View Full Version : Disneyland Paris Audition
Richard Adams 03-19-2007, 02:35 PM Hello Everyone,
I'm new here, so I hope I've posted this in the right forum...?
Next week, I have an audition for Disneyland Paris' Once Upon A Dream Parade. The call is for characters, parade dancers, stilt walkers, jugglers and the like. I'm hoping to be admitted as a character performer, if at all.
However, my question to you guys and gals is what should I expect at the audition? My Brother's girlfriend worked as Disney Characters last year and has basically assumed that I'll breeze the audition process because of my year's training at a performance institution. I, however am not so confident and would love to hear about any experiences or things that I should expect next Wednesday.
Thanks in advance and great community you have here :)
Regards,
Richard.
wishiwasthere 03-19-2007, 07:17 PM Not sure because I never auditioned for Disney, but because you will be in a parade they might put you through a small dance audition to see if you can catch on to steps pretty quickly. If they see performance training on your resume you will have a leg up than most people because many of them don't have training.
Don't be nervous yet don't be like you are the king at what you do. Arrive early, good personality, come dressed nicely along with your hair done, etc. If you go to the disney audition website they give you some other tips about the audition such as not having to shake every judges hand, etc.
Let us know how you do!
Richard Adams 03-20-2007, 03:21 AM Great advice, thanks!
Do you happen to have a link where I can find those tips? I've searched all over the millions of Disney web sites for this sort of stuff.
I'll be sure to let you know how things go!
Richard.
Vegitabeta 03-20-2007, 05:24 AM I found this (http://corporate.disney.go.com/auditions/disneyworld/tips.html) for you, I hope it helps!
Richard Adams 03-20-2007, 09:57 AM Thanks so much!
If anyone else wishes to chip in, I'll check this thread regularly. Otherwise, I'll be sure to let you guys know when I know :)
Richard.
Vegitabeta 03-20-2007, 10:01 AM Good luck!
wishiwasthere 03-20-2007, 09:54 PM What I was referring to is what Vegitabeta posted.
Remember...make an impact on them so they will remember you.
They say, "Why do you want to be a disney character."
Wrong answer, "Because I always dreamed of being one." You and millions of others said that.
Think of something creative and be someone that will stick out when it comes time to choose who makes the cut and who doesn't. If you don't make it take it in, and try again. Good Luck!
stan4d_steph 03-21-2007, 12:33 PM I would suggest you check out MousePlanet's Cast Place (http://www.mouseplanet.com/search.php?type=c&cid=cp) section for some articles that might be of interest. :)
geoffa 03-22-2007, 01:57 PM Good suggestion by stan4d_steph. They expect you to be an all rounder. Dance, sing, tell jokes, be affable. If you can do impersonations (non offensive and non Disney) - go ahead. They're looking to see if you can have fun and in turn create fun and magic for the guests. Even CMs who work in the shops are expected to entertain. The one CM I always remember was at WDW. His job was to sweep up the horse droppings into a bin on wheels (they had a hay cart pulled by two beautiful dray horses) but he had to hoe - down dance as he was doing it. Now there's a challenge!
Above all be yourself. OH! And Good Luck. Hope to see you in that parade when I go later in the year.
Richard Adams 03-24-2007, 10:08 AM Hey guys n gals!
Thanks once again for some great links and advice. I had my head shots done yesterday and I'm pretty pleased with them - They look like me which is a good thing! Hehe.
I'm not the best with impressions, but I'll definitely try to have fun and will certainly be myself! It's drawing nearer... ahh!
Richard.
Richard Adams 03-29-2007, 01:05 AM Hey everyone,
Well I attended the audition, loved it and got in!! :D
I didn't sign on the day, because they didn't have a contract that suited my availability, but they're hoping to get me sorted within a few weeks, so fingers crossed!
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say who I'm friends with and all that kind of stuff, so I'll perhaps just leave it there for now. (If I can, let me know and I'll be sure to post it!)
Thanks so much for your support, links and help... I'm sure it played a big part in keeping me moderately calm.
Richard.
wishiwasthere 04-02-2007, 04:34 PM Congrats. Post some performing pictures. I would love to see you in action!
Vegitabeta 04-03-2007, 09:00 AM Well done Richard! What kind of thing are you going to be doing, or do you not know yet?
Richard Adams 04-04-2007, 01:09 PM Thanks guys!
They're going to sign me as character-only, but want me to take some jazz lessons for when I go out there, because the casting director said I had a good dancing base, but just needed to improve my more intricate moves.
I'm going to be friends with Goofy ;) and a stilt walker too!
Richard.
Belle2 04-04-2007, 04:48 PM Hi everyone! I am new in the forum. My name is Vanessa ,I´m a spanish girl of Madrid. I´m a skater and I´m going to the same audition that Richard but I will go in 15 days to Lyon in France. My congratulations to Richard.
Please Richard ,Could you give me something advices about audition? could you explain to me the audition process?
Are very hard the test?
Are they demand much?
With respect to the clothes, it puts in the letter that they have sent to me in sport clothes, but I should go to the audition in sport clothes?, or there can I change my dress?
I know there are many questions but I am very nervous .
Please , forgive me if my english is not very good.
wishiwasthere 04-08-2007, 06:32 PM Richard-have you ever taking a jazz lesson before? It's my favorite :) If you haven't taken a class before don't get overwhelmed! A lot of people tend to because it can get so stylized (I tend to get overwhelmed at first!!). Good luck!
Belle-you did very good with your English! I know it is a hard language!
Wear clothes that you are comfortable in, but make sure they are not too big on you. You should come prepared to the auditions (meaning wear the clothes you plan on auditioning in). Since you are female do not forget the make up, and bring lip stick and blush to do a quick touch up. Also make sure your hair is secure however you do it so it is not a mess (which can be a distraction) while you are auditioning.
Good Luck!!
Belle2 04-10-2007, 01:17 PM Many Thanks by your advices wishiwasthere. :) I wiil tell you about my audition.
Richard Adams 06-10-2007, 06:57 AM Hello Everyone,
Just an update to let you all know that I was contacted a few days ago with a date-to-date contract offer! I'm an ecstatic, as the dates are perfect, giving me just enough time to get back and prepare myself for my degree.
I leave in under two weeks and can't wait to get going! Paris, here I come!

wishiwasthere 06-12-2007, 07:44 PM Congrats!!
geoffa 06-14-2007, 11:09 AM Richard - well done. Glad all the effort paid off. Now go out there and knock 'em dead. Are you allowed to say which character you will be? If not I fully understand. You're in for a great summer with the 15th celebrations - enjoy! I had a friend who was one of the train drivers when the park first opened. He said it was hard work but just to be at Disney was more than reward.
simzac 06-14-2007, 05:50 PM Good luck Richard. I'm jealous.;)
xrachelx 07-13-2007, 01:44 PM Hey, I've got the audition for the parades next week. I want to be a parade dancer and have previous dance training but is there an acting element to the audition? What's it like? Thanks Rachel x
