View Full Version : obnoxious (evil?) Disney marketing

Today I got an ad in the mail from DisneyRewards/Disneyshopping.com
that (in large letters on the cover) stated: "This spring, your children can be the envy of their friends by sporting their favorite Disney characters."
I don't want my daughter to inspire envy, nor do I want her to WANT to inspire envy with her things and clothes.
It's pathetic that some Disney marketers can't sell without appealing to the the worst in people--in this case by teaching materialism to kids.

Show me a major marketer that does not use some sort of "envy" or peer pressure or materialism to advertise their stuff, especially in the realm of kids/pre-teens/teens.

Im not saying its right in any case, and I am not going to condone it because it is Disney, but the point is that Disney is not the only one that does it.
