Ok so we are going to be spending 3 days in Disneyland and California adventure in August and My wife will be 4 months pregnant.

Now I have read posts before but im looking for a bit more input. What rides did you avoid, which rides were ok. My wife seems to think we shouldnt bother going because she doesnt even think pirates will be ok, but i thought even things like splash would be ok. What do you guys think about rides that are ok and are a no no while pregnant.

Isn't August 5 months away? How can she be 4 months pregnant?

Personally, I will be going to Disneyland Paris in May and I will be 20 weeks pregnant. I will avoid all the rollercoasters, and I think there are restrictions for pregnant women on all of them, but I would be happy to go on Pirates.

I guess it's up to her whether she thinks it would just be too frustrating to miss all the fast rides! Is it just the two of you going? Are you going to be driving her mad making her wait while you go on everything, or would you be happy to miss the rides too?

I guess it will be 5 months or so. No i wont be making her wait, it will just be the two of us so I wont go on any rides without her. Im hoping to hit as many of the big rides as we can, im sure rollercoasters and indy is out. hoping splash is ok. We will probably try to do some of the things we havnt done in a while and take our time through the parks.

Congrats! I thought you had a fancy time machine or something!:D
Any way, I would do Pirates, but personally, I'd skip Splash. Its up to how confident you are I guess(health wise). There is a LOT you can do without the big rides, I would still go, and play it by ear on some rides.

My wife and I went last August when she was 7 months pregnant and she just avoided the rides that had specific restrictions for pregnant women (of which I think Splash Mountain is one)...and we had a great time. She didn't go on Space, Splash, Screamin', Autopia...she did go on Pirates, Soarin', HM. There is plenty to do make the trip worthwhile. You may find something fun that you have never done before.

That's what I like to see - a supportive husband! I think she will still have a great time, and think of all the lovely baby stuff you will be able to buy!

For your wife?! No. That one would be horrid for a pregnant woman! Too much up and down motion.Very jolting for the baby.

Personally, I'd avoid it. You know what they say about an ounce of prevention...

TOT? No.

Basically, avoid rides with a height requirement and Autopia. Roger Rabbit can also be a bit much. Pirates should be fine. Soarin' should be fine unless she suffers from morning sickness (which lasted all day for me.)

We will probably try to do some of the things we havnt done in a while and take our time through the parks. If you know she is pregnant today, she will be closer to 6 months, possibly 7 mos. Most of the big rides are out. The way you should look at the rides is like this... What rides can you take the baby on? Those are the ones that should be ok. You can check DL website and go to specific rides and look for the warning for pregnancy.

Rides that are ok - All of Fantasyland except Matterhorn, Buzz and HISTA in Tomorrowland, Jungle Cruise, POTC, HM, the ships on the ROA, Winnie the Pooh's psychadelic adventure, visit the petting zoo,the trains, the cars on Main Street, all the shows, get my drift?? Take it easy and enjoy the park!

I was always told to not go on anything w/ any drops which would include Splash and Pirates. That is just what I have heard.

Pirates is fine. There's no warning on it and the drops are rather mild.

There are more rides she CAN go on than rides she can't. (The previous posters have pretty much covered what she shouldn't ride - Autopia, the roller coasters and Indiana Jones.) I've been to Disneyland during 3.5 pregnancies and in between when I was trying I avoided the rides with warnings. There's still a LOT to do. Lots.

My two favorite rides are ok - Soarin' over California and Buzz Lightyear. :D

Oh boy! I am 7 months preggo now and have been taking regular trips to the park for the last three months. POTC is fun and just fine (baring any preg complications)! I ride it at least once everytime I'm there! I'm sure I'd be okay on Indy and Star Tours, but for that I have to wait! They won't even let me board in my obviously preggo state. But there's tons to do and fun to be had! I love being pregnant at the parks!

I stopped going on those 2 a few years ago (as I age). I would be concerned going on them preggers. But, as the problem is more my back, who knows. Safety wins out though, not worth the risk.

Mal... I totally agree. I figure the restrictions have to be there for a reason, so I abide. My first post-partum ride list is in the works though, and starts with those two! Well, after Nemo that is, cuz that's probably going to be my first day back in the parks!

My rule of thumb was... If it had a height restriction... I did not ride. On top of that I added Autopia... I don't do toon town or TOT anyway so they were not a factor for me. That is what made me feel the most comfortable. I'm sure her Dr. can be helpful with this question too.

My only .02 to add is make sure she stays hydrated. Lots and lots of water, esp. in August. And make sure she gets lots of opp. to sit and rest. She may be so excited or not want to feel like she is slowing you guys down ( I know I felt that way on my pregnant trips)...

Here is something I exp. on my trips to DLR while pregnant. I hated that I could not ride my beloved coasters. Space had just re-opened after I found out I was pregnant. Look I really wanted a baby and had been trying for over a year. But watching eveyone running through the park, like I used to, ridng roller coasters, not getting tired and all those crazy hormones... well it kinda bummed me out... a little. Remind her she will be able to get back on that coaster (or whatever it is) (via baby swap) soon enough.

You sound like a wonderful husband and soon to be world class dad. I'm sure you guys will have a great time.

Pooh Corner in Critter Country has some especially cute baby clothes. Just hand her the credit card while you go on Splash Mountain. :)

yohomama, your trips sound like mine! I am 6 months preggo and I do the same thing you do. We usually go every week b/c I am so close ( in Cypress). Although I am avoiding the parks for the next 2 weeks (I can't deal w/ the crowds while pregnant!) We should hang out! :) Pirates is always a must!

Oh boy! Can you imagine two preggo pirates fanatics on the ride at once!?! PM me when you have your next trip date planned and I'll see about getting there! I would love to hang out!
