I did a search for this, and found very few, limited threads.

So speak to me of cruises as adults with no kids. And I don't mean people who go without their kids, necessarily. I mean adult couples who have no children who happily (or unhappily) take Disney Cruises!

Hubby is recently employed, and gets great discounts on Disney vacations now. We have long wanted to take a cruise, but he always ruled out Disney Cruise Lines before. Now that we can get it so much cheaper, he actually asked me the other day, "So are there many people who do not have kids that go on the cruises? Have you read anything about it?"

I need info from you fabulous people! :)

AVP and I have no kids. We've cruised 5 times, only once with kids (niece, nephew and cousins). For just the adults it is fantastic. The adult only areas are very nice - and very quiet. The kids tend to disappear on the ship - they get very busy with their programs.

Deck 3 Forward is reserved for adults after 9pm - lots of music, dancing, entertainers - all with an adult flavor. Some of the routines are very funny - and not kid friendly.

We took 30+ family members for a family reunion, and several non-kid adults. Every one of them enjoyed it - and several have booked the Panama Canal cruise with us next year.

My husband and I went on a Disney Cruise six and a half years ago with no children on our honeymoon. We went on the seven day cruise and had a blast. There was plenty to keep us busy without having a kid at the time. They seated us with other honeymooning and childless couples for our meal rotation.

No kids here... I think DCL does a better job of most of keeping kids and adults entertained apart. Two big thumbs up!

Disney does a fantastic job with adults. Disney is also the only cruise line that enforces a no kids policy at various areas around the ship. The pool area is wonderful and there is a fantastic coffee place and it is no kids and strictly enforced. I have been on Disney several times and most of them (two exceptions) have been without kids. On one trip, we did not see may kids at all and were wondering if there were any......well to our surprise there were several hundred of them and we only saw them as they were heading to their talent show in the theatre. Disney has one of the best kids programs afloat and the kids tend to want to stay in that program. Also, Disney makes sure you know what is going when so that when the Characters come out, you don't have to be there as that is usually a big draw for kids. As Tony said, there is a section that is kids only every evening and it is a great placve to get away. It is comprised of three clubs, a dance club, a comedy club, and a traditional bar. Disney knows that there are alot of adults out there without kids but still want to experince the Disney treatment and they really do make sure that everyone is made comfortable.

We've been on 3 so far and have the Westbound repo in 08 booked for our 4th!

We have no kids and have not traveled with children and have a had a great time. And the adult only beach at Castaway Cay is heaven!!

For the record, we aren't anti-kids or anything so drastic. In fact, a bit of the fun of Disney ANYTHING is getting to see the kids be kids with the Disney magic. Like the mention of the kid's talent show above sounds intriguing--we might actually want to SEE that. Sounds fun! So my question isn't so much about avoiding all kidlets, but instead making sure that there is enough to entertain us, and of course a few places to get away now and again.

Thanks for the responses so far. Keep 'em comin'!

Definitely enough to do! There are a variety of adult only seminars on sea days, including beer, wine, and margarita tastings. The spa area is also adult only including the gym. Also first run movies are shown on board.

If anything there is too much to do so don't plan on everything (hence the repeat cruises).

Hubby and I have no kids yet. And we havent travelled with kids on DCL yet (nephews or anything). We LOVE IT! we're going on our 3rd disney this summer to the mediterranean.

They have so many programs just for adults. and the pool area just for adults is really quiet and calm. very nice! its the way they pump the music in and keep the family - more upbeat music in the family area. its a really nice change of pace.

We went to the cooking and wine seminars on board when we had days at sea. Those are a lot of fun and you get to eat what chef made. yum :)

We also went to the towel-folding seminar too. Cute!

You see kids all over but its not bombarded with them, because as others have already stated, they stay with their groups or in their Oceaneer club groups. So you will see them around the ship but you honestly don't notice it as much as on other ships. Because Disney gears themselves toward every group they plan on having on their ships - couples without kids, families, single parents, etc. They really cater to each group individually and really do a great job of it.

I highly recommend going. I love watching the kids though when we do encounter them in larger groups -- like seeing their faces light up at the character meet and greets and things like that. Its amazing how they react to the simplest things. I love kids. I just don't have any yet hehe =) (one day...)

And watch the character meetings. even if you arent getting in line, watch from above in the atrium. Since the actors who play them are on the ship and work together for 8 months or more at a time, they REALLY interact with each other and really play their characters well! Hook likes to "yell" (motioning wildly with his arms and sword) at Smee. Stitch tries to destroy the ship and everything on it, at all costs. Chip and Dale do this to some extent also. Wendy Darling is definitely a sweetheart and never gets into trouble. Pinocchio likes to laugh at Smee who's getting yelled at by Hook. The princesses are sweet as always. Lilo and Stitch like to get each other in trouble. (one time they tried to steal a kids lollipops for themselves). HA :)These are treat to watch from afar.

If you do the Caribbean cruises, make sure you go to the adult area at Castaway Key too. I hear the food is really yummy over on that side. (we stuck to the family beach because we wanted to snorkel and find the underwater treasures). So we never made it to the adult beach. But i hear it is nice and quiet over there and the food is a lil more esquisite than just burgers :) hehe

So definitely try for a disney cruise. you wont be disappointed!! We've got this summer's one coming up and then Panama Canal in 2008! :) And eventually we plan on taking a 3 or 4 day one to the Bahamas with extended family when the nephews get older :)

My husband and I took the Disney cruise for our honeymoon in February of 2002 and it was SO romantic and wonderful that I wondered how anyone could have as much fun if they actually had kids.

We have a baby now and although I'm looking forward to taking him to WDW and on the cruise in a few years, for now, the hubby and I are once again headed to the Bahamas for a little alone time along with another couple.

Late nights at the piano bar, first run movies in the theatre, quiet time on Castaway Cay at the adults-only beach, no stroller to push around while sightseeing, and no worries about babysitting while we're swimming with the dolphins in Nassau... <happy sigh>.

will not sail ANY OTHER WAY but Disney--this Aug 08 repo will be our 5th cruise-second thru the canal--WE LOVE IT! Please consider Disney--you will NOT be disappointed and if you want to mingle with kids, they are there but will be busy with all of their activities. Also, the adult entertainment is great--dancing, comedians, etc.

GO FOR IT!!!!;)

Can't add much to what others have said but will say that childless Disney cruises work well for senior citizens too. We took our first Disney cruise in January at ages 77/84 and had a wonderful time. We will both be a year older when we take our next Disney cruise in December.

My husband and I don't have kids and we are going on our third Disney cruise on the Westbound repo in 08. We had been looking for Panama canal cruises on other cruise lines, but when this one came up we had to take it. Disney is the best! There is always too much to eat, drink and do to take it all in. Most of the kids that you see are well behaved which is always an added bonus. I highly recommend Disney for adult travelers! :)

Possibly Disney is better at watching out for wild kids than other cruise lines, - I've read horror stories of kids going up and down corridors creating havoc in the middle of the night and the cruise line doing nothing about them. I've never been on a Disney cruise - but would love to go on one, even though I have no children. I'm hoping to go with a friend and her family including grandkids someday.

And I heard for the Repos in 2005 they had 1,800 kids on the eastbound trip (August) and only 300 on the westbound (May) so they opened up the kids' area for the adults to play on the westbound.

HERE'S hoping they do that again!
