I know that most of you have been on the fitness train longer than I have. In the year or so since I started running I've definitely lost the baby weight and toned up. I do weight myself to make sure that I'm staying in line, but I've noticed that the day after my "rest" days I'm *always* up 3-4 lbs. That seems like an awful lot to just be water weight, but it's very consistent...I'm the same weight all week and then do my long run on Sunday, rest Mon and Tues morning I'm up several pounds. My clothes still fit the same way, I just wasn't sure if this was typical.

Hmmm...I'm assuming that if you stay the same all week and then gain a few pounds after a rest day that those 3-4 pounds come off again at some point during the week - right? Do you go back to normal after you start running again?
Personally I weigh myself everyday and it never seems to make any sense to me! On a day after I binge I'm sometimes down a pound, and on a day after I didn't have time to eat all day I'm up a pound. I would say that as long as your "average" weight is staying the same (or slowly going down if that's your goal) don't worry about it. If those 3-4 pounds are accumulating every week then something is wrong...but that doesn't seem to be what is happening.
Good luck with your running!

The standard wisdom is to weigh on the same scale, same time, same day of the week.
ITA w Trekkie Dad on this one. Playing the "scale dance" can do a major number on my head. So-same scale, same time, same day of the week for me.

I weigh myself every morning, first thing in the morning. I find the later I wake up, the more I weigh. And, if I weigh myself at night, it can make a difference of 2-4 lbs higher.
