That has something other than junk?

We like the Carnation Cafe's peanut butter sandwich painter's pallet. We're always looking for alternatives to chicken nuggets and pizza (and my boys don't eat salad well). Where do you go?

White Water Snacks has a lot of good options. Yamabuki has Chicken Teriyaki, steamed rice, etc that my son devours every time and then eats almost all of my salmon too! He also likes the BBQ drumstick meal at Riverbelle Terrace and Macaroni and Cheese at the French Market.

Do they eat pasta and sauce instead of pizza? My son likes the ravioli at Pizza Port. (I know - it's the pizza place - but he gets the ravioli there.)

They will eat the pasta...unless they see the pizza first :p

And I haven't been too happy with Whitewater since they changed everything. Now it seems to be the same as all the other places. Last time we were there we ordered some nachos and there was a rubber band in them. I just havedn't been able to make myself go back since then.

What the heck was a rubber band doing in with the nachos?! I hope you took it back!

Oh, they took the nachos back, paid for our meal and gave the boys each a Mickey Mouse ice cream cookie snack. They were very nice and appologized over and over but I just can't eat there again.

I like the little concession stand in front of the Bountiful Valley. It has a lot of fresh fruit and ice cold water. I love the pineapple!

We ALL eat the kids pasta at RRPP.
And we get fruit from the place in adventureland, and pickles from the mainstreet cart.

The last time we left DL in february, i swore if i never saw a french fry or chicken finger again i'd be okay with it. And my kids were devouring watermelon like they might not see it again! (because of the fried food overload!)

Note to self: bring rubber bands to Disneyland.:~D

Just kidding! Really!

I like Plaza Inn, but mainly because of the kid straws that change color. I'm sure they have those elsewhere, but...yeah.
I love the place in DCA that has soup in bread bowls...forgot what its called. =]

Older kid really likes the chicken drum sticks at Cafe Orleans. They are grilled, not fried so healthier than the usually kid fair and served with fruit.

We love the vegetarian gumbo in bread bowls at, hmm, Royal Street Veranda.

This upcoming trip we hope to branch out a bit more, but our previous one-day trips haven't yielded all that much time to eat!

My family and I love River Belle Terrace. My 7-year old loves their ribs and my 2 younger children love the bbq chicken. I, in particular, enjoy the cole slaw.

My family and I practically live for going to White Water Snacks, although you said in this thread that you don't go there. Sadly, I don't have many other recommendations, although Pizza Port (like another user said) has a few other options aside from pizza.

We're fans of Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland. In addition to pretty good Mexican food (with yummy little burritos, rice & beans for the little ones), the ambiance in the evening is wonderful. We've also been pleased with the Plaza Inn, Cafe Orleans, and River Belle Terrace (all offer alternatives to chicken nuggets).

Our absolute favorite is The French Market in New Orleans Square. We like the fried chicken, the bread bowl clam chowder, the bread bowl stew, the jambalaya, the mint juleps and all the kids' dishes. Now, they've changed they menu somewhat recently so I'm not that familiar with it any more. But, we also like the atmosphere and the live music there, being close to the Haunted Mansion, the river, the Frontierland train station and all the sights and sounds of New Orleans Square, including Fantasmic! at night.

DITTO! We love French Market, for both good food and the atmosphere. We go at least once every trip, if not more often.

We are also Whitewater Snacks converts.

And there is a sandwich shop in the "food court" area of DCA --Pacific Warf Snacks --that I like very much. Sandwiches are my favorite thing to eat...ever. And there is a surprising lack of good sandwich options in DLR. I wish this place had more options, but if I can get a turkey sandwich and a side salad, I am pretty happy.

Bengal Barbecue. Bacon-wrapped asparagus. Nothing like making something healthy into something really bad (and yummy!) by wrapping it in bacon!

the menu at River Belle intrigues me. I don't think I knew they served all that. I had only ever been there for breakfast...

Since you are trying to be healthy, go for a walk and cross Harbor. Take a left (North) and walk to Mimi's (not Millie's!) next to HoJo's and ask for their healthy menu. If a new waiter says they don't have a healthy menu, correct him or her--they do. Substitute the veggies and fruit with your meal.

We've been to Mimis a million times but I'm not hauling all 4 boys over there, especially when one is screaming for milk :p I know some people like it but I hate leaving the park for food. It's way more hassle than it's worth.

But I do love our local Mimi's because the second you sit down, even before they pass out menus, they put down a little plate of fruit and cheerios for the kids. Gotta love that.

Bengal BBQ along with a Dole Whip can't be beat but for a quick snack that to nibble or gnaw, we go for the turkey leg... and after seeing the Food Channel's special on the food at Disney, we see those yummy legs in a whole new light.

The Italian place across from the wharf in DCA is great for the price... basically the same as you'd pay for a meal on the wharf except for the addition of gratuity. They have several good kids meals including some kind of Italian hot dog with pepperoni, and the bonus, if you're in the mood, adults can enjoy a glass of wine.
