TDL will have a new tomorrowland like the one at WDW and Disneyland.
Astro Orbitor replaces Star Jets
Meet The World is Unknown
Visionarium is repklaced by Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
Everything else is re-themed

That's too bad. Tokyo's Tomorrowland is the last to have a clean, white "futuristic" look. The bronze, metallic "Jules Verne" look is so unattractive in comparison. At least Epcot's Future World is still around.

I was never a fan of the all white sterile feel of tommorowland... I don't know why. But also if they poorly paint it with the earth tones and so forth it isn't that attractive either. :)

One would have hoped the OLC would know better than to just parrot the dumb changes made by Disney over here - they should send some people over here to see how the "old is new" look over here has really done very little to enhance the TL experience in both MK and DL.
Better to concentrate on some spiffy new attractions than waste time and money on new paint and ornaments that decorate abandoned attractions ...........

You know I can totally understand anyone's disdain for Disneyland's "New Tomorrowland" and even Paris's Discoveryland, which has aged poorly.
But I, for one, see a lot of heart in Walt Disney World's approach at Tomorrowland. It is big and bold and fun and completely without the pretense that is so pungent in the "bronze" Tomorrowlands. You can't eat the plants, sure, but why the heck would you wanna anyway?
Had WDW spent themoney to build these attractions out of materials that would have held up I think they would have had a hit. Were they to have oped a real homerun new attraction (which they thought they had in alen Encounter--points for good intentions) I think we would all be singing a different tune.
I say, use Florida's TL as inspiration. Why not?
And BTW, where did you hear about this TL redo?

Couldn't agree more.
I do like the Jules Verne theme.
I just read that while theming is great at TDR, the rides are not so fab afterall. perhaps expectations won't be very high anyway

It was pretty memory-inspiring to go to TDL Tomorrowland last week and see the 70's-style decor--I had forgotten what it looked like! Given that the Port Discovery area in TDS looks a lot like WDW's New Tomorrowland, I think they should keep TDL Tomorrowland with its current look. I don't think this will happen, though, as Meet the World is already closed, Visionarium was in its last couple of days of operation, and in general this part of the park had the most peeling paint, etc. I think they have already decided it's going down for a major rehab so they've actually neglected some maintenance there...

Iceman: How about a trip report?
Would like to hear your impressions of TDS and its attractions!

Don't worry, some type of trip report is on the way. I just haven't decided how to write it yet. ;)

I love the Tomorrowland in the MK at WDW. I think they did a great job. I hope Tokyo gets the WDW version.

I thought that Tokyo's Tomorrowland was supposed to be rethemed as "Sci-Fi City" much like the WDW version that harkens back to old science fiction views of the future.
