Disneyland, Disneyland, Disneyland...
5 days at the Disneyland hotel in a standard room who can ask for more? Ill tell ya...getting upgraded at the Disneyland hotel to a queen/king suite on the 6th floor overlooking the Neverland pool and the wedding pavillion.
So heres my trip report: Cast Myself/Craig (Age 21, senior in college), my girlfriend/Jen (Age 22, senior in college).
Thursday April 26th: I turned in my last final in Analytical Biochemistry which took a whole week to do. As a take home final, most science take homes are really tough, this was no exception. After turning it in, I walked over to the lab I work in,did an experiment that needed to get done and then left to go home. To my suprise my girlfriend cleaned the entire condo, did all the laundry, packed and i had to do was shower and get dressed. We drove to my parents house in Ft. Lauderdale (about an hour and a half away) and I cooked dinner for my family.
April 27th: In the morning my father dropped Jen and I off at Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International at 5:45am for a 7:35am flight. We checked in and got some breakfast and boarded our plane at 7:50am (slight delay). It was a 737 Boeing flown by Delta and was a half empty flight . So jen and I had an entire row to ourselves and made the flight very comfortable. After 20 minutes into the flight the attendant was passing our drinks and I got 2 dirty martinis, one vodka, one gin. $10 bucks is not bad for 2 drinks where I come from. I never ever ever drink so you could tell that I started my vacation. The flight was easy, no turbulance, the mountains in California are awesome and the landscape of the desert is completely not what i expected. For reference I expected sand dunes lol. We landed at 10:30am california time so we had the full day in california. My friend Lori picked us up at LAX, she lives on Flower Street in downtown LA so it was an easy drive, she was generous and drove us to the DLH. She took the 91 so we ended up taking the backroads into disneyland. It took us approximately 30-40 minutes to get from LAX to DL. Jen and I were extremely excited, we didnt really have the cash to book a nicer room but after schmoozing the front desk cast member she upgraded us into a suite as said prior. Our view was wonderful and our room was amazing. It was ready at 11:30 when we got there which was extremely convienient. After putting our luggage in our room, Lori, Jen and I went to DTD and looked at all the stores until about 5pm and then went to USC with Lori to see one of my best friends Eric (Lori's fiance). They have a loft on Flower street in downtown LA which was amazing. They have subsidized housing so they pay pennies to what the original price of the loft is. I am planning on either going to USC or UWash in the next year for graduate school so this was a great experience to see what living might be like. We went to the campus to go to an awards ceremony on campus so I got to see the dental school schmooze with deans at the graduate school and see what USC is like. Its an amazing school. I could see myself there.
After the awards ceremony Eric drove Jen and I back to our hotel and I gave him 40 bucks for gas and whatnot and thanked him for the great night we were exhausted it was 12:00am California time and 3:00am florida time. So we headed up to our room and passed out.
April 28th: 6:00am came around and Jen and I were wide awake staring at eachother. I was used to being in class by 8:00am everyday (florida time). We didnt have breakfast ressies until 10:00am so Jen and I were starving when we woke up. Walked to the front gates of DL and i took a minute to just take everything in at the esplanade. Of course we took pics at the floral mickey and the train going by. We walked down mainstreet and i seriously read every sign, text, and whatever was on any window. I loved sleeping beauties castle and thought it was very unique. Definately not as small as everyone makes it out to be. I would of built the matterhorn in a different location as to not dwarf the castle but on the otherhand most mountains are bigger than castles so the matterhorn looks even bigger in that respect! We seriously took 20 steps to our right and were in tommarowland, i was used to walking across a huge bridge. There was 6 managers standing at the edge of mainstreet and tommarowland and i walked over and talked to all of them, thanked them and whatnot. We walked over to spacemountain and it was a 10 minute wait so we enjoyed the queue which i couldnt belive was partly outside. The queue is very cool but I still think I would prefer ours at WDW even though it was done EXTREMELY well. The ship above the loading area was real awesome. Space mountains upgrade is definately better than ours in WDW. Just the new effects and stars is amazing. I missed the giant cookies floating over our heads but thats okay. The ride was smooth and the music was amazing.
We walked to Indiana Jones and waited 10 minutes to get on that as well. I dunno which I prefer Dinosaur or Indiana. I think I like Dinosaur better but Indiana has a real cool storyline and great effects.
We walked over to the Carnation Cafe for our breakfast ressies and I enjoyed the Cinnaman bun french toast thing with creme cheese icing. It was very good, oscar wasnt there but hey its okay it was his day off. Jen had the Oscars choice breakfast. Afterwards we started riding all the rides in fantasyland. Mr. Toads was first, i had to do it. I was very impressed, what a great ride! I wish we still had it in WDW.
After riding everything in fantasyland we walked over to New Orleans square which I think blows Liberty square out of the water (as does frontierland vs. WDW frontierland) and got our 3:30pm ressies for blue bayou. It was amazing I of course had the monte cristo while Jen had the beef short ribs. Both very good meals. We got a water side view which was more than perfect. Afterwards we went on PoTC which of course blows WDW PoTC out of the water as well. I was very impressed.
Ill continue this trip report later!
