hi all - has anyone done one of these Danskin Triathalons? I'm thinking of signing up for one. I did the WDW 1/2 marathon inJan. of 2006 - and a muddy buddy in August of 2006...since then I've kinda let myself go  but I'm thinking this would be just the thing to get myself back - in - the - grove so to speak.
I just can't figure out how many laps in our pool is 1/2 mile?!?!

Well, a mile is 5280 feet.
A yard is 3 feet
So a mile is 1760 yards.
A half mile is 880 yards.
So if your pool is 25 yards, it's just over 35 lengths of the pool to be a 1/2 mile. Adjust for however long your pool is.
If it's a backyard pool, it's probably not 25 yards, but you need to be aware of what kind of pool you'll be swimming in - because the shorter the pool, the more turns per 1/2 mile, and that can alter the amount of energy it takes to go the same distance.

I have to do the calculation EVERY time I want to figure it out. I know the 5280 ft/mile number, and the 3 ft/yd number - but I have to do all those other conversions every time! I guess I just have too many other numbers stuck in my brain!
