I have Comcast Internet (cable modem). Recently I have not been able to get to the comcast.net home page. On my desk top I have an Icon that is supposed to run Internet Explorer(7) which goes to my comcast home page and another one that will take me directly to my Yahoo Calender, which is run through IE. The calender comes up in it's normal time, the home page will not come up complety. I have to go through the short cuts I have in my Favorites to get any where, including comcast mail which works fine. Any ideas on what to do to figure out what is wrong? I can not get to any of the help pages on comcast.net and when I run the 'Network Diagnostics for Windows XP' it says there is no problem.

It sounds like it could be a routing problem inside Comcast's network, but I think you could eliminate a possible local cause by power cycling your cable modem and home router, if you have one. If you have another computer on the same home network, does it have the same problem connecting to your Comcast home page?

To add to what Andrew mentioned, a lot of times when I see this sort of thing, it is because of something wrong on the machine that you are using. If you dont have another machine at home to try, see if a neighbor has CHSI and see if they have the same problem. If they do, then you know it is at least not an issue on your machine.

We have just the one computer. How do I power cycle my cable modem and home router? I am not definate on what the router would be, is it the SURFboard box on my desk?
(not very computer literate here)
GusMan-as far as some one else with CHSI, I am not sure what that is. How close would they have to be, my GF lives 1/2 mile away (same town).

The SURFboard box is the cable modem. It should have three cables connected to the back:

Cable TV
Ethernet (looks like a thick telephone wire)
Power

Just disconnect the power cable in the back of the box, wait a minute or two, and plug it back in.

CHSI - Cable High Speed Internet.
(Sorry for using the ETLA. Um, I mean, Extended Three Letter Acronym. :) )
Generally speaking, anyone in the same general area with the same service will be serviced by the same branch of the providers network. In your GF's case, if she is also using Comcast internet, it very well may be a valid test.
