Long Beach is dangerous in some areas down near Cherry Avenue etc.. North Long Beach.
You can also get lost, if you are not familiar. I always try to be out of there by dark, or head toward the Seal Beach side where it's safer.
If you must stay overnight in Long Beach--these three are the only hotels I'd, personally, consider.
1. Hyatt Regency Long Beach
2. Coast Hotel (which is right next to the Queen Mary)
3. Queen Mary Hotel.
Thanks for the tip. I have been really aware of being caught in an unsafe neighborhood. My husband and stumble into a really scary hotel one late night passing through San Fran when our oldest was 3 (now 12). I will never again blindly choose a hotel. As I mentioned earlier, I was very fortunate to get the HRLB for $110/Priceline. I guess my post title now should read a couple of nights in "Newport Beach".:rolleyes:
