12-Day Passes?

We are planning to stay in WDW for 12 days :eek: (Yep...12...but we're clear across country, and don't come often enough, so have to make the magic last!)...but on Disney's website, the highest number of days for passes is 10 days. I looked at AP's and they were much more expensive. What do people do that want to stay 11+ days?

well, i did the math, and for us to get APs IF we were coming next year (and doing 11 days both trips - dh & I going 11, our boys going 10 - we have a date day) - we would only save $190 or so. But we probably aren't going to be able to next year (well maybe if they offer the free dining again ;) , so we're just gonna buy one day tickets for that last day.

You might want to add the Water Parks Fun and More option. This will add six entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, PI, TL, WWS). A day that you only go to minor parks does not use up any of your base days.

Remember, you have 14 days from first use to use all of your entries, they do not have to be consecutive. So if you take a couples of days to visit the water parks and Disney Quest and Pleasure Island you will still have ten days for the major theme parks.

AP holders also get some discounts, which may make it worthwhile, even for one trip. Last August, I decided to upgrade my pass to an AP, and we decided to go back down in November. I called reservations and asked about AP rate availability at any moderate resort, for Thanksgiving week. I was able to get a moderate at a great discount. If you can be somewhat flexible about the hotel, buying an AP (you have to show it when you check in, and don't have to prove you have one when you make the reservation), could be worthwhile, even for one trip.

I went for 14 days in August and we bought the 10 day passes and the Water Park Fun and More Option. I only used 1 or 2 options.

Honestly to go to the parks every single day is very exhausting. If you do not want to pay for the Water Park Fun and More Option just spend 2 days at the pool, go to DTD to shop (my favorite!), and head over to the Boardwalk one night. Mini-golf is an option as well. There are a lot of different things that can be done at Disney that do not require you to enter parks.

I thought that you could get tickets for the entire length of your stay. Seems like a simple suggestion, but have you tried calling at CM to get the scoop? I'm going for 10 days this time around, but in a few years I was toying with a full two-week stay -- can I never get enough of this mouse?! Let us know what you end up doing, okay?

You USED to be able to get length of stay passes - but when they introduced the Magic Your Way tickets, those went away.

Loved the Ultimate Park Hopper Length of Stay tickets.... They used to have some great package deals that included them.

Last summer we had a short trip to Disney planned. We decided we would NOT purchase AP's even though normally we get them each year. We knew we were going to Disneyland Paris for XMAS and didn't think a trip to Orlando would happen this year. So we purchased park hoppers for our stay in Orlando last summer.

Then we planned a quick 4 day trip for two in February for Valentine's day, just my husband and I. Another trip for 9 days in July and I just decided to meet a friend in 2 weeks for 2 days. We got the AP's in February because we knew we would be going down at least once.

You never know if you can swing a quick trip or have a business trip that might take you to Orlando. I say go for the AP's! Had we gone for the AP's last July we would have gone on all 3 trips we have planned for FREE...silly us.

Personally, if I were spending 12 days at WDW, I'd be taking not one, but two (maybe 3 or more) day-trips to Kennedy Space Center, and most likely going to Adventurers or the Warehouse those evenings, so 10 days of park admission would work out just fine for me.

With my current plans for this November, I'd be deliberately shorting myself for the day I intend to spend at KSC, just to cut costs. With the MYW system, it just doesn't make any sense to buy a day's admission for a day spent elsewhere, particularly since I'd have to pay extra for PI, more than I'd pay for just one evening's admission.

Consider the following scenario (based on my 2002 trip): I'm spending 8 nights at WDW, including 2 day-trips to KSC. This adds up to 7 full days and 2 partial days.

The general assumptions are that I'd want the park-hopper option, and want to spend my arrival evening and departure morning in theme parks, and that I'd spend the evenings of my KSC days in the comedy clubs of PI, but that I have no interest in the water parks or DQ.

With the MYW system, if I wanted to do everything on my MYW, I'd have to pay for 9 days, with park-hopping, and WP&more. But if I decided to pay cash for my 2 visits to PI, I would instead only have to pay for a 7-day MYW with park-hopping (but no WP&more). That would knock slightly more off the price of my MYW ticket than I'd spend on my 2 visits to PI.

If they brought them back I would be extremely happy. They could still do MYW and then for stays of 10 days or longer do a Length of Stay Ticket. I think it makes sense! People would stay longer!

We will be taking a day trip or two to Kennedy Space Center, as written by hbquikcomjamesl, but I really wanted the flexibility to come and go as we please...to have a day at KSC or a waterpark and still be able to hit one of the parks in the early evening. Or to spend half a day by the pool, and then head to a park. I don't want to feel like we are shut out of the parks for a few days....so is my only option AP's?

Yep.

If you really want to be able to visit the major parks on every day, I think you'll have to buy a 10 day and a 2 day. That's going to be more expensive than a 12 day would have been, so you really have to decide if having those two extra days is worth it to you. (Or get APs)
