1. EXHIBIT NEWS
WILD ABOUT OTTERS
Visitors are Wild About Otters, especially once they see our newest special
exhibition. You'll be charmed by our lively freshwater otters and fascinated by
other live exhibits featuring a rainbow of tropical freshwater fishes as well as
exotic turtles, frogs and snakes. Online, read our Aquarist Journals for inside
stories and animal updates. Start your journey at:
http://www.wildaboutotters.com
WHITE SHARK PHONES HOME
The electronic tag on our second white shark reported in on Sunday (April 15) when
it popped free off the southern tip of Baja California--90 days and more than 1,100
miles south of the shark's release point in Monterey Bay. We'll get details of where
the young male shark traveled, including the water temperatures and depths he favored,
over the next few weeks as we and our research colleagues analyze data being transmitted
via satellite. You can find more here:
http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/whiteshark/
BLACKFOOTED PENGUINS
"Mommy, is that penguin a boy or a girl?" Now you'll be able to tell, thanks to
new wing bands on the 18 birds in our blackfooted penguin colony in Splash Zone.
Female penguins have black tags with their names in white; for males, it's the
reverse (white tags, black text).
Visit "What's New?" on our web site to learn more about new arrivals
in our exhibits.
