We are planning to spend 2 nights in San Diego and visit Sea World. There are so many hotels that it is really hard to figure out where to stay.

We want to be reasonably close to Sea World.

We would like a nice pool for the kids to enjoy.

A free breakfast, at least continental would be great, but not a deal breaker! Our party has 6 young children and we will probably eat in the room for all meals anyway!

Anyone have a place they like to stay at? Thanks!

We just stayed at the Hampton Inn Seaworld/Airport. The area that the hotel is in is a little weird but once you enter their property you would never know it. The rooms were really nice and big. You got a breakfast every morning and it had a nice pool. The drive to Seaworld is only about 5 minutes or so.

Thanks, Bassett1976. Could you elaborate on wierd? Will I feel the need to lock my car door when driving around?:)

I typically lock my car doors while driving anyways... It does have some adult entertainment venues a few streets away. The grounds of the hotel are really nice and once we got to the hotel we never felt like the people or the location was bad. My wife is very sensitive to places we stay at and she never felt uncomfortable during the visit. The hotel has indoor corridors and the only open door is by the front desk, the rest of the doors to the parking lot are accessible by your room key.

We have also stayed at other places on our SD trips. We stayed at the Red Lion Hanelei Hotel in Hotel Circle and is just about 10 minutes from SeaWorld. We also liked that hotel but they did not offer food.

Hotel Circle is a good choice. I like the Marriott Residence Inn, but others are nice too. Motel 6 is nasty. Just know that you get what you pay for. If you want to go fancy, go for downtown four star on priceline. We always get the waterfront Marriott there which is really fancy. The Omni is nice too. In San Diego, everything is 15 minutes away, so location isn't as important as the facility.

We stayed at the Residence Inn last November in Carlsbad. It was a nice, spacious room big enough for us 2 adults and 4 kids. It had a great complimentary breakfast. We didn't swim in the pool but it looked nice.

I found an unbelievable deal with AAA to stay at the Residence Inn on Hotel Circle (5 minutes from SeaWorld) during our annual november trek down south. I made these reservations 1 month ago and got it for $29/night ($19 for the room and $10 for parking.) Couldn't let that pass. Just checked AAA recently and prices have gone up to $152/night.

29.00???? Wow! Gloria-is November a slow month-that is an amazing price.

July is such a busy month, but that's when we need to go.

Hampton Inn is already booked for July.

Anyone else have suggestions? I am just stumped!

We prefer to stay downtown in San Diego. The area around Sea World always seems kind of run-down and not pedestrain friendly either. The waterfront area is so nice to walk with kids. Mine love to watch the ships and all the activity.

I snagged the Omni for 99/night for the upcoming Mother's Day weekend on Travelzoo. We also like the Marriot and the Hyatt and have always been able to find some kind of deal somewhere.

I am a big fan of Residence inn's also. With 3 boys I love the free breakfast. San Diego can be expensive in the summer. 2 years ago we stayed at the Comfort Suites http://www.comfortsuitesmv.com/ and really liked it, and it was reasonably priced. The breakfast isn't as great as residence inn, but it was definitely enough. It was pretty close to everything in fact it is just off the freeway (yet far enough off to not hear any traffic). I think it was recently remodeled when we stayed so it was pretty clean. We swam at the pool one day and it was fine.

I am also a big fan of Residence Inn. Here are my two tips for you, try Get Away Today on the internet, they have some great deals at times. My second tip, if you no two months in advance go to Marriot Residence Inn on line and click the government discount. I truly do work for the government but after 5 years of only staying at Residence Inn's I came to realize they give great discounts for federal, state, local or municiple government and they have never once asked me to prove I work for the gov. Like I say I do but why should others not use the glich in their system. I have at times in Seattle and Oregon, reserved a penthouse or a two bedroom and only paid $79 a night. This includes a full kitchen with all your utilities and a full breakfast. Also, six can easily sleep and not be crowded. Plus with a penthouse or two bedrooms you get the much needed extra bathroom, so you can seperate the girls and boys in the morning when you are trying to rush out the door, or at night when they all want to use the bathroom right when you walk in. I hope this helps you, and play around with dates if you can to get the best rate under gov.

We are going next month, June. I thought about the Hyatt Islandia but when I called the lady made it very clear that it is being renovated; the pool is closed and there is a lot of noise during the day. Just letting you know in case you thought about this one since its very, very close to SeaWorld. The usual hotel search engines don't warn you and the price is not discounted despite the construction.

Good, it was in serious need of updating. We stayed there once, a couple of year ago. and it was looking pretty rundown, plus you have to drive to get anywhere.
