APRIL NEWS
The Boardwalk is preparing for a huge Centennial celebration this summer. We
have new "100 Year" flags waving on top of the casino, new banners along Beach
Street, a beautiful new "Aloha" mural, and the bandstand is going up! Behind the
scenes we’re busy juggling acrobats, high divers, skydivers, band managers, book
signings, a black tie event, a museum exhibit, a fireworks show, and lots of
other fun stuff!
Speaking of the Bandstand, our Free Friday Night Band line-up will be announced
in the next few weeks. Thanks for your patience!
It's Spring Break at the Boardwalk and the weather has definitely been
cooperating! Rides are now open daily, plus we have beach concerts, celebrity “meet
and greets”, crazy contests, Cartoon Network characters, and all kinds of fun
planned for “Comcast Spring Break at the Boardwalk,” April 11 through 13.
Star Wars Fan? Take a photo by our official R2-D2 mailbox! The cute "uspsjedimaster"
mailbox is a promotion by the US Post Office for a new series of Star Wars
stamps. R2-D2 works just like a real mailbox and is located outside Guest
Services. The mailbox will return to a galaxy far far away sometime soon… so see
it while you can!
On your next visit, be sure to check out the newest addition to the carousel
building - a 1918 Wurlitzer 165 Band Organ from the former Playland-At-The-Beach
in San Francisco. You can also see and hear the organ online, thanks to the
Santa Cruz Sentinel.
It’s an amazing antique, and the only Wurlitzer 165 operating publicly in
California.
