The four Asian small-clawed otters used to live in Singapore, where they stalked and killed a 15-foot python that slithered into their home by mistake. Now they reside in California, where they like to watch TV.
That's only the beginning of their lifestyle change. For the next few years, they will be ogled and photographed. Visitors will be able to hear their yelps and squeaks at the touch of a button and even smell their fecal matter if they care to.
Satu, Dua, Tiga and Empat -- "one," "two," "three" and "four" in Malay -- are among the stars of "Wild About Otters," a $3.6 million show that opens Saturday at the Monterey Bay Aquarium and is the first special exhibit in its 23-year history that features live mammals and freshwater habitats.
