Well I know there are much better hotels around Anaheim, but with our budget this was the least expensive one that offered the Character breakfast, and allowed early check in.
My question is has anyone stayed here lately?? I have read so many reviews and looked at almost every thread that has had anything to do with this hotel, but it seems no one has much to say about this hotel. I am wondering where it is. What is close by, and about how long of a walk it is to DTD and DL. I was hopen to hop the monorail most days just to save a bit of walking.

Well Thnx in advance
Amanda

We stayed there in 2000. It was ok, but the walk is a bit long. Its kitty-corner from the back corner of DCA/ Soarin'. You would walk up the street toward PP hotel, then cross over to the grand, and cut through there into dtd. I would guess 20-30 minutes depending on how fast you walk.

We've stayed there in the past. It was quite a while ago but I remember only walking back from the park once. We took the hotel tram the rest of the time. It was never very crowded. I know that once you get to PPH it is still about 1/2 a mile if you walk through DTD.

AmandaRemember that in the early mornings (before 10) and after fireworks, they often limit the riders of the monorail to the Resort Hotel guests until the lines thin. The monorail saves you maybe 5 minutes of a 25 minute walk.

The hotel is close to a Denny's and Coco's. We liked Cocos.

It's not a popular choice with MousePlanet readers. There are no reviews in our MousePlanet review database (http://www.mouseplanet.com/cgi/reviews/do/display.cgi?product-sku=dlrbestwesternstovallsinn).

I finally got my Disneyland periphery addresses webpage sufficiently completed to upload this morning, which will help answer this question and many other questions I've been seeing here lately.

If you look at the table for "W. Katella Avenue" you'll see Stovall's Inn near the top of the table, and that should give you an excellent idea of what businesses and landmarks are around there, on both sides of the street.

Personally, since I'm a mid-century fan, I resent Stovall's removing all their cool flickering atoms decor, so the place isn't of much interest to me now, other than their topiary animals, which have been around since the '60s, I believe. Now it's just another bland, characterless hotel in my view, which might explain why nobody has bothered to write a review of it on MousePlanet.

We stayed there Dec. 2005 & the staff was nice but I would not stay there again. The store is only open couple hours so not convenient if you needed something. Free breakfast was good you could get toast, cereal pastries & fruit. I didn't like the room at all. I loved Coco's though I wish there was one over on Harbor. Had to take ART or walk( too long after a long day) and the wait at the end of the night for ART was VERY long.

Check around to see if something a bit closer. We stay at the Tropicana which is still not "fancy" by any means but it is cleaner, closer & better options for stores( also has microwave & fridge in room).

We stayed at Stovall's last Dec. It was ok. Nothing fancy. Pretty clean rooms, basic breakfast, good pool, LONG walk. With 3 kids (DS 5, DD3, DS2) the walk was way too long. (Although if you cut through GCH it shaves about 5 mins off.) If you are looking for a decent cheap place to stay you won't be disappointed.
IF you were to ask us if we would stay there again, I would say no. Mainly b/c of the walk. If you have any other questions you can PM me.

Thx for the help. I bet we will prolly use the ART or hike it back and forth. I can't just pick another hotel since this one was bought and paid for. I just didn't expect a Best Wester to be such a bad motel, since I have stayed in a few and they are usually nice. Well as long as its as good as The Castle Inn and Suites, thats where we stayed last year, we will be happy. Heck we even walked to and from eveyday from there. Plus anyplace close to Disneyland Is better then being at home.

You might call Park Place Inn. They are owned and managed by the same company. Stovall's manages Park Place, and other than location and perhaps furnishings/exteriors, those two are nearly the same hotel.

They might be on the same computer system (not sure) and be able to simply switch you over to Park Place if available. Park Place would be closer to the Main Gate.

Park Place charges about $40 more per night than Stovall's. I doubt they would let you swap for the same price.

Also, usually here in Calgary, when you use a travel company (which I believe LUV U MICKEY did) we get issued vouchers in return for our money. They are through a third party travel company(ex FUN SUN) and once you have paid for the service, you cannot make changes to the account without paying a fee to the company. That is why she cannot switch hotels.
If there is something VERY wrong with the hotel, you could call the Fun sun rep(or other company-don't know who you booked through)they usually include a local # to reach them at, and they can try to solve your problem or find an alternate hotel. I'm sure you'll be O.K.,use the ART and remember you are at DISNEYLAND after all!:D

Yes, we did use a travel agent. They seem to make things much easier and cheeper then if you book on your own or threw the net. We got 5 day park passes for the price of 4 and still at the play at the kids price. We also got a free night at our hotel, and we don't pay for the transport to any of our day trips. Like Universal. I don't really want to switch hotels, I can handle icky a little bit. Plus as long as the sheets are clean and the bathroom is clean I all good. ( I once stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Calgary and they had a ring around thier bath tub. At the price of that hotel it should have been clean.) I am just excited about DL and couldn't afford anoth $40 us a night for a hotel. That would be close to $200 cnd. That would severly cut into my money for while I am there. PLus I already used my one hotel upgrade. My BF had us originally stayin at the Best Western Pavillions. I put my foot down on that one. The Stovalls at least has a laundymat on the premis so I don;t need to pack alot of clothes. Well thx for all your ideas. I do appreciate them. (((HUGS)))

Just not great. Overall we had a good time and no real problems. I wouldn't worry about changing hotels. Just be aware of the issues you might have. There was over 35 of us and all of our rooms were pretty clean (we had 8 rooms all on the third floor.)

Here is my review from tripadvisor:

We used to stay there every year when I was growing up. Nothing special but I do remember it at least being clean. The pool was ok and always heated. We would just walk to the DH and have breakfast in the morning and then take the monorail into the park. The only drawback is at the end of the day. The last thing you want to do after a long day is walk to your hotel. Before DCA (I hope I am doing the abbrevations right) there was a pizza parlor called "Godfathers" and we would eat there for dinner. It was nice because it kind of broke up the walk. Hope this helped a little bit.

I don't think I can add anything unless you consider 1983 as "lately." ;)

Back then there used to be a lot of hookers and drug operators that hung out in the parking lot. But I imagine most of them have been brushed back from the Resort area by now.

Really!!? I thought that was the parking lot at the Apollo or Cosmic Inns. :p Those places were very 60s retro!

Wow we would feel right at home. We live in a bad part of Calgary since we got cheep rent. Anything under $1000 for a 3 bedrm is a good deal.

So I guess all I am trying to say is bring on the bad people I am ready for them.
