View Full Version : What happened to Mouseplanet???

It's weird, what happened to Mouseplanet? It was GREAT up until about half a year ago. Up until then you did 3-2 new things per day (monday-friday) and 2 out of 3 times it was mostly about DLR. Lately, it's lucky if you do 2 new columns per day, but mainly it's just one. And now they are mainly about WDW!! Because of this I don't come to Mouseplanet as often. And frankly, I think it sucks! Will Mouseplanet ever get back up to it's old speed of 2-3 new columns a day?

No. As I understand, the 3 article a day thingy was just a way to "get off the ground". Mouseplanet has now settled into its regular pace. Read this thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4445) for more.

It has changed.

But, what I have found is that if I have a question about something that I could have gotten answers from their old
stories, all I have to do is ask on the board. Someone always
has the answer or can help find it.

I can't use the information on WDW :( but it is all still good. :)

Thanks to the MP staff.

I'm only interested in DLR information myself. While it is interesting to read the WDW stuff once in a while, it doesn't interest me much. I don't think I ever see trip reports from DRL (I saw one here on the pad for DCA). I realize WDW has a lot more to talk about, but I too would like to see more on DL.

Just seems like DL takes back seat to WDW in the Disney company these days. So we may be more sensitive to it everywhere else.;)

Still, I love MP, and appretiate what the staff does. Thanks guys!:D

I like the variety of updates now. I think more variety should be added, too! I mean, let's have updates on beaches, baseball fields and Target. That would be swell!

I like the fact that MousePlanet is more well rounded. In addition to the DL and WDW info, they have also been posting DVD and other reviews. I like it.

I don't really think that DLR is being forced to take a back seat to WDW here at MousePlanet or within the Walt Disney Co. Oddly enough, there are many people that I work with at WDW who think that WDW has to take a back seat to DLR. I think it's the grass is always greener syndrome.

I like hearing about all of the Disney properties.

Well, that is true. I do enjoy reading about the non- Disney parks, the food info., the DVD reviews, and all the other things you find here on MousePlanet. It is fairly well rounded.

I suppose there is a lot more to talk about WDW. Maybe WDW or DL don't take as much of a back seat to each other as it may appear. Perhaps they pump up the marketing in the opposit market to get people to travel to the other parks than they normally go to. I don't know.

I, too, have noticed the decline in the quality of Mouseplanet. I think I remember Al once stating that Mouseplanet's goal was to provide each individual reader at least one article in which he himself would be interested. And mouseplanet always seemed to achieve that goal. Almost every day there would either be a DIG update, a David Koenig column, or a Kevin Yee column. Somedays I lucked out and I was able to read two articles I was interested in. Mouseplanet was great!

Unfortunately, it seems that Al only posts and update twice a month (same as David Koenig). And I never see Kevin Yee's Cast Place columns anymore. I still enjoy reading Mouseplanet, but it's not nearly as good as it used to be.

I think that statement sums up my MP feelings.

For the amount that we pay to view MP on a daily basis, I think the quality is great.

Amen, sister... couldn't have said it better. Keeping this site running (at even an article a day) isn't nearly as easy as it looks. And IMHO the quality is still there, even if the quantity of articles isn't. Keep up the good work guys!

I'm sure I've seen this same message beforehand. Might've been mine...

But, like the previous posts have said, MousePlanet is completely free. The kind people who donate their time to this site must be commended for their efforts. I try to donate to their cause when I can. Nothing huge, but $5 here and there is my way of saying thanks.

Just out of curiousity, do any of the MP staff know how well the donation program is doing? Do expenses get remotely covered by the money raised?

Just a question. It's a bit rude and straightforward...so don't feel obligated to answer.

I don't know the answer to that, but perhaps that makes me the most qualified to say that I doubt those who *do* know will make this public information.

I don't think it's a rude question, but I also don't think it's one that is prudently answered by a business :)

I want to say that I loved MP with 3 articles a day and I love MP with 1 article a day. I love the Pad. I love MousePlanet period! If you don't like MP, or are dissatisfyed with the amount of updates or the type of updates then you should feel free to explore other sites that would cater to your needs better. The admins, writers do this for the love of doing this. They don't get paid a monentary amount, and I highly doubt MP funds their APs.

So instead of complaining about the lack of updates, or the lack of bandwidth, we should thank them for providing us with such a wonderful website that includes a wonderful message board where new friendships have been formed and the mature group of people who post can have mature discussions about everything from a missing vulture on Splash Mountain to the Pledge of Alligenance being declared unconstitutional.

So Thank you guys!

Just like to chime in and say that MP is updated FAR more regularly than any of the other Disney sites out there.... We usually get at least 1 article a day on weekdays...

 INCREDIBLE!!!! Am I the only one that finds bitter (yet supremely amusing) irony in the desire of some to complain about the site that gives them a forum to complain about Disney?

"Disneyland sure isn't as good as it used to be!"
"WDW has really gone down the tubes."
"What happened to MousePlanet? It used to be so great. . . ."

:p You crack me up, the lot of you! Switch off your bloody "crap detectors" and look at the bright side of life! For all that's (truly or merely in the imagination) wrong with them, both Disney and MousePlanet offer heaps to be excited about. If you don't like them anymore, shove off and find another pet interest to bash on another forum.

I am obviously a heretic. The inevitable mobbing, lynching, flaming, and hating should commence anytime now.

I like this site. I read each article with interest - sometimes having to stop half way through to post something about it because it just can't wait. :D

I like MousePlanet and would like to thank them for the upkeep of the site, providing such a super-de-dooper message board, and keeping the site updated far more often then any other site I visit.

You guys are "a good thing". :)
