I am going to WDW and Orlando in May (see my post in the WDW Section). I know Universal has changed tremendously since I was there last in 96. They were just starting to build the twister ride and they were starting to clear land for Islands of Adventure. I do not have any park maps or anything from US or IOA, so I'm not sure exactly what to do and what not to do, or even if we should bother going. I know that they have removed my favorite rides that were there when I was a child (Hanna Barbera Jetsons Simulator one, Kong, Back to the Future- I hear talks that they are starting to shut it down). So I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions, and also should I bother going? Thanks a ton!

We're thinking the same thing. Is Universal any different than the one in Hollywood?? Should we spend one of our WDW days to go to Universal or Islands of Adventure?

Universal Orlando is very different than the one in Hollywood and they don't have Islands of Adventure in Hollywood. There are a few rides that are the same, but you get more bang for your buck at Islands of Adventure. If you like roller coasters go to Islands of Adventure. If you like more themed rides go to Universal Studios. Either way it's worth it.

It really depends on what kinds of rides you like. They are much more a thrill ride park, so if that's more your thing, then you might like it. We had planned two days, one for each park, and we spent about half that time there because there wasn't that much we were interested in doing. If we were to decide to go again, and that's a big if, we'd buy a one-day park hopper.

If you have the extra time, then I'd consider going. If you're sacrificing a WDW day, then I'd say no.

It is WAY better than the one in Hollywood.

The Men in Black ride, Mummy, Dr. Seuss, Spiderman and Dueling Dragons all make it worth while!

I am also going to WDW this year and tho its great fun i always make time to go to US,IOA and seaworld throughout my 14 day vacation usually day in each and depending on the time of year maybe go to busch gardens in tamper bay.

The magic of disney is great but i also love the thrill of roller coaster and if you like that then US is the place to go

I went to US/IOA for the 1st time this Feb, me and my friend only had 7 hours (we did not realize they where closing at 7pm, we arrived about noon), so we figured we would try both parks in 7 hours, purchased front of line passes, and had a blast, went on Hulk and Mummy 2x! Mummy in Florida is 100x better than the one in Hollywood! I use to think, "the only two worth while things at Universal Hollywood are the Mummy and the tour", now it's just the tour! So, I guess I am back to going to Universal Hollywood once every 5 years :)! I will definitely be taking the time to go to US/IOA every time I am in FL! Get the front of the line pass, pay for one day, and you'll be good to go!

I have been to the one in Hollywood and to IOA. I would highly recommend IOA if you like thrill rides at all. We stayed all day and there was something for everyone we were with (2 year old through people in their 30's). I would love to go back to IOA next time I visit Florida.

I had no idea that Universal Studios in Orlando would be that much different than the one in Hollywood. Anyone care to share why it is so much better?

Well, the fact that it's basically flat helps :)

Also it just seems to be nicer, not tons a junk everywhere like here....

More space?
