Pre vacation Happenings
During our 2000 visit we decided that we would make an honest couple of each other, Dave proposed to me on my birthday, happily I said 'Yes' and accepted the engagement ring, Dave had purchased from the Disney Store at Downtown Disney, a gorgeous little ring in the shape of Mickey's Head. During our Sept 2001 visit we purchased his and hers wedding rings from the Mouse Gear store at Epcot, you've guessed it, both adorned with Mickey's Head.
We had now to decide where and when we would be getting married. We canvassed our families to find out if they would mind if we got married abroad, this would mean they would not be present at the wedding, no problem. Dave's daughter Charlotte, was happy to come, we also invited her friend Lucy. They would both be taking important exams at school during May/June so we set the date for the first two weeks in July 2002. My son Joe is 20 who works for a Bank and had no problem booking his vacation for this time, we also invited his girlfriend along.
We booked two rooms at our favourite Moderate Resort 'Coronado Springs', using our Disney Club membership to get the best rate going at that time. So now we had the rooms and guests all we needed was a location. After much debating and discussion we decided to book an Intimate Wedding Package direct, this proved to be easily done - 6th July 3.00 at Sunset Point. Staying at our favourite moderate resort and getting married at our favourite Deluxe resort, what could be more Magic! All was going well, our friend Andy would be in Florida at the time, we invited him and his friend Dave (Who was starting a three month around the World trip) along to our wedding, they both accepted and would be joining us for four days from the 5th July.
Then disaster struck, Charlotte and Lucy said they couldn't make it, and wouldn't be able to make it for the foreseeable future. After long and heart rendering discussions it was decided that we would go ahead with our wedding, we changed our room assignments to seven days at the Coronado Springs and seven days at the Polynesian Resort Concierge, what the heck, we were feeling down about Charlottes decision and you only do this once. Could anything else go wrong, of course it could, just before we booked the Airline tickets, Joe decided to split from his girlfriend. Well, an Intimate Wedding it would be!
At last the day arrived, dog in the Kennel, house closed down off we go.
Day 1 - Friday 28th June.
Breakfast - Starbucks (Manchester Airport)
Lunch - Aeroplane
Dinner - Pepper Market (Coronado Springs)
We got up at 5.45am, Joe rang wanted to wear a shirt I had packed, lucky it was at the top of the case, so I was able to get it out easily. Running on time, perfectly packed the car, off we go. Half a Mile down the road I asked Dave if he had picked up the shirt I had taken out of the case, of course he hadn't back home we headed.
After a 90 minute journey we arrived at Joe's house in Manchester. He lives near to the airport, so parking at his house saves us having to pay for Airport parking. We hired a taxi to the airport, 'Which terminal' said the driver 'Two' Dave replied with confidence. After a half hour walk from terminal two to terminal one we booked in our cases and went for breakfast at Starbucks, I somehow managed to tip coffee over myself and Joe, not a good start so far.
We flew with My Travel a charter flight company, on an Airbus 330, the flight was a bit cramped but at least we all sat together. After what seemed forever, actually nine hours, we landed at Sanford Airport. We got through immigration quite quickly, Dave went to dollar to pick up the car which he upgraded (Knew he would).
We arrived at Coronado Springs at 6.00pm (11.00pm at home). Dave had booked a garden view room and faxed ahead asking for a location by the Main pool, also mentioning that we were getting married whilst on vacation. The hoped for upgrade never happened, however we had a good location right next to the pool entrance and were extremely happy to be on vacation at the most magical place on earth. I had just finished unpacking when an Intimate wedding bag arrived with a beautiful vase of flowers. The bag had a Walt Disney World Photo frame and a Mickey memories book, which came in perfect for writing my vacation journal in. The flowers had been arranged by Dave through the Walt Disney Flower company, this was really going to turn into a 'wow' vacation. Walked down to the Pepper Market for some dinner, we wandered back to the room and Joe went for his first swim.
Day 2 - Saturday 29th June.
Breakfast - Maya Grill - (Coronado Springs)
Lunch - Fountain view Café (Epcot)
Dinner - Le Cellier (Canada)
Most amusing - Joe Walking (he goes everywhere by car)
Most wowing - Epcot Illuminations (Every time)
We got up at 4.15am, Joe got up with us (I was most amazed) and we went for a Jacuzzi and swim. This is a most excellent time of the day to be out. it is so peaceful. The bubbles weren't working in the Spa (disappointment) however is was still hot, we enjoyed a 20 minute soak. We went for an, all you can eat, breakfast at the Maya Grill, the choice of food was excellent. Joe made a pig of himself on Bacon and pancakes.
We caught the bus (Bus stop No4) and made our way to MGM Studios. Dave and Joe went on the Tower of Terror whilst I got them a Fast Pass for the Rock n Roller coaster, although I have done both these rides on one occasion before there is no way you would get me back on. Whilst they were on the coaster I did a bit of window shopping then we all moved onto the Great Movie Ride. Dave and I love this ride, great scenes taken from memorable movies, we always seem to see a new movie in the celebration at the end of the ride. We tried millionaire but it had a long wait time, so off we went for a Haircut in the sound studio. We cheated here and made our way in through the exit, entered a booth and relaxed whilst CJ went through the first day at his new job. This small section is one of the most overlooked and missed in WDW. We left MGM after perusing the shops.
Knowing Joe and his attitude to walking, Dave decided to con him into going to Epcot along the walkway, after much moaning we arrived on the Boardwalk. Dave went into ESPN for a beer, he was lucky and caught the end of the Quarter Final at Wimbledon (Tim Henman won) whilst Joe spent a couple of dollars in the Arcade. I sat on the boardwalk enjoying the sun and the scenery. We went through to Epcot, Joe decided to go straight back to the room, Dave and I went to the Fountain view café. I had cheesecake and orange juice, and Dave had Brulee and coffee.
Back to our room, we all went for some sun and a swim. Joe had decided that he had to buy some clothes, we headed off in the car to a Mall which was about 10 minuets away from Downtown Disney. Just as we finished shopping the heavens opened up, after a half hour wait it stopped enough to make our way back to the car and back to our resort.
We decided to go to Epcot for Dinner and to watch the Illuminations. We were all feeling hungry so decided to go to the Le Cellier in Canada, we have eaten here before and have always found the service and food to be excellent. It was a half hour wait before we were seated, at least we got in, next time I'll ensure that I make a PS reservation. Dave and I had Cheese soup to start, Dave loves this, followed by Rack of Lamb (Dave), Salmon (Me) and Steak (Joe). Our server was ever so charming remarking about her trip to England, having caught on to our accents. Joe decided it would be the last time he would order a medium steak, medium well from now on, but give him his dues he did finish his meal. It was only 15 minutes before Illuminations when we left the steakhouse we decided to watch our first show of our vacation from in between Canada and the Future World walkway. The view of the Globe was excellent however not the best for the fireworks because of the trees, not to worry we would be back on many occasions. The show was amazing as it always is, we walked with the crowds to the bus and back to our room. Joe went for a swim, the first of many midnight swims for him, being young and single we know he had more on his mind than just swimming.
Day 3 - Sunday 30th June
Breakfast Bakery - (Coronado Springs)
Lunch Pretzel - (Magic Kingdom)
Dinner - House of Blues (Westside)
Mystery - Joe uses a paper and pen?
Best Laugh - Man Jumping to the Thunder
Sad moment - Man taking children away from Splash Mountain
Amazing, our second morning here and we didn't get up until 7.00am, we are adjusting to the five hours time difference quicker than ever. Joe decided that he would stay in bed, so Dave and I walked around to the Bakery. We had Muffins, Croissants and coffee whilst taking in the fantastic view around the lake at our Resort, wouldn't it be great if you could bottle up the atmosphere and take it home! We had brought our Coronado refillable Mugs, back from a previous visit, here is a tip, make sure you put the correct colour tops on your mugs. We had brought light blue tops with us, they didn't match the dark blue everyone else was using and got us a few funny stares from the Pepper market CMs. Back to the room, we noticed Joe had taken a piece of paper and written a note to someone, who we will never know. Joe continued to stay in bed, we had told him that this was his vacation too and he could make his own decisions, where and when he wanted to go.
Took the bus to the Magic Kingdom arrived at 8.50 before the opening ceremony, the crowds were very big getting through security, it amazed us both, the number of people who had bags trying to get straight through, just to be sent back to the rear of the queue. We decided to do Splash first, onto the first train of the day a five minute ride and we were there. It's fun going in this early, seeing everyone who has rushed through the park, out of breath, whilst we had a leisurely ride LOL. Out of luck the ride broke down, 10 minutes later it was up and running and we were nearly on, emergency stop, some fool had got off the ride when it first broke down. Here is the saddest point of our vacation, after waiting more than 15 minutes to get on the ride the man in front decided he wasn't going to wait anymore, the look of disappointment on his two children's faces when he pulled them from the ride was ever so sad. Even worse - the ride started one minute after they left. Hey out there, life is too short, enjoy it to the full. Walked back up to the Christmas shop, we decided on a Mickey and Minnie, getting married, tree ornament they are ever so cute. We didn't buy straight away, most of our gift shopping would be done at Downtown Disney (to get the 20% Amex discount). Onto the haunted house the new gravestone is a laugh - those eyes - we also found the hidden Mickey in the dining room. Meandered out through Fantasyland and stopped for a Pretzel at the stand near to Dumbo. We sat for half an hour people watching the kids are ever so happy smiling faces all around us. On through to Tomorrowland and a ride on the Tomorrowland transit authority, nipped into Adventureland for a Dole whip and out of the park, after a bit of window shopping.
We caught the Monorail through to Epcot and took a bus back to our resort. Joe had been swimming and was relaxing in our room reading his latest Gresham novel. The rain decided to start at 3.00, Dave was sitting at the table watching the storm through the window, all of a sudden he started laughing, a bolt of lightning had struck very near to the room, a poor man had jumped out of his shoes when the lightning struck, I didn't think it was funny the poor chap could have been struck himself.
We put our ponchos on and caught a bus to Downtown Disney, Joe (who is very designer label orientated) wouldn't wear a poncho with Mickey Mouse on it. He purchased a brolly at the Downtown Disney but took it back for a refund when he found it had Mickey on it. Dave tried to explain to him that one of the biggest designer labels in the World is 'Disney', to no avail, Joe finally purchased a brolly from West Side a great designer label Planet Hollywood!!. We ate at the House of Blues at Westside. Dave had Jambalaya, Joe had steak (Surprise) and I had Chicken. Dave was told that the pepper on his Jambalaya was the second hottest in the world, of course he had to try it, much to our amusement, he drank all the remaining water on the table and his mouth didn't cool down for half an hour. Joe decided to go back to the room whilst Dave and I went to Pleasure Island. A beer in the Beach Club and the Comedy Club followed by a Kinky Sax for (me) Martini on the rocks (Dave) in the Jazz Club and we were off back to our room for the night.
Day 4 Monday 1st July
Breakfast - Tusker House (Animal Kingdom)
Lunch - Didn't bother
Dinner - Pecos Bill Café (Magic Kingdom)
Surprise - Dave was very nervous going for the Wedding Licence
Quick worker Joe chatting up the ladies.
Had a later start than usual, late nights at Pleasure Island. Left the room for the bus stop at 8.30pm off to the Animal Kingdom. We weren't sure if our camera was working correctly so we dropped off the first roll of film at the Kodak shop in the entrance to the Animal Kingdom, it would be ready in 3 hours time, there's quick service. We decided to do the new rides before the crowds set in so we headed down to Dinoland USA. First stop Primeval Whirl, I didn't go on this it looks too much like a coaster, Dave and Joe went on the ride twice, once on each side. They thought it was ok but quite tame, they didn't bother going on the Triceratops Spin. They made their way round to the Dinosaur ride whilst I took in some of the glorious morning sun. Next we went round to Africa got 3 Fast Passes for the Safari in 40 minutes time and made our way to the Tusker House for Breakfast. We made real pigs of ourselves had a massive breakfast. Dave had Breakfast Croissant and a cinnamon roll, Joe ate Bacon, egg & biscuit with a muffin, I had sausage, egg & biscuit with a Danish. As we left Dave listened for the mother and crying baby, we couldn't here it, is this another victim of political correctness? A quick nosey round the shops (I would so like to buy one of the larger giraffes, but I'm afraid we wouldn't get it home safely on the plane), onto the Safari By now the queues were getting quite large, it never ceases to amaze me that people will queue for 40 minutes to go on an attraction when the Fast Pass time is also 40 minutes, Hey Ho. At first I thought we wouldn't see many animals on our Safari, however as the ride got going the animals came out, I don't think we have ever seen as many. My favourites are the Giraffes, they remind me of our previous stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, such elegant beasts. We left the Safari and made our way to Asia, the line on the river rapids was small so we decided to get wet whilst the sun was still shining. A fun ride made better by the company of a group of Teenagers who definitely wanted to get wet. We managed to stay quite dry, unusual for me, Dave and Joe wont sit by me normally they say I attract water, I spoke too soon the ride stopped us under the Elephants who are controlled by guests from the Bridge. We got soaked, the ride decided to stop for about 3 minutes - 3 minutes of constant bombardment LOL.
We left the park to make our way back to the room for a change of clothing, on the way we collected our photographs and were surprised to be given a pin. Dave has a collection of about 50 pins, he did the Maths and decided that if we developed all our prints on - site we could end up with quite a few pins to trade, what an excellent Idea. Joe was going for a swim while we made our way to Downtown Orlando, Court House, for our marriage license. The drive took about an hour and just as we parked the car (in the wrong place(Dave blames my navigating)) it was really his nerves, he hates doing official type things. We thought we had arrived and the heavens opened up. We got out, got wet and asked for directions to the court house. We weren't that far away 3 minutes later we were parking in the Multi storey. The courthouse is a beautiful building inside, lots of murals and local artwork, I wish we had taken the camera although Dave reckons that they wouldn't have allowed us to use it with the heightened security. One marriage license later we were making our way back to Disney, we arrived at 4.30pm
We decided to watch the Spectro Magic parade tonight so it was off to the Magic Kingdom, first place somewhere to eat because we missed Lunch. Joe decided he wanted a Hot Dog the only place I could think of was Pecos Bills. Joe got his Hot Dog, Dave and I had Cheeseburgers. The line for Splash was far too long and the Fast Passes had run out but we managed to get on big Thunder Mountain with a 15 minute wait. Joe got talking to three ladies on the way round, it never ceases to amaze me how quick he gets chatting to the opposite sex, he even ended up sharing a seat on the train with one of them. We walked down the side of the river to the Country bears Jamboree. This is always a great show, foot stamping and clapping along to those crazy bears. Down to the Main Street to watch the parade, we were a bit late today and couldn't get a front row seat. The show was packed but we managed to see the whole of the parade from by the Ice cream shop. The parade was brilliant, watching the kids faces as the spinning fish came up to them and winked, I don't know what was more fun watching the kids or watching the parade. We made our way back to the room and guess what? Joe went for a swim!!!
Day 5 Tuesday 2nd July
Breakfast - Dunkin Donuts/Kona Café
Lunch - Islands of Adventure
Dinner Mayo Grill/Peppermarket (Coronado Springs)
Dry Moment - Joe behind Dave on the Log ride
Heaven Moment - Sitting on the Polynesian Beach
We woke up a 7.00, today we are going to split up, I am going to have a leisurely day whilst Dave & Joe are going to Universal, they are both great coaster nuts and need the Adrenaline rush at least once per vacation. So today we will split the journal.
I had a slow morning getting ready, catching up with my journal then a bus to the Magic Kingdom. A quick transfer to the Grand Floridian. This is a gorgeous resort, we have never stayed here I know that one day we will. I looked around the shops, there wasn't much available in the gift shops relating to weddings, I was quite surprised considering the amount of Brides, Grooms and guests that must pass. There were some beautiful dresses in one of the shops, I needed a new dress but couldn't make up my mind which to buy. Next a walk to the Polynesian, this is my favourite resort it always feels very relaxing, leaves me without a care in the world. I was getting hungry so I bought a Banana nut loaf and orange juice from the Kona Café bakery and wandered down to the beach. Heaven (a late breakfast on the beach, sun, sand, waves lapping on the shore and birds singing in the trees) who needs a tropical paradise? While I was lazing I wrote postcards to the folks back home, Dave always finds this a chore, I enjoy writing about a few of our vacation experiences. Back into the Poly to book a PS for O'Hanas for the evening of the 4th of July, we have decided to watch the evening fireworks from the Polynesian beach, following reading posts on the Dis Discussion Boards. I needed to contact Michelle (Our Disney Wedding Co-ordinator) to ensure that all was on track for our wedding, I left a message on her answer phone. I am not worrying too much about the wedding arrangements at this moment, but I do hope Andy and Dave arrive ok from the Florida Keys. Andy is such a laugh and we are relying on them both for our wedding Photographs. Back to the Grand Floridian to buy the dress, I had decided which dress to buy and went for it. Back to our resort a spell on a hammock catching the sun followed by that never ending chore of washing some clothes. The guest laundry was near at hand and I have always found it easier to do a couple of washes rather than bringing too many clothes on vacation. Soon be time for Dave & Joe to arrive back.
Gave Jane a big kiss and we were on our way to Universal. Jane is not a big fan of fast rides and full days out in the Parks, so Joe and myself used up a couple of days, that were left over on tickets from our last visit. First we had to eat, Joe loves donuts he has fond memories from previous vacations so we had to stop on International Drive at Dunkin Donuts. Eight donuts and a large coffee later we were winging our way to Universal. it cost seven dollars to park I'm glad we stay on site now, we don't have this hassle at Disney. Our first stop was the Islands of Adventure, the crowds were all going into the left hand side of the park so we headed right towards the Duelling Dragons coaster. There was no line at all, straight on and off Four times 2 on Fire and 2 on Ice, what a thrill we love these coasters. No window shopping without Jane, straight round to the Jurassic Park ride, it is fun but no match to Splash Mountain. Feeling rather dry we walked to the Log flume in the toon area, a small wait and we were boarding a log. Sometimes I don't think, Joe ensured he stayed behind me in line, so as we boarded I was at the front (looking to get wet) and Joe was behind me sniggering that he would be staying dry. It didn't help that two large adults were in the same log, the collective weight must have been over 50 stones. Of course the log was low in the water the slightest downhill section caused what seemed like 10 gallons of water to splash onto my lap. We exited the ride and I aimed at the sunniest spot I could find, to dry out, took off my shirt and wrung out a few pints of water LOL. I was soaked Joe was laughing, time to get my own back, we went straight onto the rapids ride. This seems to be just as wet as the flume, I remained in the same condition I boarded the ride Joe came of just as wet, Hurrah. The lines for Spiderman, tower of Doom and The Hulk were all over a 45 minute wait so we both decided to walk round to the next park and dry off on the way.
We went on the following attractions, Twister, Kong, back to the future and the Terminator which was the best of them all. Two shows, the Horror make up show and Beetlejuice which we both had a good sing along too. The time was getting on for 4pm, guess what - the heavens opened up so we made our way back to the parking lot and called it a day. Back to Jane.
We all met up in the room at around 5.30. Michelle rang and we discussed the wedding plans, we are to meet up at 2.30 on our wedding day in the lobby at the Polynesian, Dave says he is getting more and more nervous by the hour. Dave and I went to the Maya grill for Dinner, I wasn't hungry and only had soup, Dave ate the special of the day (Veal steak) and Joe went to the Pepper Market for Chicken. A slow walk back to our room around the lake and into bed for the night, except for Joe who as you know by now, went swimming.
Day 6 Wednesday 3rd July
Breakfast - Peppermarket (Coronado Springs)
Lunch - Lottawatta lodge (Blizzard Beach)
Dinner - Brown Derby (MGM)
LOL Dave's surprise finding a stick in his Dessert
Disgusted moment - people leaving the show before the end
Up and about at 7.30, we are going to Blizzard Beach today, I hope it stays sunny. Breakfast at the Pepper Market, Dave had oatmeal and toast, I kept my sweet tooth going with a Pecan sticky bun and Joe had a bacon, eggs and hash brown, refilled our mugs with a cold drink and on our way to the bus stop. We arrived just after the Park had opened, I was surprised that the level of security here wasn't the same as at the main Parks, only spot checks were done on bags. Down to change, hire a locker and cream up for a sunny day. We went up to the summit on the chairlift, single rider lines seem to be everywhere now, it does make sense but sometimes you don't want to share with a stranger. At the top Dave and Joe decided to go on Summit Plummet but when they reached the line they changed their minds and took the quicker line and descended on the Slush Gusher, they walked back to the top and we all went on the Teamboat Springs, this is a fun ride we laughed all the way down, trying to steer the raft into any wave we could find. A lazy relax in the Cross Country Creek was now in order, I love relaxing in a tube whilst slowly drifting through Disney scenery. Of course this was interrupted as Joe tried to steer both Dave and me under the cold water streaming down inside the tunnel, he was successful getting Dave but listened to my protests and left me alone, what fun. A 20 minute swim in the wave pool later and we were sunning ourselves in the red hot sun. We were soon starting to get very hot so it was time to leave the park. We do take notice of the warnings about too much sun, nothing could ruin a good vacation more than a couple of days in bed with sunburn. We lunched at Lottawatta lodge I shared a Chicken wrap with Dave whilst Joe decided he wasn't too hungry, he would finish off some character cookies when he got back to the room.
We relaxed in our room for a while, caught up with a few chores then made our way to MGM. We went straight round to Fast Pass the Millionaire show, we were again astounded that a line was starting to form for the next show in 55 minutes that we had just got a Fast Pass for. Walked through One Mans Dream, this is a great celebration of the life and work of Walt Disney there are some fascinating Imagineering exhibits and the film at the end of the Attraction is very illuminating about Walt's Achievements. We were getting very nervy about missing our Fast Pass time as we left One Mans Dream, we only just made our time with 2 minutes to spare. We didn't get anywhere near the scoreboard in the show however the teenager who was in the chair was quite a bright spark and made it to the 3rd prize level. We walked around the shops for a while then made our way to the Brown Derby, which we had made a PS reservation for earlier in the day. Dave ate Steak followed by Banana pudding, you should have seen the look on his face when he pulled a stick out of his desert, must be running short of Bananas he said, LOL. Joe decided to try the Pork followed by Chocolate cake with brittle nut topping and I had Grouper (which was gorgeous) followed by brulee. Joe decided to call it a day, he does tend to get a bit grumpy, when he has been in the sun all day unlike Dave who gets Sleepy and I get a bit Bashful (well at least my cheeks get red). Onto the Fantasmic show, we sat down about 1 hour before the show was starting, even though there were 2 shows on that night the auditorium was already over half full. The atmosphere is great at this show, it is fun just relaxing and watching the antics of the guests all around us. The crowd attempted a couple of Mexican Waves however I think most folk were hot and sticky, the waves fizzled out pretty quickly. The show was excellent we had a great seat about half way around at the back, the view was Fantasmic. A bit of a gripe here, why do people get up to leave the show early? To get out quickly or to spoil the end of the show for everyone else, come on people there is plenty of time, don't rush. Anyway, out of the Park and back to the room, Joe is relaxing on his bed and doesn't take long to don his swimming shorts and head towards the pool. Good night.
Day 7 Thursday 4th July Happy Birthday America
Breakfast - The Land (Epcot)
Lunch - France ( Epcot)
Dinner - O'Hannahs (Polynesian Resort)
Happy Moment - Figments back
Magical moment Fife & Drum + Liberty singers
Wildlife spotting - Alligator in the Lake
Pig of the day - Dave had 10 Tiger Prawns - Joe Overstuffed on steak Chap who put his seat right in Front of us
Today is a busy day, we awoke at 7.30, those flowers in the room still smell lovely, caught a nearly empty bus to Epcot (will it be quiet!). We arrived just as the opening ceremony was taking place there weren't many people, we were surprised to see the character bus out, a great photo opportunity. We took photographs with Mickey & Minnie, Chip & Dale, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto what great fun to be mingling with the SuperStars. Dave and Joe went straight on to Test Track with very little wait, we then walked back to Spaceship Earth I love the music in the renaissance period and the glittering World Wide Web as the ride makes it's return to Earth. Next to the Imagination ride, Figments back, this is so much better than the replacement to the original ride. I'm so glad Disney listened to everyone's comments and revamped it, still not as good as the original or am I being too nostalgic, things should change with time. We started to feel hungry so we made our way to the Land, they have choices to suit everyone's taste in the Food Court, sausage, eggs and biscuits all round. Dave and Joe decided to spend an hour in innovations so I went shopping in Mouse Gear, sent a couple of packages to our new room in the Poly for collection tomorrow, Disney do accommodate every eventuality. We made arrangement to meet outside the American showcase at 11.30, I was late and the lads were tapping their feet, they can be so Impatient. We watched this is America in the America Gardens Theatre, I believe this was a special for the 4th of July. The Fife and Drums were excellent, they did poses from great American Battle Moments, although I have seen the images before I can't quite place them. Next on the stage were the Liberty singers who were most excellent they were accompanied by a (I think) some members of the Shockwave ensemble, the whole show was brilliant. We moved into the American Adventure Rotunda to be entertained by a group of Local Native American Dancers fantastic to see their authentic dancing and singing. We noticed the flag from Ground Zero on the back wall in the rotunda, a very sombre moment remembering the losses and heartache that every one suffered from that outrageous event. On to France, we ate Crepes with Orange Marmalade for lunch, sauntered to Great Britain and walked around the shops then decided to make our way back to the entrance, considering that Joe said four hours was too long to stay in any park, we managed to get through five hours without a grumble.
Whilst I caught the Monorail to the Grand Floridian Resort, the lads had decided to spend 2 hours in Disney Quest. They both had a terrible time getting transport to Downtown Disney, they ended up getting the Monorail to the TTC, then to the Polynesian Resort. Then a bus to Downtown Disney which decided it would go via the Grand Floridian Resort, around the back of the Magic Kingdom then to the Contemporary Resort they at last arrived at Disney Quest but didn't spend too much time there because they had to get back to the room to get changed for Dinner. On the walk back to the room Dave spotted a small Alligator in the Resort lake, is this dangerous, I suppose not maybe it is Disney's way of keeping the duck population down. I went to see my Hair Dresser to decide what style I would be having for our wedding. Next a quick visit to the Magic Kingdom to buy Cufflinks for Dave and Joe's shirts, we had been hoping to find Cufflinks with Mickey on them however they are not available at WDW so Dave decided that they would have Initial cufflinks a `D`on their Left Cuff and a `J`on their right cuff, for the wedding of Jane and Dave, how sweet. Back to our resort a quick change followed by a 20 minute soak in the hot tub.
We got changed and made our way to the Polynesian resort for the fireworks, a fruity cocktail at the bar then we made our way to the beach. Initially we found a great spot at Sunset Point, the Area was quite crowded and we were most surprised when someone decided to sit straight in front of us (on a sunchair). We made a few polite noises, he was ruining our view over the lake. I know fireworks are up in the air but Hey Mr, you sat straight in front of us, we don't complain too often so we moved further up the beach nearer the Ferry Landing. I'm glad we did, we met a great local couple who were watching the fireworks with their disabled son, they were ever so charming and offered us a Poncho to sit on. I wonder do the locals come here every year for the 4th July fireworks, great if they do because the Fireworks were Fantastic. A whole new show sent up from the Island at the centre of Bay Lake. the fireworks seemed to rise from all over the lake filling the entire sky with colour and sparkle, thank you Disney. Onto O'Hanas for our priority seating I had requested a window seat and we were given a seat with a great view of Bay Lake and the Grand Floridian. The meal is an all you can eat meat feast, both Dave and Joe were eating vast amounts, Joe teased our waiter that he could eat a whole plateful of steak, the next thing you know his plate was full of steak. He ate the lot but was so full he literally couldn't eat anything else. Dave and I finished off with Pineapple and Toffee, what a great end to another fantastic Disney day.
Day 8 Friday 5th July
Breakfast - Pepper Market (Coronado Springs)
Lunch - Concierge (Polynesian)
Dinner Portobelo Yacht Club (Downtown)
Wow moment - Roses Chocolate & Champagne
Yum moment - Dinner
Brill moment - Joe 8ft Swimming pool
Nearly there, the day before our wedding. We awoke very early at 6.00am, Joe was still out (He's not going to get an easy day today), we did the washing and went for an early swim, whilst Joe had a nap I went for breakfast with Dave at the Pepper Market, Dave had oatmeal and toast (He never eats oatmeal at home) I had strawberries with a Muffin and lots of coffee between us both. We sat outside the Lobby watching the wildlife on the lake, we both saw the alligator this time, it seems to spend its time trying to sneak up on unwary ducks, but it has no chance they are much too fast (thank heaven). We walked back to our room the long way round and packed for our transfer to the Polynesian, we even had time for one last laze in the hammocks catching the early morning sun. We arrived at about 11.30, Dave decided to valet park and we were taken round to the concierge lounge. We were told our room would be ready in 30 minutes so we wandered around the resort headed back for our room to be allocated, only to be told that the cleaners hadn't yet started our room. We came back three times after being told our room would be x minutes, here is a tip for the concierge CMs, if the room won't be ready for 4 hours tell your guests, they will make alternative arrangements instead of hanging around killing time. In between times we popped into the Concierge Lounge and partook in cookies and a soft drink, the staff in the lounge area were ever so helpful during our stay and always had a smile.
Dave and Joe hired a Water Sprite each and spent half an hour checking out Discovery Island, looking at River Country (which is closed down) and zipping around the Resorts, they both said it was lots of fun. At last we got into our room Wow, a dozen red roses, sent by Dave were waiting in the room, they were fantastic. We went for a swim as we got back to our room.
Andy and David arrived, very travel worn from their drive from Key West. Another knock on the door, the concierge had sent chocolates and champagne for us, to celebrate on the eve of our wedding, what a lovely thought and so Disney. our room had been turned down, they left chocolates by our pillow and arranged our Wedding Mickey and Minnie, here's the rub, the CM knocked again to ask if we required the turndown service, Joe answered and asked if he could have extra chocolates of course he got them, he is ever so cheeky when he wants to be. We all caught up with our vacation stories to date. Andy was a trifle tired but we wouldn't let him rest, we needed to get changed and away for our evening reservation. A bus tour later we arrived at Downtown Disney we did a little shopping Andy bought a watch for Alex, who is sadly at work in the UK, then off to the Portobelo Yacht Club for dinner. A couple of beers at the bar and we were called to our table, the food in here is excellent, they always look after you and Dave raves over the Melt in your mouth steak so Dave & Joe had steak, Andy had Lamb which he said was succulent, David had Salmon and I had Pork, we washed this down with an excellent bottle of Chianti (our favourite wine) and finished sharing two Creme Brulee topped off with fresh raspberries Yummy. We had planned to go onto Pleasure Island from here, but everyone was whacked out so we made our way back to the room and crashed out immediately. We were all surprised tonight, we all expected Dave to snore (he usually does when he's had a drink). But we were not let down Andy decided to sing in his sleep LOL.
Day 9 Saturday 6th July
Breakfast - Concierge (Polynesian)
Lunch - Champagne & cake
Dinner - California Grill (Contemporary)
Thank you - It didn't rain
Proud moment - Joe walking me to be Married & his Speech
Dreamy - The whole day
Dave had set the alarm to wake us all at 6.30, I answered the wake up call, it seems they are Advertising now rather than Mickey Up and at Ya!, I much prefer the old wake up call. Dave, David and me went for an early morning dip in the quiet pool, an invigorating swim and we were all ready to face this long awaited for day. We ate Breakfast in the concierge Lounge, Danish, bagels, muffins and fruit were enjoyed by all. Andy proves to be a laying in bed type of person, no way could we get him up for a swim or for breakfast although he does love his food, he's always eating and complaining he is getting too fat around his waist. Joe was laying in as always we will let him get up under his own steam. Every one decided to go different ways this morning, David went exploring, it his is first visit to Walt Disney World he went visiting hotels on the Monorail and took a trip across Bay Lake on a resort boat. Andy and Joe went to Downtown Disney, both were as prepared as ever, they went shopping for a wedding present for us. I spent some time on the beach with Dave then made my way to the Ivy Trellis, hairdressers in the Grand Floridian Resort.
My hair stylist was a wonderful person her name is Regina, I would recommend to all of you to make a visit for that special night out, she kept me very entertained with her amusing stories and made a wonderful job of my hair, it was perfect, just how I wanted it for our big day. Dave walked down to the resort to meet me and we had a nice romantic walk back along the beach. You might have guessed by now that we are not sticklers for tradition, we did not worry about seeing each other on our wedding day and it didn't seem to make any difference at all. We all met up at the room at 12.15, we decided to open our cards and presents before our wedding. one of the cards had been filled with the holes from a hole punch, thousands of them were littered around the room after I threw them all over Dave, we even spotted them in the hotel corridor later in the day. it was soon time for everyone to get changed, Dave and Joe looked ever so handsome in their outfits and I felt very grand in my dress. We made our way down to the Lobby to meet Michelle our Wedding Co-ordinator at 2.15. The Reverend Jack Day Officiated at our wedding, he is such a charming man with quiet a few stories to tell to keep everyone amused and the nerves at bay. Michelle had also brought all the flowers, yellow roses in everyone's buttonhole and my bouquet which was lovely. David, Andy and the Reverend Jack were taken around to Sunset Point in an electric car and then Michelle came back for us.
The sky was gorgeous, the waves were lapping against the Sandy shore and the Palm trees swayed in the gentle breeze. Dave walked up the path and turned to face in my direction, when he reached the Reverend Jack, he watched Joe escort me towards them whilst a lone violin played When you wish Upon a Star, I felt very proud, happy and so much in Love, all at the same time. Andy video recorded our wedding and David took lots of Photographs our memories will last forever. When the ceremony was over we enjoyed cake and champagne, I had to laugh when we were asked to give each other cake to eat, this is not a tradition in Great Britain, and it came back to mind how we have seen this on many an American film. Joe then made an excellent speech it brought tears to both our eyes, he is such an excellent son we both love him so. Next we went for our first dance, Cinderella's Waltz with Cinderella's Castle as our backdrop, this is what dreams are made of. Time to use our Stretch Limo, it was waiting outside the Hotel lobby. Big debates had been had as to how we would use our time in the Limo we finally decided that we would visit all our favourite Disney Resorts for photographs, we could have been married at any of these, when you look at our photographs. Andy and David had photographs taken of them both inside and out of the Limo to show all their friends back home what Super Stars they are. Joe decided that he wanted to go to McDonalds Drive through, in a Stretch, we managed to talk him out of this idea LOL.
Back at the Hotel we got changed, David Andy and Joe went for a swim whilst Dave and I went to take our films to be developed, we couldn't wait to see the results we also collected the cake, cake topper and our Disney Wedding Certificate signed by Mickey and Minnie wow!!. There was far too much cake for our small group so we gave what was left of the bottom layer to the concierge staff to share. We all met back in the room and then made our way to the California Grill for dinner, we had requested with our Wedding Co-ordinator a Fireworks view we weren't let down. Dave had Goats cheese ravioli followed by Pork, I had Blue cheese and pecan salad followed by chicken, Joe had flatbread followed by Steak, Andy had mussels followed by Soft backed crab and David had Asparagus followed by Soft back crab. What a laugh watching Andy eating the crab, when he ordered it he didn't know what to expect, it is a complete cooked crab and you eat it all, we could tell by the look on his face that he was not enjoying it, but we shared crepes and butterscotch Brulee for desert we all enjoyed those. We saw the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom during our meal and went out onto the rooftop walkway what a view at night a great end to our most Magical day ever at Walt Disney World. Back to our room as Mr & Mrs Clay.
Day 10 Sunday 7th July
Breakfast - Wedding cake & Coffee (in room)
Lunch & Dinner - Snacking all the way around Epcot.
Love Time -Lots of first Kisses
Tired time - Nodding off in the American Adventure
Fooling around - Joe and Dave on the Poly Beach Swings
Dave says he is a new man, we got up at 6.30 myself, Dave and David went for a swim in the quite pool. On our way back to the room we collected plates, spoons and coffee all round woke up Andy and Joe for breakfast. What a pain it is trying to get Andy up I've never known anyone want to lie in bed so much (except Joe), Joe decided that he would meet us in the park at 11.00, anything to stay in bed. This is the only day we would be staying in a park all day, we all get ready for the marathon then on the Monorail to Epcot.
Today will be first kiss day, I will kiss Dave at lots of different places, our first kisses as Mr & Mrs Clay. We all head straight to Test Track, to get Fast Passes then head round to Spaceship Earth, Andy loves this ride and we all here cooing noises coming from his direction, what a big softy. The lads take half an hour in Innovations while I catch up with my journal, then we head back to Test Track, while they are on Test Track I wander around Mouse Gear. We head for Ice Station Cool to meet Joe at 11 o'clock, Dave tries to get everyone to drink Beverly but they are not having it, you can't kid kidders. We notice that the Electric Umbrella is open and head round for breakfast we all share Hot-dogs and Burgers. We track back to Ellen's Universe of Energy, Dave loves this ride, he says it immerses you into the whole adventure, onto Honey I Shrunk the Audience, we all giggle at the special effects it's great when the dog decides to blow his nose. Past the jumping fountains to The Imagination Ride, I just can't get enough of Figment and buy Dave a pin for his collection.
Off to the World Showcase, we walked up the path that is surrounded by roses, some of them are getting a bit past their sell by date however the smell is gorgeous. We are going around the World Showcase anticlockwise for a change and all decide that we are going to share a Drink of the National beer from every Country and I am going to get a stamp from every Country in my Journal. We shared a Labbatts at Canada, Dave, David and Andy went to watch the Circle vision whilst Joe and I wandered around the shops. Joe then decided he was going back to the room for a swim I would meet him later in the day. Next stop the UK, we all shared a glass of Bass (this is Dave's favourite drink back home) and caught the end of the British Invasion show, not my favourite. Over the bridge to France, the white statue is out we have great laughs watching everyone's reaction, its great. The lads share a beer and we all wander around the perfume shops to try on different fragrances. Off to Morocco for a beer and some food at the Tangierine Café. We all decided to share three wraps Lamb, Chicken and Vegetarian the food in here is unusual but very tasty. Onto Japan, the drinking stopped here everyone decided they were feeling a little tipsy, non of us are great drinkers. The shopping in japan is great so many different items, lots of them obviously from a different culture, Dave is fascinated by the musical clocks and nearly buys one, he calls me an impulsive shopper! The United States of America came next Andy decided to have a plate of Funnel cake which we all shared whilst watching Shockwave. It wasn't really my cup of tea but Dave really enjoyed it, he likes to listen to Brass instruments this was him, in his musical element. Next round the American Adventure, we listened to the Liberty singers who were brilliant as ever. Andy decided to fall asleep in the show, when you look around you can see quite a few people nodding. Dave really likes this show he must have watched it over 25 times over the years. 6.15 already I make my way to Mexico to meet Joe
Dave, Andy and David tour Italy and we meet up outside Germany. In between times the Tapestry of Dreams Parade passed everyone, Its great watching the dancers when they interact with the children, they make everyone oh so happy I can still here the music playing. Onto China, Dave, Andy and David went to the theatre presentation they all watched the acrobats and came back amazed at the youngster who did the plate spinning. While they were watching Joe and I went shopping followed by watching the second showing of Tapestry of Dreams. it was starting to get near to 8.15 so we headed back to Germany to get our spot for the show. Just outside Germany is an excellent place for the show everything is viewed from a clear horizon with railings to lean on as well ahh bliss. Dave decided we would all share Hot-dogs and Pretzels from Germany washed down with a cool glass of Beck's Beer. This time of the evening is fantastic, the sun sets over the Horizon, the lights and gas lamps come on all around the World Showcase, everyone is so happy and chatty, this is what good times are made of. Illuminations were as brilliant - amazing - magical - out of this world - Wow as ever. We rushed as quick as we could from the park, onto the Monorail and we were sat on the beach at our resort waiting for the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Dave and Joe decided to fool around on the beach swings, both of them ended up on their backsides, moaning. We all went round to O'HANAS bar to finish the evening off with a cocktail, we also collected our Wedding Photo's which had now been developed. They are excellent, David has done ever such a good job with them, he is a sound engineer maybe he should try his hand at Camera work. I hope this dreamy wedding feeling never goes away, what a splendid day we have all had.
Day 11 Monday 8th July
Breakfast Concierge (Polynesian)
Lunch Concierge (Polynesian)
Dinner Boma (Animal Kingdom Lodge)
Flowers - My rose blooms are brill
Dreamy - Talked to Snow White and Princess Aurora
LOL - Kids in Boma
Dave woke up early in the morning and went for a swim and swing on the beach all on his own. he came back to the room with a tray of coffee to wake us all up. He has a new theory now, the longer you are awake, the longer your vacation lasts. We all tried to get Andy up to go for breakfast he steadfastly refuses to get out of bed so Dave and Joe pick up his mattress and tip him out of bed. I put the laundry on then we all go to the lounge to eat breakfast, fruit, pastries, juice and coffee, Dave had his newly discovered oatmeal. Andy is flying back to the UK today he just wishes he could stay, never mind we will be back just before Christmas. David is also leaving carrying on with his around the world tour, he is dropping Andy off at the airport and driving North, we said our farewells, on with our vacation. I keep looking at the roses Dave gave me, the blooms are getting bigger by the day they are ever so pretty. We were looking for a Disney photo album to put our wedding photos into this morning, round to the Grand Floridian shops, no luck here so tried the Magic Kingdom.
The Town Square Exposition Hall didn't have anything suitable either, we decided to wait until we got home to buy our album. While we were in the hall I got autographs from Snow White and Princess Aurora because there was no line I was also able to have a little chat with them both ever such amiable CMs. The Magic Kingdom was packed today so we made our way to the Contemporary Resort to nosey round the shops we stopped off at the bar and relaxed, looking over Discovery Island, drinking Strawberry shortcake milk shakes. We got back to our room for 1.00, just in time the heavens really opened up.
Joe decided he needed a roller coaster fix so we caught a bus to MGM studios, Dave and Joe went on Rock n Roller Coaster followed by the Tower of Terror, Dave says he loves watching the expressions of anticipation on the youngsters faces as he goes through the ride, I think he screams louder than anyone when the elevator drops. We stopped off at Prime Time for a beer, must eat here again one day, we had ever so much fun last time. Dave traded a few Pins before we left the Park and he struck lucky he was given a Pin Traders pin by a CM, one of the boss CMs judging his attire. We all sat down for twenty minutes to people watch, everyone seems in a rush this afternoon. Back to the Polynesian, we shared a small plate of Sushi from the Concierge Lounge then got changed for our night out at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. This is one of the things we love about Walt Disney World, you can transfer yourself from the tropical beach setting of the Polynesian to the lush Savannahs of the African plane in only fifteen minutes.
We arrived at the Lodge and made our way through that beautiful lobby to the viewing area. We saw Zebra, Giraffe, Ankole Cattle and Impala one little girl was saying that the biggest of the Cattle was the King nobody would beat him LOL. We stood by and listened to a segment of the story which was been told around the campfire, we have to come back here to stay one year. Time for our PS in Boma, the restaurant wasn't too crowded tonight, the food is all you can eat and did we eat a lot, sampled too much to mention, however the potato and bacon soup was excellent along with the Coconut tiramasu, Joe (for a change) ate beef and beef and more beef. After our meal we sat relaxed in the lobby seats for a while, just took in the fantastic architecture and theme of the whole area. We caught a bus back to the Magic Kingdom and we were soon in the Concierge Lounge eating cakes and liqueurs, we have made real pigs of ourselves tonight, there's contentment for you. Out for the fireworks at 10.00, Joe went for a swim, tonight's the night he made friends with a girl from New York, not another girlfriend, Ah well time for bed.
Day 12 Tuesday 9th July
Breakfast - Concierge (Polynesian)
Lunch - Concierge (Polynesian)
Dinner - Snacking at Epcot
Saying - This is our favourite day Funday!
Funny - Joe gets mimicked on the bus
We all slept in a little today, no early swimming for Dave as we are going to Typhoon Lagoon. Breakfast was in the Concierge fruit, pastries and oatmeal then off we go to sunbathe and swim. We dropped off some films on our way out of our hotel, this is still proving a cheap option with the badges to trade. It was a cloudy start to the day, we hired a locker, changed and made our way to the sunbeds, we were fairly early and there was no problem finding a promising location. Dave and Joe went on the Humunga Kowabunga speed slides then we all went on the Storm Slides, these slides are fun twisting and turning before dumping you in exit pool. Over the mountain trail for a ride on Gang Plank Falls then onto the Lazy River for a spot of relaxation. Joe was his usual self in the lazy river annoying both Dave and me by constantly threatening to tip us. I got really annoyed when he tipped me out and I banged my head on the bottom of river, I don't think he will try that again. We rode a few waves in the surf pool and guess what it started to rain, it looked as if there would be no let up for quite awhile so we made our way back to our resort.
We had a great laugh on the bus, a few small kids recognized Joe from the Pool at the Polynesian and started teasing him. They asked him if his name was Ben, where do you get that from he was asked, it says Ben Sherman on his shirt LOL. It didn't stop there either one of the lads, Ryan, decided to mimic Joe's every movement for at least 15 minutes it was fun seeing Joe trying not to move a muscle, he could do nothing about it and was the first person off the bus. Dave went to collect the Photos, some of which were disappointing, we had purchased the fastest film possible to catch the fireworks, it didn't work out.
After cookies and coffee at the concierge we made our way to Epcot, you have most likely worked out by now that this is our favourite park. First stop Innovations to send a video postcard to Andy, Dave decided to catch up with drinking a beer in every Country by going clockwise round this time, first stop Mexico. A ride on the Rio del Tiempo, those fibre optic fireworks are ever so pretty, followed by a Margarita for me and a beer for Dave. Next stop Norway Dave had a beer while I got a stamp in our journal, on to China. Dave decided that he was drinking too fast at this point and would have to stop if he was going to make it through the evening. We did a bit of window shopping in China there are some fantastic gifts in this shop, I spend a considerable amount of time deciding what gifts to take home, the kidsstop in China stamped my journal with the year of the dog (1958), the year in which both Dave and I were born. Straight past Germany, the line at the kidsstop was quite long, they must have had a real fun attraction for the kids, and on to Italy. Joe bought ice creams all round. the day was getting very hot now, so we decided to sit down in the shade when we reached Morocco, Dave decided to share a Lamb wrap with everyone. At the United Kingdom we shared fish and chips, I must admit that the meal was just as good as fish and chips back home. Joe decided to go back to the room, we would meet him later after Illuminations. Dave and I made our way back round to Germany to watch get our favourite spot to watch the show, stopping in the USA to purchase a Coffee Latte each. I finally managed to get my German stamp, now my collection was complete. The park had been very busy during the day so we were early claiming our place (8.00), I'm glad we did because most other people had the same Idea. We watched the evening Tapestry of Dreams parade and settled down to watch illuminations another fantastic evening. Because of the crowds Dave decided he would take a short cut back, past Test track, not to be there was a CM stopping anyone cutting through. We made our way to the Monorail and were packed like sardines in a tin, we were also just in time to catch the Magic Kingdom fireworks. We have never seen as many firework displays ever, as we have on this vacation. Back to our room, Joe had decided to collect two full plates of cakes from the lounge earlier in the evening so we made pigs of ourselves before crashing out for the night, another amazing day.
Day 13 Wednesday 10th July.
Breakfast - Concierge (Polynesian)
Lunch - Ghiradellis (Downtown Disney)
Dinner - Brewing Works (Boardwalk)
Trapped - By rain in the magic kingdom
Joe's saying of the day - Its only water
We didn't bother with a swim again this morning, I wasn't hungry so while Joe and Dave had breakfast I went for a swing on the beach, its so relaxing early on, listening to the far away noise of anticipation as the River boats crossed Bay Lake with lots of happy people on board. Dave joined me and we all took in the early morning sun. First stop the Magic Kingdom, we walked to the Grand Floridian and caught the monorail to Magic. I got Chip and Dales autograph in Town Square. We went for a bounce with Tigger on Poohs ride, ran away from the wicked Queen with Snow White then rode the Carousel pretending to be Mary Poppins. Peter Pans flight was closed for some reason so we made our way to Splash Mountain. This ride was as fantastic as ever, as we made our way off it started to rain and the clouds looked very threatening so we decided to make our way out of the park. As we were walking through main street shops the blackest cloud in the world descended over the Magic Kingdom, a monsoon. Every one was trapped, we had fun watching guests make decisions whether or not to get wet, people were streaming into the Magic Kingdom lots of them drenched, just as if they had jumped into Typhoon Lagoon.
We went back to our room caught up with Joe and decided to go to Downtown Disney to do our gift shopping. We tend to do most of our shopping in one hit to maximise the American Express discount. We ate a chocolate lunch in Ghiradellis Dave had a Cable car, joe a hot fudge sundae and I had a Strawberry milk shake and a taste of Dave's and Joe's. While we were in the World of Disney Joe saw a lady get arrested for shoplifting, I suppose this goes on a lot but you don't expect to see that kind of thing. After we had bought most of the presents we went to Virgin, on Westside, to buy a Jazz cd for ourselves, this is really a massive shop, I have never seen as many cds for sale under one roof we also got discount using our Annual Pass, then back to our room for a swim. Dave decided to have a beer at the Pool bar I joined him and had a Pina Colada followed by a long laze on the beach.
We decided to eat on the Boardwalk tonight so we caught the Monorail to magic and a bus to the Yacht Club. This resort area is really nice it always seems very peaceful and has its own kind of splendour. We walked round to the Boardwalk watching the magician do a few card tricks for a while and enjoying the atmosphere of the place. We decided to try the Brewing Works for dinner, no problem getting a seat. We started by sharing chips and Salsa then Dave had Ribeye steak, Joe had New York steak and I had Chicken and Pasta. The portions were very big in here, no one managed to finish their meals. It was 8.30 when we left the Brewing Works so we decided to catch Illuminations for the last time on this trip, we walked through the International gateway and stood behind a group of people outside Canada, we saw the lights come up out of the rocks before the show then for the first time we have ever witnessed, someone got the continuity of the show wrong. When the show introduction finished the gas torches didn't go out for about ten seconds, after they were blown out, it didn't spoil the show one bit. We again made it down to the Polynesian beach in time for the fireworks and finished off the night with a liqueur from the concierge lounge. Dave and myself collapsed into bed after another fantastic Disney day, Joe went for a swim.
Day 14 Thursday 11th July
Breakfast - 1900 Park Fayre
Lunch - Concierge (Polynesian)
Dinner - Kona Café (Polynesian)
Must do Again - Park fayre breakfast
Jazz Club - Had no jazz but a fantastic voice only group
Our last full day on vacation, we are all finding it harder to get up in the mornings. We went to meet the characters from the Character bus in the Lobby, we caught Rafiki and Pluto, back to the room to get Joe out of bed then we made our way to the Grand Floridian, along the beach walkway, for our 9.50 PS. The characters were out in the Grand Floridian lobby, Goofy was running around the balcony acting very Goofy and the Queen of Hearts was trying her best to keep the lines of children in order with some stern looks LOL. The food at the Character Breakfast was all you can eat and a splendid meal was had by all. We got autographs from. Pooh, Piglet, Alice, Eyore and Mary Poppins the Mad Hatter was also present but didn't make it to our table. We have had character meals at most locations in Walt Disney World and both decided that this was the best yet. if you have chance make a reservation for this one, most excellent.
We walked back to the Polynesian, Dave and Joe took out a water sprite while I sat on the beach taking in the sun, I could stay here forever. Joe had a date with Gina his New York babe at 12 o'clock, they went to Disney Quest while Dave and I went swimming and sunbathing for two hours, we had a nice relaxing time, ahh bliss. We took a boat trip to the Wilderness Lodge in the afternoon, we had decided that we would eat at Artists Point on this vacation but sadly never made, we will next time. As we left it looked very much like rain so we caught a bus to Epcot to finish off our gift shopping. We bought Charlotte a lovely bracelet in China then made our way back to the Polynesian, to start packing for the return journey home. When we got back to the room we found a large bar of chocolate on our bed with a picture of the Polynesian resort on it, what a nice thought.
We ate Dinner in the Kona Café Dave had Oriental Noodles, Joe had Chicken Caesar and I had Mahi Mahi, the food was excellent and we finished off with a Banana Brulee to share between us, yum. Joe then went back to the room to arrange to meet Gina while (It must be Love) while Dave and I went to Pleasure Island to catch some Jazz on our last night. There was no jazz tonight at the jazz Club a band called Toxic Audio was playing, we ended up watching 2 and a half sets, they were very good and funny with it, we haven't seen the Jazz Club this full for a while. Dave drank a Martini and I had a Raspberry Royale, the service was very slow tonight I don't think they were expecting it to be so busy. One thing we do miss at Pleasure Island is the Country music venue, please Disney bring it back. One packed bus later and we were falling into our bed, ever so tired.
Day 15 Friday 12th July
Breakfast - Concierge (Polynesian)
Lunch - Cosmic Rays (Magic Kingdom)
Dinner - On the Plane
Planning - Joe makes arranges a rendezvous
Reality check - Back to the UK today.
Oh no! home today, Dave set the alarm for 6 o'clock we both woke up and went for a swim. Took some coffee back to the room woke Joe up then went for breakfast in the lounge. We finished packing the final bits, Dave got a bit worried that we would exceed our luggage allowance, never mind it is all worth it. We had our luggage collected and sent to the car. We decided to spend our last few hours in the Magic Kingdom, we made our way there by monorail. Through security and caught the Walt Disney World railroad round to Splash Mountain. Joe sat in the front and Dave got wet by the little waterfall near the end of the ride, we always manage to seat him on the right hand side. A quick ride on Thunder Mountain and we caught the train round to ToonTown. We walked up the small path to Tomorrowland where Dave and Joe got Fast Passes for Space Mountain. A quick ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority then we joined the line for Buzz Lightyear. Although the posted wait was for 30 minutes we were riding in ten. Dave beat everyone, I think he has been cheating and finding out where to score high, on the Internet. Dave and Joe went onto Space Mountain while I looked around Mickey's Star Traders and caught some sun. It started to rain, not too heavy, so we made our way to Cosmic Rays for lunch. Dave likes this place he reckons the fast food beats anything the burger chains have to offer and he likes the futuristic show inside, hey nobody's perfect. As the rain eased off we made our way through the castle to Adventureland for a ride on the Pirates of the Caribbean, I decided to shop while the lads went on, Dave came off a little wet with a big help from Joe. Time to leave we made our way to the Polynesian and while Dave sorted the car I bought some muffins for at the airport from Captain Cooks Snack bar. There was an enormous queue when we finally reached the Airport and our plane was going to be two hours late to boot not to worry. Goodbye America we will see you again soon.

We have listed a our meal venues at the top of each day along with a few of our favourite things that happened.
Who are we?
Dave a Retail store manager residing in Staffordshire UK.
