View Full Version : Marking Threads to Which I've Posted
Iceman 06-12-2002, 08:38 PM Dear Administrators and Moderators-
I'm on a couple of other web boards that use this same software and they show a little dot in the envelope icon to remind users of which threads they've posted to. Is this a controllable feature that you have disabled for some reason? Either way, I'd like to request that you activate that feature--I find it quite convenient and I suspect other users would too! Thanks...
It is a feature, but we have chosen not to enable it. The reason being, it is very resource intensive, and puts a load on the database and server that we don't want to incur. Given how large MousePad had grown over the past year, I prefer to focus resources on the core elements - the discussions and threads.
If the software company can find a way to cut down on the load this feature causes, I'll definately look at implementing it.
Tony
Iceman 06-12-2002, 09:56 PM Sounds reasonable to me--thanks for the response!
By the way, thanks also for getting rid of the pop-up ads a month or two ago. THOSE are what really seemed to slow the site down for me!

Darn, are those gone again? I better go fix that. :D
Honestly folks, we don't control the pop-ups. They come and go on a cycle based on whatever inventory our ad companies are currently selling. We hate them as much as you do, but they do have a nasty benefit of paying some of the bills.

Alex S. 06-13-2002, 04:28 PM I will point out that I also do not like Monty Python. Fortunately, I've not seen the ads.

What is that term........hello, AVP?
Something do do with growing up in a cave in a remote part of the world or a simiilar concept?
Alex, if they haven't told you, I'm one of those too.;)
Nothing quite as pathetic as rolling around holding in my stomach watching "What's that on top of the telly-vision set?" "Looks like a penguin." "What's it doin' there?" "Standin" ...
and looking over and noticing that your husband is sitting there with a rather bored look on his face.
I'm telling ya. You'd think I would resort to...
THE COMFY CHAIR!!!
OK OK, I'll stop already.
THE LARCH!

CCRPs - Common Cultural Refence Points. Those things you share with others in your peer group.
But Lisa, YOU and Alex do have CCRPs. I'm not sure exactly who you and Alex share them with, but you have them.

Alex S. 06-13-2002, 08:14 PM I know all about Monty Python. I get many of the references made by weak-minded people who find they have no choice but to repeat the supposed humor of others rather than create their own.
Monty Python is a CCRP I share with you, I just recognize their lameness.
Besides, I thought I beat that CCRP thing into a ground at a certain party recently.
adriennek 06-13-2002, 08:49 PM Technically, Alex, you didn't win the game. Something about leaving before it was over. So, no, you're still CCRP-deficient in the books.
