cell phone anyway. I would like to have an Ipod so it just seems to make sense to get one of these.

Well for those of you who might still consider a RAZR, maybe you might want to wait for the next-gen version:

You can see how it will look like on the main Moto web page (Flash-embedded)...

One thing to be aware of is that the Treo uses a non-standard headphone jack. That means that you either need to use headphones designed for the Treo (it does come with a set) or you need to use a converter plug. The converter plugs are inexpensive, but they do stick out a bit and it is also something you have to carry with you.

Other than that, the recent versions do work well as MP3 players. Out of the box, it will play standard MP3s. For about $20, you can upgrade the included "Pocket Tunes" software to a version that will also play OGG Vorbis, WMA (including those using Microsoft's "Plays-for-Sure" DRM, such as those from Napster, Yahoo, etc.) and unprotected AAC files.
