could someone explain this procedure to me? We like to ride Space Mountain with our 11 year old but now we have a 10 month old that will be with us.Is this the type of ride u swap on or is that meant for a child to ride twice with a diffrent parent each time.

With child swap - one person stays with the child who cannot or will not ride; then when the other person (people) finishing riding, the one who waited can then ride. I believe up to 2 people can re-ride with the person who waited.

For the rides with fast pass, the person waiting gets a child swap pass then enters the fast pass line when their party returns from riding.

the idea being ride/baby/child swap is that for those rides with height restrictions, such as space mountain, where the family has a child who can't ride, a few of those who can are able to go on while someone stays behind with the child(ren) who can't, and then you switch off, so that a few (including the one who stayed behind the first time) can ride. in essence, it means your 11 year old can ride twice with either parent.

the specifics differ between attractions, so just ask the greeter CM (the CM at the front of the attraction). i suspect you'll also find more info on this in the parenting in the parks forum on here.

Brad is right... there is a good past discussion about the rider swap here (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=54933&highlight=rider+swap).

Yep, and then on some rides there's a special area for the non-riders to wait while the 1st set of riders rides. Then when the first parent & the riding-child finish & are reuinted with the non-riders, there's a special entrance for the 2nd rider(s) to use to return to the ride, bypassing the que. Either way ("fast pass" type or special waiting area), it sure beats having to wait in line twice.

What if your "babies" are actually 13 and 9, but don't want to ride, nor wait alone, but don't want mom and dad to have to ride alone either. Is their a place where non-riders can wait for riders on most rides?

I would think at 13 & 9, they could wait at the nearest bench. Maybe give them some $ for an icecream or drink while they are waiting.

Ahh, should have mentioned - the 13 year old has a learning disorder in the autistic spectrum...Non-Verbal Leaning Disorder (NLD). His is moderate, so I can leave him in charge of the 9 year old, but not for long periods of time. He's better off coming through the line with us, but not riding. Can't deal with the faster rides with heights and drops. POC is about the level he's comfortable with. 9 year old doesn't like them either. But both kids would like to see the theming of the queues. Most of the time, since DH can take or leave the rollar coasters, he stays with them and goes on rides I can't deal with (like the teapots...I can ride any rollar coaster, but something that just spins around makes me ill, even merry-go-rounds). But in this case, he'd like to ride Expedition Everest and he wants to do with me, not alone. I don't mind going alone, he does.
