Can I use an Adult Parkhopper to upgrade to a AP for a child? I was told children can use adult tickets for admission but can't find it written anywhere if I can use it for upgrading!
Thanks a lot for the help.

There are no child APs. They are the same as adult APs.

Yes, we have done this successfully in the past. They don't care if it's an adult hopper. You just pay the difference. :)

Wonderful! Thanks a lot.
Sorry if I inaccurately called it a "Child AP" I knew they were the same price but I didn’t know that there wasn’t a difference!
Now my only "worry" is that I am doing the upgrade on 4/22 and the park closes at 4:00 PM that day so I hope the Bank won't be crazy. I don't feel like going to the "Bank" at 6:30 AM though =/
My sister picked the days and booked her hotel without even asking me which days we should go... I could shoot her! lol

UPDATE:
I had written Disneyland Customer Service days and days ago about this and just today they responded. They basically said "no" because the tickets are non-transferable and the ticket being upgraded has to be the one the person used the whole visit...
How would they know she didn't use it though? Children do use adult tickets sometimes!
I'm going to try... I just hope they don't give me a hard time!
(I have been misinformed by Customer Service in the past!)

As long as there isn't a signature on the back of the card, you'll be fine. There is no way they can prove that she didn't use that hopper. Trust me, you shouldn't have any trouble upgrading.

I don't think they know who used the tickets, and so you should have no problem. Some people have been selling their 2fer tickets online using the first day for themselves and the second is used by some total stranger.

(I have been misinformed by Customer Service in the past!)One thing to know... They may ask you the day and time of first use. They do this to try and verify it was your ticket. I know someone who bought the last day of a ticket and they gave them a hard time as they had no clue when the ticket was first used. I know when we upgrade out tickets to APs, they always ask when we first used them, and once if we went to DCA or DL first.

Well last year my friend and I split tickets. She used the first 2 days and I used the last 2 and upgraded to AP's. My son used an adult hopper instead of a childs. THEY GAVE ME A HARD TIME. Why is your son using an adult hopper if he is under 10? I said I paid a little more becasue I was thinking about upgrading to an AP. She said "why didnt you just buy an AP then?" Then she had to ASK someone and make an important CALL. She finally came back and said "ok THIS TIME IT'S OK BUT NEXT TIME DONT DO THAT"
I would say this. If you do do this, go to the person at the bank who looks young and inexperienced and not an older woman who probably knows what you are up to.

I think if questioned, the answer "The parkhoppers were a gift, we didn't purchase them." would work fine.

What I should have said when she asked his age was 10 not 8. Didnt' think it would matter honestly.

I was thinking more along the lines of "My boyfriend was going to come but couldn't due to business so my daughter used his ticket and we gave her ticket to my sister for her son." It's true that he isn't coming, and my sister and her family will be there. So while it's not really the truth it makes sense. Also the day I do it will be the wacky 22nd of April when the park opens at 6:30 AM so I figure maybe if I try doing it at the butt crack of dawn they won't even care. I know when I'm up extra early for things I tend to care less about things that would usually matter! Of course my other fear is that they would be crabby seeing how it is so early!
As for my daughter... mommy always says lies are bad and sometimes if I say white lies to people she jumps in and corrects me. Maybe I'll bribe her with a popsicle to keep her mouth shut lol. Even better is "If I don't do this we won't come back tomorrow."
I also like to play off of my daughter’s charm. Everyone says how cute she is... she is very articulate and talkative, she is one of those kids that people who like kids love to talk to.. But she is just so sweet and natural and gives straight answers. Such a charmer! 3 trips ago it got us an upgrade at the DL hotel... to a suite.
I can't afford to buy an AP outright. The only way I afford Disneyland at all is through budget planning! This trip I am driving (and would be interested in your gas prices since in Las Vegas they are about $2.85) but I already bought Lux Bus tickets to take her again in September. A REALLY REALLY good value I must say. $22 per person round trip. For her and I thats $44 there and back and I can't buy gas for that!
Yeah... I'm a cheapskate but at least I have good taste in theme parks!

Here's a question... If my family has 4 AP's, can we give them to other family members to use when they go to Disneyland later this year, or are the AP's specificially attached to us?

I know the Premium AP's have your picture on the back of them. I wouldn't suggest it because the AP could be revoked. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I wouldn't be willing to try it.

The APs are specifically attached to you. If you tried, adn got caught, you would lose your APs.

Watch the turnstiles next time you go through one. It pulls up your picture on the screen. I've seen some people get funny looks when their pic has them with hair that is really different from their current hairdo. I also remember getting flack once cause they didn't take a new pic for like 6 or 7 years for me. My pic was of my at maybe 10 or 11 years old, and there I was, 17, still using that pass. They told me to get another pic. But I never did.

Currently gas around the resort is about $3.10 a gallon, maybe a bit more if you don't shop arround.
