I was planning on sending my dh and one of my 5-year olds (the braver of the two) on Star Tours. I really don't want to traumatize him, but he loves Star Wars and related stuff.
Any experience on this with little ones would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Amy

Depends on whether he likes being thrown around or not. Does he suffer from any motion sickness? Has he been on any of the motion riders that you get at fairs and malls? It's always hard to guess these things and as his parent YOU know him best. I have a 5 year old nephew who you could throw off a cliff and he'd still think it was a thrill ride. His brother (8) would scream the place down! Also consider his height - restriction is 40 inches. He'd only be held in place by a lap belt.

I think he will be O.K. on it. My DD was 6 when she went on it for the first time, and it was one of her faves(after Indiana Jones). If he is tall enough I'd feel fine sending him on(he might even convince his brother to go on!)

We took my son to DL for the first time for his fifth birthday. We actually took him over a month before his birthday so he was still four. He had never seen Star Wars before (This was in 1999, before the newer movies came out) and he loved that ride.

I don't think the height restriction will be an issue. I don't remember heights, but my two-year-old is 40 inches tall so I can't imagine a normal five-year-old being under 40.

It's been my 5 year old daughter's favorite ride for 2 years. She always has to go on it when we first arrive. She likes me to hold her hand until we are through the ice portion, then she's fine.

Everyone's different, but it was my favorite ride when I was that age. I scared pretty easily, too.

My DD went on it when she was 3 and was a little scared the first time but now she loves it! She just turned 5 and pretty much likes all the rides except the Matterhorn because the "monster" scares her, she even calls the Matterhorn the Monster Ride!

My 4yo is so ready for it but everyone is being so nice and making him wait until I can go on with him to see him is first time riding it! What he doesn't know won't hurt him! I can't wait to take him on it!

It is my 6 year old's and both of my 5 year olds' favorite ride. They all started going on it when they were 4 and we never had a problem.

My oldest DS was five for his first ride...He thought he really went to outerspace which was SOOOO CUTE!! What big eyes he had when he told me that he really saw D2 and 3PO...he's now 10 and it is still one of his favorite rides...

We took my son when he was 3 3/4, and he loved it, although he was rather irritated that Han Solo was not "driving" and he didn't know who that robot was (they created for the ride). He also liked Tower of Terror the first time, the second time our "car" was full of screaming cheerleaders and he decided he had no interest in doing that one again. ;)

My now 5yo went on it when he was 4, and loved it. We plan to take him again, along with our 3 1/2 yo, who will be 4, by our next trip, and will have then grown that extra 1/2 inch he needs so he can go on the bigger rides, on it when we go to the parks again. They both love Star Wars. My younger one is more of a dare devil, but my oldest LOVES BTMRR. My little guy wants to go on Screamin'.

Both my girls are fine with riding Star Tours. Of course, we are all Star Wars fans so that helps!:D
