So I just got XM radio and had it installed today. I'm having some issues with a hissing that comes through. My wife can barely hear it but its in that range that it can give me a headache.
I'm wondering how I can get it to stop. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Wish I could help. My wife and I both have XM in our cars--hers is the Roadie2, mine is a factory job--and the only hissing we get is from signal fade. Check with your installer?

I agree with Andrew that you should ask your installer about the problem (it should be under warranty), but in the short term there are a couple possibilities that depend on how the XM radio is connected to your original stereo. Is it using an FM transmitter? If so, then the obvious thing to try would be to see if the noise goes away by setting it to use a different FM station. If it is an external receiver that is connected to an AUX jack on the stereo, then another thing to check would be to see if the cable that they used is sufficiently shielded. A high pitch whistle could easily be caused by electrical interference. If the cable between the XM and the stereo is easily accessible, you might try picking up a shielded cable (you can get one at Radio Shack) and see if that fixes the problem.
If your car stereo was XM ready and the receiver was simply added in behind the dashboard, then the problem is still pretty likely to be electrical interference, but it is is unlikely you will be able to do anything about it without some help from the installer.

Thanks Andrew and JeffG,
I finally was able to find (on the internet) something that might work. I went to Radio Shack and got a ground loop isolator that worked wonderfully! No more noise!
