Finally found a Video8 vcr for my OLD camcorder tapes....
Captured to PC, edited video and audio for about 2 hrs and here is my end result. Not my best "rushed job" and I only had one take of the parade, so I apologize for the "herky jerky" of the camera.
It was 9 years ago.
Details:
Who: me
What: Wonderful World of Disney Parade
Where: Disneyland Paris
When: July 11, 1998 (4 months after its debut)
Notes:
The "princess float" was supposedly in existence during this time, however it did not join the parade on this day. Aside from parade stop segments, to my knowledge the princess float it is the only item making this montage incomplete.
Live audio dropped and extended edit of Dancin a Catchy Rhythm inserted.
Enjoy.

I've seen this parade before and there were a few things there I've never seen! For example the Hercules float, that was really cool. Thanks for the video! It cheared me up:)
On a side note, can I asked how you got that from a tape onto the PC? I'm not very technically minded:p

The simple way without needing to add components to your PC and what I did for this particular source.
I plugged the video8 VCR into a standalone DVDRecorder deck (Panasonic DMR-ES15S) which burnt the unedited raw footage onto a DVD-R disc. I then took the DVD disc from the Panasonic deck dumped the contents onto my computer from the DVD-ROM drive and edited the footage using various consumer/pro video editing software. The full resolution version of the completed video came out suprisingly clear considering the age of the tape. I am really afraid of this and older tapes aging and deteriorating in the years to come so I am now feverishly archiving old video 8 tapes to DVD now for editing later like this parade.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.....more to come.

The whole idea of the parade was so that they could drop in or take out sequences to suit what was on release at the cinemas / on DVD and video and to lengthen or shorten the parade to suit the time of year. If you bought the park CD "Les parades en Disney" you would see that the "catchy rythm" song is the link between each float then you get a Dumbo sequence - then "Catchy Rythm" then a Snow White sequence etc etc. The last time we were there they had added a Mary Poppins float and Chimney Sweep dancers (to promote the show in London one assumes). Hercules would be dropped when its popularity wained - no doubt Peter Pan is all the rage right now!
To be totally honest I'll be glad to see a new parade as the "catchy rythm" has been done to death. However, the Dumbo train is having a makeover for the 15th celebrations. Not ones to waste money are they?
