2007 FILM LINE-UP

The Festival Opens With Beautiful Ohio and Closes With Son of Rambow


Newport Beach, CA March 23, 2007 – Continuing its commitment to the support of independent filmmakers from around the world, the 8th Annual Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) (www.NewportBeachFilmFest.com (http://www.newportbeachfilmfest.com/)) today announced the 2007 program and event schedule to take place from April 19-29 in Newport Beach, California. The 2007 NBFF program offers a rich and diverse selection of feature length, short, documentary and animated films that will compete for both Jury and Audience Awards.

Coming off the heels of its 2005 U.S. Premiere of the Academy AwardŽ-winning film Crash and the 2006 West Coast premiere of the Academy AwardŽ nominated film The Illusionist, 2007 promises to be a banner year for the Festival. Opening with the feature film directorial debut from Chad Lowe, Beautiful Ohio starring William Hurt & Rita Wilson, follows a disfunctional family coming of age in the 1970’s. Closing the Festival is the West Coast premiere of Son of Rambow, a film about friendship, creativity and the wonders of childhood set in the early 1980’s.

Beautiful Ohio will premiere on April 19<SUP>th</SUP> at Edwards Big Newport (300 Newport Center Drive) in Fashion Island at 7:30pm. Immediately following the screening, the Festival will host its Opening Night Gala at the Fashion Island Courtyard (401 Newport Center Drive) sponsored by Jaguar & Land Rover and Level Vodka. The gala will feature cuisine from more than a dozen of Newport Beach’s finest restaurants. Tickets for the Opening Night screening and gala are $125.

Son of Rambow will makes its West Coast premiere on April 26 at the Regency Lido Theater (3459 Via Lido Drive) at 7:30 PM. Immediately following the screening, the Festival will host its Closing Night Gala at Via Lido Plaza adjacent to the theater sponsored by Cox Communications, complete with hosted bar and culinary delights. Tickets for the Closing Night screening and gala are $45.

Other NBFF highlights include the 100<SUP>th</SUP> birthday celebration of John Wayne presented by Farmers & Merchants Bank, with retrospective screenings, a reception featuring the inaugural Wayne Award and much more. Other Festival events include live music performances, in-depth seminar series and a cinematographer’s symposium, a Family Film Series, an Action Sports Film Series and Asian, Latino, French, Swedish, and Irish Spotlight events.

The Festival is sponsored in part by Absolut Vodka, Cox Communications, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Fashion Island and the City of Newport Beach.
